IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or
injury to persons including the following:
■Read all instructions.
■Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.

handle.
■Do not clean container with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive

■Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
■Before connecting the appliance, check that the supply voltage of your
installation corresponds to that of the appliance and that the socket is
earthed.
Any connection error will cancel the warranty.
■Any intervention other than cleaning and usual maintenance by the
customer must be carried out by an approved service centre.
■If the power cord or plug is damaged, do not use the appliance. To avoid

any danger, have the power cord replaced by the manufacturer, its after-
sales service, an approved service centre or similarly qualified persons.

out with appliances selected at random, which explains any evidence of
use.
■The glass jug is safe to use in the microwave and dishwasher.
■Do not use the jug without its lid.
■The milk frother and jug are water-resistant, but should not be washed in
the dishwasher. Make sure that you clean the milk frother after each use
to avoid the accumulation of milk and residue.
■While the machine is in operation, do not touch the milk jug because it has
a high temperature and could cause burns.
■Splashes of milk can cause burns. Only use the milk jug with its lid.
■The milk jug should only be used with the base supplied with it. Do not
use the base to heat any item other than the milk jug supplied with your
appliance.
■After switching on your coffee maker, never put your hand on the hotplate
when you are removing the jug from the its support. While in operation,
this plate has a very high temperature, which could cause burns.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A. A short power cord or a detachable power cord is provided to reduce the risks of becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord accidentally.

B. Longer detachable power cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised
in their use.
C. If a long detachable power cord or an extension cord is used:
1) the marked electrical rating of the detachable power cord or extension cord should be at least
as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.
2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding type 3-wire
cord.
3) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter where it can be
pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. The appliance may have a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit
into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug.
If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in anyway.
DESCRIPTION
RECOMMENDATIONS
Before using your appliance for the first time
■ Remove all packaging, stickers and accessories from inside and outside the appliance - fig.1.
■ Run the filter coffee maker once without adding coffee using the equivalent of one Carafe of water to rinse
it (maximum 1 litre).
■ Wash the milk jug and the accessories with hot soapy water.
During use
■ Do not move the appliance during operation.
■ Do not unlock the milk jug while the appliance is heating.
■ While the machine is in operation, do not touch the milk jug or the glass Carafe as this could cause burns
- fig.2.
At the end of the cycle
■ Unlock the milk jug before picking it up.
■ Use the handle provided.
■ To open the lid, pull it upwards - fig.3.
■ Place the lid gently on a flat surface - fig.4.

CHOICE OF INGREDIENTS
Coffee
Opt for coffee that is suitable for filter coffee makers. Most commercially available ground filter coffee can
be found in most good supermarkets. Avoid special espresso ground coffee because it can be too strong
and bitter for this type of preparation.
Close the packet of ground filter coffee carefully after use. To ensure the coffee stays fresh during storage,
seal the packet of coffee after removing as much air as possible. Once opened, the packet of coffee should
be kept in the fridge.
What variety of coffee should I choose?
■ For full-flavoured coffee
Go for pure Arabica coffee for use in filter coffee machines or coffee mainly made up of Arabica blends.
Traditionally roasted coffee is preferred because its flavour offers more complexity and finesse.
■ For strong coffee
Choose a blend of Robusta and Arabica beans for a more robust tasting coffee.
Milk
■ This appliance allows you to froth and/or heat milk in two different ways in terms of frothing and
temperature.
■ You may use skimmed, semi-skimmed or whole milk.
■ The use of special milk (enriched, soya, etc.) may give less satisfactory results particularly in terms of the
quality of the froth.
■ We always recommend using fresh, cold milk for best results.
Your ideas
■ To flavour your drinks, you can use syrup, (hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, cookies n’cream, gingerbread, etc.).
■ You can use caramel or chocolate toppings to garnish your drink.
■ Chocolate or coloured vermicelli, chocolate flakes, toasted hazelnuts and mini-marshmallows will give your
drinks a decorative touch.
Note: do not put ingredients such as syrup, dessert toppings or pieces of chocolate, etc directly
into the milk jug.
MAKING COFFEE
You can make the coffee separately from the milk or at the same time.
To do this:
■ Open the lid (a) - fig.5.
■ Fill the water tank with cold water (b) - fig.6.
■ Place a No. 4 filter paper in the filter holder - fig.8. Check that the filter holder is correctly in place. If this
is not the case, insert the filter holder vertically them fold down the handle - fig.7.
■ Measure in the required quantity of coffee - fig.9.
Dosage : We recommend using one level measuring spoon (n) of coffee per large cup.
■ Close the lid - fig.10.
■ Press to start the cycle. The button remains lit all the time while the coffee is being prepared - fig.11.
■ Your coffee maker comes with an automatic keep warm function. At the end of the brewing cycle, it will
automatically switch off after 30 min.
■ If you do not want to use the keep warm function, press at end of the brewing cycle.
■ The button is no longer lit and the coffee maker will switch off.

Do not exceed the maximum quantity of water shown on the tank water level indicator.
Once the cycle has ended, wait for a few minutes before making a second pot of coffee.
Do not try to make more coffee, if the Carafe already contains some coffee.
■ Your coffee maker is fitted with a drip stop function allowing you to serve coffee before the end of the
cycle. Once your coffee has been served, replace the jug to avoid any overflowing.
CLEANING YOUR COFFEE MAKER
To clean your coffee maker
■ Unplug the appliance.
■ Open the lid.
■ Remove the used filter paper:
- either by taking it out directly.
- or by lifting the filter holder out by the handle - fig.12 (if you remove the filter holder, make sure that you
replace it correctly as in fig. 7).
■ Clean with a soft cloth or damp sponge, some hot water and a little mild dish soap .
■ Do not clean the appliance while it is still hot - fig.14.
■ Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. - fig.15.
Dishwasher
■ The filter holder and the glass Carafe are dishwasher-safe.
DESCALING YOUR COFFEE MAKER
■ Descale your coffee maker:
- Every 40 cycles
■ If in doubt, ask the local water authority in your area to find out how hard your water is.
■ You can use:
- Either one sachet of descaler suitable for use in kettles or coffee makers diluted in 2 cups of water.
- Or 2 cups of commercially available white vinegar which can be purchased from your local hardware
store.
■ Pour the prepared descaling solution into the water tank (b) and start the coffee maker (without coffee).
■ Leave the equivalent of one cup to drip into the Carafe (e), then switch off.
■ Leave to work for one hour.
■ Start the coffee maker up again to finish the cycle.
■ Run the coffee maker 2 or 3 times with the equivalent of one Carafe of fresh tap water to rinse it.
The warranty will not be honored for non- working coffee makers when descaling is not being
carried out regularly.
USING THE MILK UG
■ Check that the milk jug is unlocked - fig.16.
■ Pick up the jug by the handle provided for this purpose - fig.17.
■ Remove the lid and place it on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
■ Pour the milk into the jug without exceeding the maximum level making sure you reach the minimum level.
The maximum and minimum levels of milk are shown by markings inside the pot (Maximum: 250mL,
Minimum: 170mL) - fig.18.
■ Put the lid back on the jug - fig.19.
■ Position the milk jug on the hotplate (k) provided for this purpose - fig.20.
■ Check that the milk jug is correctly positioned on the hotplate.
■ Lock the milk jug by turning the button to the padlocked position - fig.21.

Drinking chocolate
■ You can use drinking chocolate with more or less sugar. To do this, we recommend adding it directly to
the milk jug. You will obtain a tasty combination without any risk of it overflowing.
■ If you want an authentic hot chocolate, you can use a bar of chocolate. To do this, first of all melt the
chocolate in the microwave or in an oven proof dish over pan of hot water as a bain marie. Prepare the
milk separately and mix the chocolate and milk together in your cup. Do not put pieces of chocolate directly
in the milk jug.
Hot Milk
■ To start heating, press the button.
■ The button lights up and the appliance starts up automatically.
■ When the milk is ready, the button switches off automatically after 6 min maximum.
■ Your appliance is fitted with a sensor that automatically regulates the temperature of the milk inside the
milk jug. Your milk will be heated to the optimum temperature and without risk of overflowing.
■ The frother rotates to give the milk an even temperature.
■ To serve the milk, unlock the jug.
■ Use the handle to pick up the milk jug - fig.22.
■ Remove the lid and place it on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
■ Pour your hot milk.
Frothy Hot Milk
■ To start heating, press the button.
■ The button lights up and the appliance starts up automatically.
■ When the milk is ready, the button switches off automatically after 6 min.
■ Your appliance is fitted with a sensor that automatically regulates the temperature of the milk inside the
milk jug. You will obtain smooth, frothy milk at the correct temperature.
■ To serve the milk, unlock the jug.
■ Use the handle to pick up the milk jug.
■ Remove the lid and place it on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
■ Pour your hot milk.
Tip: you can use a spoon to distribute the milk froth over the cup.
Note: wait for 2 minutes after a milk cycle has finished before starting a new cycle.
CLEANING THE MILK FROTHER
■ Push the rod upwards.
■ Unscrew the end-piece of the frother rod - fig. 25. Be careful not to lose the end-piece.
■ Remove the rod by sliding it out - fig. 26.
■ Run the lid and the rod under the tap to clean them - fig. 27.
■ Fit the rod back on the lid and screw the end-piece on tightly so as to make the assembly ready for use
again - fig. 28.
Dishwasher
■ The milk jug and milk frother lid are not dishwasher-safe.
■ It is advisable to wash the milk jug and the milk frother lid with hot water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge
straight after use for easy cleaning.
■ Do not use abrasive products for cleaning they will damage the appliance.

Limits of use
■ This appliance is used for frothing and/or heating milk. It is not designed for heating other
liquids or preparations (soups, sauces, etc.).
Spoonful of Easy Latte Macchiato
Your appliance has a cappuccino accessory for making your preparations containing coffee and frothed hot
milk. This accessory allows you to produce levels of coffee and frothed milk in the same container.
■ Pour the hot milk and froth into the cup (2/3) - fig.22.
■ Position the Easy Latte Macchiato spoon above the cup - fig.23.
■ Slowly pour the coffee through the Easy Latte Macchiato spoon (1/3) - fig.24.

The manu acturer's warranty by Krups is an extra bene it which does not a ect consumer's Statutory
Rights.
The Krups warranty covers all costs related to restoring the proven de ective product so that it
con orms to its original speci ications, through the repair or replacement o any de ective part and
the necessary labor. At Krups’s choice, a replacement product may be provided instead o repairing
a de ective product. Krups’s sole obligation and your exclusive resolution under this warranty are
limited to such repair or replacement.
Conditions & Exclusions
The Krups warranty only applies within USA, Canada & Mexico, and is valid only on presentation o
a proo o purchase. The product can be taken directly in person to an authorized service centre or
must be adequately packaged and returned, by recorded delivery (or equivalent method o postage),
to a Krups authorized service centre. Full address details or each country’s authorized service centre
are listed on the Krups website (www.krups.com) or by calling the appropriate telephone number
listed below to request the appropriate postal address.
Krups shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product which is not accompanied by a valid
proo o purchase.
This warranty will not cover any damage which could occur as a result o misuse, negligence, ailure
to ollow Krups instructions, use on current or voltage other than as stamped on the product, or a
modi ication or unauthorized repair o the product. It also does not cover normal tear and wear,
maintenance or replacement o consumable parts, and the ollowing:
-using the wrong type o water
-scaling (any de-scaling must be carried out according to the instructions or use);
-ingress o water, dust or insects into the product;
-mechanical damages, overloading
-damages or bad results due to wrong voltage or requency
-accidents including ire, lood, lightning, etc
-pro essional or commercial use
-damage to any glass or porcelain ware in the product
This warranty does not apply to any product that has been tampered with, or to damages incurred
through improper use and care, aulty packaging by the owner or mishandling by any carrier.
The Krups manu acturer's warranty applies only or products purchased and used in USA, Canada
& Mexico. Where a product purchased in one country and then used in another one:
a) The Krups guarantee duration is the one in the country o usage o the product, even i the
product was purchased in another listed country with di erent guarantee duration.
b) The Krups guarantee does not apply in case o non con ormity o the purchased product
with the local standards, such as voltage, requency, power plugs, or other local technical
speci ications
c) The repair process or products purchased outside the country o use may require a longer
time i the product is not locally sold by Krups
d) In cases where the product is not repairable in the new country, the Krups guarantee is
limited to a replacement by a similar product or an alternative product at similar cost, where
possible.

préparation pour éviter l'accumulation de lait et de résidus.
■Ne pas toucher le pot à lait pendant le fonctionnement de l’appareil car il atteint
des températures élevées et pourrait causer des blessures.
■Les éclaboussures de lait peuvent provoquer des brûlures. Utiliser le pot à lait

INSTRUCTIONS POUR LE CORDON COURT
A. Un cordon d’alimentation court ou amovible est fourni avec l’appareil pour éviter qu’il ne s’emmêle
ou qu’on trébuche dessus.
B. Des rallonges et des cordons plus longs peuvent être utilisés, mais l'utilisateur doit prendre les
précautions nécessaires.
C. Si vous utilisez une rallonge ou un cordon d’alimentation plus long :
1) Le calibre spécifié sur le cordon ou la rallonge doit être égal ou supérieur à celui indiqué sur
l’appareil.
2) Si l’appareil est mis à la terre, le cordon ou la rallonge doit être du type mis à la terre (à 3 fils).
3) Le cordon d’alimentation doit être placé de façon à ce qu’il ne pende pas du plan de travail ou
du haut de la table car un enfant pourrait tirer dessus ou trébucher accidentellement.
L’appareil peut être équipé d’une prise polarisée (une lame est plus large que l’autre). Pour réduire
les risques de chocs électriques, cette fiche ne peut se brancher que dans un sens. Si la fiche ne
rentre pas correctement dans la prise murale, retournez-la. Si elle ne rentre toujours pas, contactez
un électricien. N’essayez en aucune façon de modifier la prise.

Avant la première utilisation
■ Enlever tous les emballages, autocollants ou accessoires divers à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur de
l’appareil - fig.1.
■ Faire fonctionner une première fois votre cafetière filtre sans café avec l’équivalent d’une carafe d’eau
pour la rincer (maximum 1 litre).
■ Nettoyer le pot à lait ainsi que les accessoires à l’eau chaude savonneuse.
En cours d’utilisation
■ Ne pas déplacer l’appareil pendant son fonctionnement.
■ Ne pas déverrouiller le pot à lait lors du cycle de chauffe.
■ Ne pas toucher le pot à lait ou la carafe en verre en cours d’utilisation afin d’éviter toute brûlure - fig.2.
En fin de cycle
■ Déverrouiller le pot à lait avant de le prendre en main.
■ Utiliser la poignée prévue à cet effet.
■ Pour ouvrir le couvercle, le tirer par le dessus - fig.3.

CHOIX DES INGRÉDIENTS
e café
Il faut choisir des cafés dont la mouture est adaptée à la préparation des cafés filtres. La plupart des cafés moulus
du commerce conviendront, sauf s’il y a une mention spéciale à cet effet sur l’emballage. Les cafés moulus
spécialement pour l’espresso sont à éviter car le café pourrait être trop corsé et trop amer pour ce type de
préparation.
Refermer soigneusement le sachet de café moulu entamé après usage. Pour s’assurer que le café conserve sa
fraîcheur, fermer hermétiquement le sachet de café après avoir enlevé un maximum d’air. Conserver le sachet
entamé fermé au réfrigérateur.
Quelle variété de café choisir?
■ Pour un café riche en arômes
Préférer les cafés pur Arabica ou composés en majorité de cafés Arabica. Les cafés de torréfaction
artisanale sont à privilégier car ils offrent plus de complexité et de finesse dans les arômes.
■ Pour un café corsé
Privilégier les mélanges de cafés Robusta pour les cafés filtre - 100% Arabica - ou les cafés de
torréfaction italienne ou spécifiés goût italien.

■ Cet appareil permet de mousser ou de chauffer le lait de deux façons différentes en termes de moussage
et de température.
■ Vous pouvez utiliser du lait écrémé, demi-écrémé ou entier.
■ L’utilisation de laits spéciaux (enrichis, soja,...) peut donner des résultats moins satisfaisants notamment
en terme de qualité de la mousse.
■ Nous vous conseillons d’utiliser toujours du lait frais et froid pour de meilleurs résultats.
Vos idées
■ Pour aromatiser vos boissons, vous pouvez utiliser des sirops (noisette, vanille, caramel, biscuits, pain
d’épices…).
■ Vous pouvez utiliser des coulis au caramel ou au chocolat pour agrémenter vos créations.
■ Des vermicelles au chocolat ou colorés, des copeaux de chocolat, des noisettes grillées et mini-guimauves
donneront une touche décorative à vos préparations.
Note : Ne pas mettre les ingrédients tels que le sirop, le coulis, les morceaux de chocolat etc.

PRÉPARATION DU CAFÉ
Le café peut être préparé indépendamment du lait ou en même temps.
Pour cela :
■ Ouvrir le couvercle (a) - fig.5.
■ Remplir le réservoir d’eau froide (b) - fig.6.
■ Placer un filtre papier n°4 dans le porte-filtre - fig.8. Vérifier que le porte-filtre est bien en place. Si ce
n’est pas le cas, insérer le porte-filtre verticalement puis rabattre l’anse - fig.7.
■ Verser la quantité de café désirée - fig.9.
Dosage : Nous conseillons de mettre une cuillère à mesurer (n) rase de café par grande tasse.
■ Refermer le couvercle - fig.10.
■ Appuyer sur pour lancer le cycle. Le bouton reste allumé tout le temps de la préparation du café - fig.11.
■ Cette cafetière est équipée d’une fonction de maintien au chaud automatique. Elle s’éteindra
automatiquement 30 min après le démarrage du cycle.
■ Pour ne pas utiliser la fonction de maintien au chaud, appuyer à nouveau sur à la fin du cycle.
■ Le bouton n’est plus éclairé, la cafetière est éteinte.
