Vielen Dank, dass Sie sich für eine KONTRONIK
ProgUNIT entschieden haben. Mit der ProgUNIT
erhalten Sie eine Programmier- und Update-Einheit
für alle online updatefähigen KONTRONIK
Drehzahlsteller.
2. Sicherheitshinweise
Unter keinen Umständen darf die ProgUNIT
an das Hauptstromnetz angeschlossen
werden. Lebensgefahr!
Die ProgUNIT dient ausschließlich zur Konfi-
guration von KONTRONIK Drehzahlstellern.
Drehzahlsteller anderer Hersteller können mit
der ProgUNIT nicht konfiguriert werden.
Die ProgUNIT ersetzt nicht den Drehzahlsteller.
 Der Betrieb der ProgUNIT ist nur in Situationen
zulässig, in denen Sach- und Personenschäden
ausgeschlossen sind.
 Die ProgUNIT ist nur zum Einsatz in Umgebun-
gen vorgesehen, in denen keine Entladung von
statischer Elektrizität auftritt.
 Die ProgUNIT darf unter keinen Umständen ge-
öffnet oder modifiziert werden.
 Die ProgUNIT nicht ins offene Feuer werfen.
 Bei der Verbindung des an die ProgUNIT ange-
schlossenen Drehzahlstellers mit einem Akku ist
auf die richtige Polung der Anschlüsse zu achten!
3. Anschluss der ProgUNIT an den
Drehzahlsteller
Verbinden Sie die KONTRONIK ProgUNIT über
das Buchsenkabel mit dem BEC Kabel des
KONTRONIK Drehzahlsteller (Masteranschluss).
Nachdem die ProgUNIT mit dem Drehzahlsteller
verbunden wurde, einen geladenen Antriebsakku
anschließen. Ohne Verbindung zu einem
geladenen Antriebsakku können keine Ein-
stellungen am Drehzahlsteller vorgenommen
werden.
Bei Drehzahlstellern mit deaktiviertem BEC muss
ein separater vierzelliger Ni-XX Akku an die
ProgUNIT angeschlossen werden.
4. Durchführen von Updates
4.1 Update eines Drehzahlstellers
Voraussetzungen für die Durchführung eines Up-
dates sind:
• online updatefähiger KONTRONIK Dreh-
zahlsteller
• KONTRONIK ProgUNIT
• PC mit Windows
™
-Betriebssystem
• Internetverbindung
• Akku (20–59V)
1. Trennen Sie den KONTRONIK Regler vom Emp-
fänger (Master- u. Slave-Port) und verbinden die
Buchse des BEC-Kabels der ProgUNIT mit dem
Master-Port des Reglers. BEC-Kabel erforder-
lich.
2. Laden Sie von der KONTRONIK + SOBEK
Drives Homepage (www.kontronik.com) die ak-
tuelle Softwareversion Ihres KONTRONIK Reg-
lers herunter und speichern die Datei auf Ihrem
PC.
3. Verbinden Sie den KONTRONIK Regler mit ei-
nem geeigneten Akku (20–59 V). Sobald die

Spannungsversorgung hergestellt ist blinken die
LEDs des Reglers und der ProgUNIT.
4. Führen Sie die heruntergeladene Updatedatei
auf Ihrem PC durch Doppelklick aus.
5. Verbinden Sie anschließend die ProgUNIT mit
dem mitgelieferten USB-Kabel mit einem Win-
dows
™
PC.
6. Die auf dem KONTRONIK Regler installierte
Softwareversion, wird im Fenster des Updates
angezeigt.
7. Sobald der PC die ProgUNIT und die ProgUNIT
den KONTRONIK Regler erkannt hat, wird die
installierte Softwareversion im Updatefenster
angezeigt und die Schaltfläche Update kann
angeklickt werden.
8. Das Update wird anschließend automatisch
durchgeführt.
9. Während des Updates darf keine der bestehen-
den Verbindungen getrennt werden: PC / Pro-
gUNIT, ProgUNIT / KONTRONIK Regler oder
KONTRONIK Regler / Akku.
10. Während des Updatevorganges nach Möglich-
keit keine weiteren Arbeiten am PC durchfüh-
ren, da der Fortschrittsbalken sonst einfriert.
Das Update wird aber trotzdem weiter durchge-
führt!
11. Nach Fertigstellung des Updates erscheint ein
Hinweis dass das Update erfolgreich durchge-
führt wurde.
12. Nach erfolgreich durchgeführtem Update kön-
nen sämtliche Verbindungen getrennt werden.
Ggf. muss der Regler vor der ersten Verwen-
dung auf Mode 1 zurückgesetzt werden. Da-
nach ist der KONTRONIK Regler einsatzbereit.
ACHTUNG sämtlich Voreinstellungen wer-
den zurückgesetzt, alle Programmierungen
müssen neu vorgenommen werden.
4.2 Update der ProgUNIT
Um die Software der ProgUNIT zu aktualisieren,
informieren Sie sich zunächst über den, auf der
ProgUNIT gespeicherten Softwarestand. Dieser
kann über die PC Oberfläche ausgelesen werden.
Ob eine aktuellere Softwareversion verfügbar ist,
kann auf der KONTRONIK + SOBEK Drives
Homepage (www.kontronik.com) unter SERVICE-
CENTER – DOWNLOADS – ProgUNIT überprüft
werden.
Sollte eine aktuellere Software als auf der
ProgUNIT gespeicherte Version verfügbar sein,
speichern Sie die Datei auf Ihrem lokalen Rechner.
Anschließend führen Sie die Datei aus.
Drücken Sie den Taster auf der Rückseite der
ProgUNIT und halten Sie diesen gedrückt.
Verbinden Sie nun über das mitgelieferte USB
Kabel die USB Buchse der ProgUNIT mit Ihrem
PC, den Taster immer noch gedrückt halten.
Die grüne LED leuchtet. Warten Sie bis die rote
LED zu blinken beginnt. Dieser Vorgang kann
etwa fünf bis sechs Sekunden dauern.
Anschließend den Taster wieder loslassen.
Klicken Sie auf den Button Update um die aktuelle
Softwareversion aufzuspielen. Nach Abschluss des
Updates ist die ProgUNIT aktualisiert und kann
vom Rechner getrennt werden.
Bei Bedarf kann dieser Vorgang beliebig oft
wiederholt werden.
5. PC Oberfläche K-KONFIG
Um die ProgUNIT zur Programmierung eines
KONTRONIK Reglers zu benutzen, benötigen Sie

PC. Das Programm kann unter www.kontronik.com
- Service-Center - Downloads - Software herunter
geladen werden.
Verbinden Sie den Regler (Masterport) mit der
Buchse der ProgUNIT. Schließen Sie den Regler
an einen Akku an. Verbinden Sie die USB-
Schnittstelle der ProgUNIT mit einem Windows™
PC. Starten Sie das K-KONFIG Programm.
Nachfolgende Oberfläche (Abb. beispielhaft)
erscheint.
Folgende Parameter können in den einzelnen
Bereichen eingestellt werden:
•Allgemein:
oBEC-Spannung - Ausgangsspannung des
BECs. Bitte Beachten Sie die Spannungsfes-
tigkeit Ihrer Empfangsanlage.
oDrehrichtungsumkehr - Dreht die Drehrich-
tung des Motors. Alternativ können auch zwei
beliebige Motorkabel getauscht werden.
•Akku
oAkkutyp - Damit das Akkumanagement kor-
rekt funktioniert, bitte hier den verwendeten
Akkutyp einstellen - default ist LiPo
oAbschaltspannung / Zelle - Hier kann die
Abschaltspannung angepasst werden. Die
Grenzwerte richten sich dabei nach dem
Akkutyp.
oUnterspannungsabschaltung - Aktiviert ein
Abschalten des Motors bei Erreichen der
Unterspannungserkennung des Akkus. An-
sonsten wird die Leistung der Motors so
weit abgeregelt, dass die Spannung des
Akkus gehalten werden kann. Im Heli wird
der Motor gleichmäßig heruntergefahren.
oKapazitätslimit - Hier kann eine maximale
Entladekapazität aus dem Akku eingestellt
werden. Danach greift das Akkumanage-
ment.
•Drehzahlregelung
oDrehzahlregler Typ - Es wird unterschieden
ob mit oder ohne Drehzahlregelung oder im
Governor Store Betrieb, d.h. die Motor / Ak-

und nicht bei jedem Start automatisch adap-
tiert.
oHochlaufzeit - Hochlaufzeit aus dem Stand
oP-Anteil - Hat Einfluss auf die Drehzahlrege-
lung. Nur mit Hintergrundwissen ändern!
oRi.-Comp. - Innenwiderstand des Motors.
Kann bei Bedarf zur Optimierung der Dreh-
zahlregelung eingegeben werden.
•Motor
oBremse - Typ - Hier wird unterschieden zwi-
schen keine / normale Bremse und propor-
tionale Bremse für den RC Car Betrieb.
oPolzahl - Damit im Log die Drehzahl an der
Welle korrekt angegeben wird muss die
Polzahl dem Motor entsprechend eingege-
ben werden.
oÜbersetzung - Um im Log die Kopfdrehzahl
/ Luftschraubendrehzahl bei Getriebeein-
satz korrekt anzuzeigen, bitte die Überset-
zung eingeben.
oAuto-Timing - Normalerweise wird das Ti-
ming des Motors automatisch, in Abhängig-
keit vom Motor und den aktuellen Leis-
tungsdaten, vom Regler berechnet. Auf
Wunsch kann Auto Timing durch Fix-Timing
ersetzt werden
oFix-Timing - Wenn die Erkennung des Mo-
tors nicht wie gewünscht funktioniert kann
die feste Einstellung des Timings Abhilfe
schaffen (Entspricht dem alten KSA Modus)
oSlewrate Pos. - Beschleunigungsverzöge-
rung in Gasrichtung. Bitte nur mit Hinter-
grundwissen ändern!
oSlewrate Neg. - Beschleunigungsverzöge-
rung in Motor aus Richtung. Bitte nur mit
Hintergrundwissen ändern!
•Warnungen
oHier können die Schwellwerte für die Auslö-
sung der Alarme mittels TelMe Modul ein-
gestellt werden.
•Firmware-Info
oDie aktuellen Versionsnummern werden
beim Anschluss des Reglers ausgelesen.
6. Gewährleistung

Monate Gewährleistung auf dieses Produkt bei Kauf
in der EU. Produktkäufe außerhalb der EU entspre-
chen den jeweiligen gesetzlichen Vorschriften. Alle
weitergehenden Ansprüche sind ausgeschlossen.
Dies gilt insbesondere für Schadenersatzansprüche
die durch Ausfall oder Fehlfunktion ausgelöst wur-
den. Für Personenschäden, Sachschäden und de-
ren Folgen, die aus unserer Lieferung oder Arbeit
entstehen, können wir, außer bei Vorsatz oder gro-
ber Fahrlässigkeit unsererseits, keine Haftung über-
nehmen, da uns eine Kontrolle der Handhabung

1. General
Thank you for choosing a KONTRONIK ProgUNIT
With the ProgUNIT you have a device to programm
and update all online updatable KONTRONIK
ESCs.
2. Safety Notes
Under no circumstances connect the
ProgUNIT to the main electrical supply.
Danger of one's Life!
The ProgUNIT isued exclusively for configuring
KONTRONIK ESCs. ESCs made by other
manufacturers cannot be configurated via the
ProgUNIT.
The ProgUNIT cannot be used as an ESC.
Operation of a model with the ProgUNIT is not
allowed.
 Operation of the ProgUNIT is only allowed in
situations in which no harm to others can occur.
 The ProgUNIT can only be used in environments
in which no discharge of static electricity occurs.
 Under no circumstances the ProgUNIT should be
opened or modified.
 Do not throw the ProgUNIT into open fire.
 While connecting the ESC to a battery pack en-
sure the correct polarity of the connectors!
3. Connecting the ProgUNIT to an ESC
Connect the KONTRONIK ProgUNIT to the
KONTRONIK ESC via the BEC cable (Master port)
and the female plug on the ProgUNIT.
After connecting the ProgUNIT with an ESC, a
charged battery has to be connected too. Without
connection to a charged battery no adjustments to
the ESC cannot be made.
If the BEC is deactivated, please connect a 4 cell
NiXX battery to the ProgUNIT.
4. Updates
4.1 Updating an ESC
For the implementation of an update are required:
•online updatable KONTRONIK ESC
•KONTRONIK ProgUNIT
•PC with Windows ™ operating system
•Internet connection
•Battery (20-59V)
1. Disconnect the KONTRONIK ESC from the
receiver (Master and Slave Port) and connect
the Master Port with the female connector of
the ProgUNIT.
2. Download from the KONTRONIK + SOBEK
DRIVES service page (www.kontronik.com)
the latest software version for your
KONTRONIK ESC.
3. Connect the KONTRONIK ESC to an appro-
priate battery. As soon as the connection is es-
tablished the LEDs of the KONTRONIK ESC
and the ProgUNIT starts flashing.

4. Launch the downloaded software version on
your Windows™ PC.
5. Now connect the ProgUNIT with the supplied
USB cable to your PC.
6. When connecting the ProgUNIT to the PC, the
currently installed software version is shown in
the window (see below). The Update button is
now selectable. Run the update from your PC
by clicking the update button.
7. The update will be executed automatically.
8. During the update it is recommended not to
disconnect anything of the items: PC /
ProgUNIT, ProgUNIT / KONTRONIK ESC,
KONTRONIK ESC / battery.
9. During the update no additional work should be
done on the PC, otherwise the progress bar
may appear to be frozen. Nevertheless the up-
date is still running!
10. When the update has been completed suc-
cessfully a confirmation of the new software
version appears in the software update screen.
11. After a successfully completed update all con-
nections can be disconnected. The
KONTRONIK ESC should be reset to Mode 1.
After this the KONTRONIK ESC is ready for
standard mode programming.
WARNING: all previously made preferences
will be reset; the mode programming must
be redone.
4.2 Updating the ProgUNIT
Before updating the software of your ProgUNIT
please read the currently installed software version
via the PC programm.
Please visit KONTRONIK + SOBEK Drives
homepage for the most current version of firmware
(www.kontronik.com): SERVICE-CENTER –
DOWNLOADS – SOFTWARE - ProgUNIT. If a later
software version is available, please save the file
on your local Windows™ PC and execute the file
afterwards. The screen below will be displayed.
Press the button on the backside of the ProgUNIT
and hold it. Connect the USB port of the ProgUNIT
via the included USB cable to your PC, still keep
the button pressed! The green LED is on. Wait
until the red LED beginns blinking. This procedure
may take five to six seconds. After the red LED
beginns blinking, please release the button.
Cllick on the button Update on your PC to install
the new software version.
After finalizing the update, the ProgUNIT can be
disconnected from the PC.
This procedure can be repeated if desired.
5. PC Program K-KONFIG
To program a KONTRONIK ESC by ProgUNIT a
Windows™ PC and the K-KONFIG PC software is
needed. This program can be downloaded form the
homepage www.kontronik.com.

Connect the ProgUNIT to a USB port on your
computer. Connect your ESC and power it up. Start
the K-KONFIG program. The following sreen will
then be displayed which allows the adjustment of
the available parameters.
The following parameters can be changed in the
different sections.
•In General:
oBEC-Voltage - output voltage of the BEC. Be
sure that your receiver and servos can handle
this chosen voltage.
oreverse rotation - changes the rotational di-
rection of the motor. This can also be done by
changing two motor wires.
•Battery
oBattery type - to be sure the battery man-
agement is working properly select the cor-
rect battery type. Default is LiPo.
oCut off voltage / cell - the cut off voltage can
be adjusted here. The limits are depending
on the battery type.
oUnder voltage cut off - activates a hard cut off
instead of limiting the power of the motor until
the voltage can be held. It also changes both
the under voltage and capacity limit behavior
in helicopter mode to a hard cut off instead of
the power being slowly decreased until the
motor comes to a complete stop.
oCapacity limit - set the maximum discharge
capacity limit. After reaching the set capacity
the battery management begins.
•RPM control
oType of RPM control - Decision between with
or without RPM control or the governor store
mode. In governor store mode the motor and
battery parameters are stored once and are
not reset with every start up.

oSpool up time - start up time for spool up.
oP-Part - changes in RPM control. Only
change with expert knowledge!
oRi.-Comp. - inner resistance of the motor.
Used to improve the RPM control if (rarely)
needed.
•Motor
oType of Brake - Choice of no brake, normal
brake or proportional brake which is used in
RC cars.
oPole count - To get the correct motor RPM
in the logs, the pole count of your motor has
to be set.
oGear ratio - to get the correct head or prop
RPM in geared usage, the gear ratio in use
has to be set.
oAuto-Timing - normally the timing for the
motor is calculated automatically by the
ESC, depending on the used power and the
motor parameters. To stop this automation
switch to Fix-timing.
oFix-Timing - If the timing detection for the
motor is not working properly, the timing can
be set to fixed (this is equivalent to KSA
mode).
oSlewrate Pos. - acceleration rate of the mo-
tor. Only change with expert knowledge!
oSlewrate Neg. - deceleration rate of the mo-
tor. Only change with expert knowledge!
•Warnings
oThe limits for the warnings communicated
by TelME module can be set here.
•Firmware-Info
oThe software status is displayed when the
ESC is connected.

6. Warranty
KONTRONIK + SOBEK Drives guarantees this
product to be free from factory defects in material
and workmanship for a period of 24 months from
date of purchase and purchase within the EU.
Warranty for purchases made outside the EU is in
line with the respective legal regulations. This war-
ranty does not cover: suitability for specific applica-
tion, components worn by use, application of re-
verse or improper voltage, tampering, misuse or
shipping. Our warranty liability shall be limited to
repairing or replacing the unit to our original speci-
fications. Because we have no control over the
installation, warranty coverage will not exceed the
original cost of the product. All warranty claims
terminate with opening of the product. To accept
guarantee the original bill on which the product the
date of purchase and the dealer is named must be
sent together with the product. Also a detailed fault
description is necessary. Please use the
KONTRONIK service form for sending in.
Do not forget to indicate your correct address
for sending the item back.
