IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic sa ety
precautions should always be ollowed to reduce the
risk o ire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons
including the ollowing :
1. Read all instructions prior to irst use.
2. Do not touch hot sur aces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against ire, electric shock and injury to
persons, do not immerse cord, plugs or machine in
water or other liquid.
4. Not intented or use by children.
5. Close supervision is necessary when any machine
is used near children. Keep machine out o reach o
children.
6. This appliance is not designed to be used by
children or people without knowledge or
experience with the product, unless they are
supervised or given prior instructions concerning
the use o the appliance by someone responsible
or their sa ety.
7. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
8. Burns can occur rom touching hot plate, hot water
or steam. Exercise caution.
9. Unplug machine rom outlet when not in use and
when cleaning. Allow to cool be ore putting on or
taking o parts, be ore cleaning the machine, and
be ore storing.
10. All machines are subject to stringent quality
control. Practical tests using machines taken at

random are conducted and this may explain any
slight marks or coffee residue prior to use.
11. Do not operate any machine with a damaged cord
or plug or after the machine malfunctions, or has
been damaged in any manner. Return machine to
the nearest Krups Service Center for examination,
repair or adjustment or your respective countries
Consumer Service Department.
12. To reduce the risk of injury do not drape cord over
the counter top or table top where it can be pulled
on by children or tripped over accidentally.
13. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter,
or touch hot surfaces.
14. The use of accessory attachments not
recommended by Krups may result in fire, electric
shock or injury to persons.
15. Do not use outdoors.
16. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric
burner, or in a heated oven.
17. To disconnect the machine, turn the control to “off”
then remove plug from wall outlet. Do not yank
cord, instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
18. Do not use the machine for other than intended
use.
19. Do not pour liquids other than water and descaling
solutions specified in this manual into the water
tank.
20. Protect the machine against humidity and freezing.
21. This machine is for household use only.

22. The container is designed for use with this
appliance. It must never be used on a range top.
23. Do not set a hot container on a wet or cold surface.
24. Do not use a cracked container or a container
having a loose or weakened handle.
25. Do not clean container with cleansers, steel wool
pads, or other abrasive material.

CAUTION
This machine is intended for household use only. Any servicing
other than cleaning and user maintenance should be performed
by the nearest authorized Krups Service Center.

Consumer Service department for the service center nearest to
you.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to
disassemble the machine. Repair should be done by an
authorized Krups Service Center only.
HORT CORD IN TRUCTION
A. We do not recommend using an extension cord with this
device. A short power cord or a detachable power cord is
provided to reduce the risks of becoming entangled in or
tripping over a longer cord accidentally.
B. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary,
1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the
machine,

2) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not
drape over the counter top or table top where it can be
pulled on by children or tripped over.
C. This machine has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than
the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is
intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not
attempt to modify the plug in any way.
In the interest of improving products, Krups reserves the right
to change specifications without prior notice.

1. DESCRIPTION
2. PRIOR TO FIRST USE
nOperate your coffee maker for the first time without coffee using 1 litre
of water to rinse the circuit.
3. MAKING COFFEE
(Follow the illustrations 1 to 7)
nThis model has a 10 european cups capacity.
nOnly use cold water and a n°4 coffee filter paper.
nDo not fill beyond the maximum water level marked on the water tank.

nPress the transparent button. It will light up with a white light and will
return to its initial position once it is released.
Note: This Model has an automatic stop system at the end of the cycle.
nTo keep the jug warm longer, rinse it with hot water prior to use.
nThe lid of the isotherm jug must be closed tightly towards the left as far
as possible when making and keeping coffee hot, figure 11.

nTo serve the coffee, press down the lever on the lid isotherm jug, figure
10.
nThis coffee maker has a non-drip system which allows you to serve
coffee before all of the water has passed through the filter. Place the
isotherm jug back in position rapidly to avoid any overflows.
nWait for a few minutes before making coffee again.
4. CLEANING
nTo remove the used coffee, remove the filter holder from the coffee maker
figures 8 and 9.
nUnplug the appliance.
nDo not clean the appliance when it is still hot.
nClean with a soft cloth or a damp sponge.
nDo not immerse the appliance in water or place it under running water.
nThe filter holder is dishwasher-safe.
5. DESCALING
nDescale your coffee maker every 40 cycles or so.
You can use:
- either a sachet of descaler from the shops diluted in ½ litre of cold
water.
- or 2 large cups of commercial white vinegar available from hardware
stores.
nPour the descaling solution into the water tank (4) and switch on the
coffee maker (without any coffee in it).
nLet half of the solution pour into the isotherm jug (7), then turn the
appliance off by pressing the "On / Off" button, figure 7.
nLeave for one hour.
nSwitch the coffee maker on again and run through the rest of the
descaling solution.
nRinse the coffee maker by operating it 2 or 3 times with 1 litre of water
and without coffee.
The guarantee does not cover coffee makers which dysfunction or no
longer function due to a lack of descaling.
6. TROUBLESHOOTING
nCheck:
- the plug/socket
- that the "ON-OFF" switch (indicator light lit) is in the ON position.
