product before delivering to the customer.
The customer’s purchase is based on confidence in both the product and your store. Observe the
procedures in this manual to assemble and adjust equipment for your customer’s safety and
satisfaction. When fully assembled, check function of each part and feature.

SAFETY
To prevent accidents, read through the following items
before starting work, and always regard safety when
working. It is your responsibility to ensure your safety on
the job.
1. Preparations
(1) Select a work site which is level, sufficiently
spacious and not in the vicinity of dangerous
objects.
(2) Avoid poorly ventilated rooms. Asphyxiation from
exhaust fumes is always a possibility that
accompanies running engine.
(3) Working clothes which may be pinched or caught
in the equipment must not be worn. Loose
clothing can cause serious injury or death.
(4) Always wear a mask and protective goggles
during work when dust or flying debris is thrown
about.
2. Assembly and adjustments
(1) Before assembling equipment, read the assembly
instructions for the product to become familiar
with the equipment and procedures.
(2) Use only adequate and required equipment, tools
and instruments (torque wrench or battery
hydrometer).
(3) Set the parking brake and place blocks in front of
wheels (when they're contacting the ground) to
prevent machine movement.
(4) Lower the attachment or implement to the ground
before assembling or adjusting equipment.
(5) Before working under suspended or raised
equipment, support the equipment or attachment
to prevent the machine from falling or moving out
of place.
(6) Keep fire from cigarettes, matches or other
ignition sources away from fuel, oil, antifreeze and
other flammable materials.
3. After assembly check
(1) Once the equipment is fully assembled, select a
safe place for a test run. Prevent onlookers from
approaching the equipment.
To avoid serious injury or death:
ADo not start engine or operate levers from
anywhere other than the seat.
To avoid serious injury or death:
ADo not bypass-start the equipment. Short
circuiting the starter terminal runs the risk that
the equipment will start operating or moving
unexpectedly.

UNPACKING AND CHECKING PARTS
BUNPACKING WOODEN CRATE
1. Hook a hoist to the 4 corners of the crate and raise the
hoist cable until taut.
This serves to prevent the upper part of the crate from
striking the machine when cut.
2. Saw the crate as indicated in the figure on the right.
ASawing outside the indicated area may damage the
machine or accessory parts.
ABe sure that the crate is free of other obstructions (e.g.
nails, staples and etc.).
3. Raise the upper part of crate and remove from the
immediate area.
4. Remove the remaining slats from the crate.
These are indicated by the oblique lines in Figure 1.

BUNPACKING IRON CRATE
1. Hook nylon ropes at the four corners of the iron-crate's
top stay. Pull up the nylon ropes until they get just tight.
2. Remove the six bolts from behind the vertical supports
on both sides of the iron crate.
3. Lift and detach the top frame of the iron crate.
AIn lifting the top frame, be careful to keep the crate's
vertical supports from scratching the machine.

4. Unlocking both ends of the rear axle
Remove the snap pins off both ends of the rear axle,
and draw out the headed pins.
5. Removing the fixtures from the machine front
(1) Remove the bolts that join the fixture to the iron
crate bottom.
(2) Hoist the machine.
(3) Remove the bolts that connect the fixture to the
weight. Then detach the fixture.
AScrew the removed bolts and plain washers into the
open holes of the weight, and secure the weight in
position.

ASSEMBLY
BPreparations for Assembling the Lift Base
1. Make a team of two to do this job.
2. Remove the bolt (3) and nut (4) from the lift rod (for
both sides).
The bolt (3) will be used again to reassemble this
component. Be careful not to lose them. (The nut (4)
will not be reused.)
3. Remove the bolt (1) that secures the bottom of the lift
base to the crate member (5) (for both sides). (The
bolt, nut and washer will not be reused.)
4. Remove the three bolts (2) that secure the frame to the
crate member (5) (for both sides).
The bolts (2) will be used again to reassemble this
component. Be careful not to lose them. (The crate
member (5) will not be reused.)

BInstalling the Lift Base
1. Draw out the cylinder.
Remove the snap pin (1) first and then draw the
headed pin (2) and cylinder (3) out of the lift base (4).
2. Move the lift base up to the level of the lift base
mounting frame (5).
3. Temporarily fix the lift base (4) to the mounting frame
(5) with the M10x25 bolts (7) (3 pcs. for each side).
4. Fix the cylinder (3) to the lift base (4) with the headed
pin (2) and snap pin (1).
AMake sure the coupling (6) of the cylinder (3) faces
outwards. (See the figure below).
AInsert the headed pin (2) from outside.
BInstalling the Lift Arms (Upper and Lower)
AThere are two upper lift arms. The lift arm that has a
stay is for the right side. Be careful not to confuse the
right and left ones and to keep the stay outward.
CLift base side
Using bolts, washers, collars and nuts, install the upper lift
arm and the lower lift arm to the lift base.
Tightening torque : 40 to 50 N-m (4.1 to 5.1 kgf-m)
ASet the washer on the nut side. Insert the bolt from the
outside. For the lower lift arm, set the cylinder
mounting bracket downward
AApply grease between the lift arm and the lift base.

(Right side lower lift arm)
1. Remove the headed pins and take off the arm cam
from the bag base.
2. At the right side, using the arm cam, collars and
washers, install the lower lift arm.
3. Fix the arm cam with the headed pin and the snap pin.
ASet the washers on the inside of the bag base only.
(Left side lower lift arm)
Using bolts, washers, collars and nuts, install the lower lift
arm to the bag base.
Tightening torque : 40 to 50 N-m (4.1 to 5.1 kgf-m)
ASet the washers on both sides. Insert the bolt from the
outside.
AApply grease between the lift arm and the bag base.
(Upper lift arm)
The position of the hole for setting is different between
GZD15 and GZD21.
Using bolts, washers, collars and nuts, install the upper lift
arms to the bag base.
Tightening torque : 40 to 50 N-m (4.1 to 5.1 kgf-m)
ASet washer on both sides. Insert the bolt from the
outside. (Same as the left side lower lift arm.)
AApply grease between the lift arm and the bag base.

BInstalling the Lift Rod
Temporarily fix the lift rod (2) to the lift base (1) with the
M10 x 16 bolts (3) on both sides. Tighten up the bolts.
Tightening torque: 48.1-55.9 N-m (4.9-5.7 kgf-m)
BInstalling the Cylinder
Using the headed pin (3) and snap pin (4), connect the
cylinder (2) to the lower lift arm (1).
BTightening the Bolts
Tighten up the M10x25 bolts (2) (3 pcs. for each side) to
the lift base (1).
Tightening torque: 48.1 to 55.9 N-m (4.9 to 5.7 kgf-m)

BGZD15HD & GZD21 Hose Clamp Positions ALift the back base to its top limit and clamp it tightly.
AMake sure the hoses are parallel, not crossing each
other.
AMake sure that the hoses are clamped on the upper lift
arm.
AMove up and down the back base to make sure that
the hoses do not stretch tight, nor come into contact
with the lift base and rear tires.
BPutting the Tires
1. Lifting the machine
For the front, apply nylon slings around the front axle.
For the rear, apply nylon slings around the right and
left frames.

2. Putting the front tires
Fix the tire (1) to the front axle with the bolt (2) and nut (3).
Tightening torque: 20 to 25 N-m (2.0 to 2.5 kgf-m)
AWhen removing the hubcap from the front wheel, be
careful not to drop and lose the collar.
ADirect the wheel bracket backwards and place the tire
(1) with the air valve outwards, as shown below.
ATurn the front tire by hand to make sure it turns
smoothly.
AInsert the bolt (2) from outside and apply the nut (3)
inside.
ATighten the nut gradually until wheel bearing play is
eliminated and wheel turns freely by hand.
3. Putting the rear tires
Fix the tire (1) to the rear axle with the bolts (2) (4 pcs. for
each side).
Tightening torque: 77.5 to 90.2 N-m (7.9 to 9.2 kgf-m)
AFor the tire pressure, refer to the Operator's Manual.
APlace the tire (1) with the air valve outwards.
BAttaching the Mower
1. Fix the universal joint to the mower with a bolt.
[42" only]
2. Set the front anti scalp rollers and fix the mower cover
with bolts.
3. Place the front tires just sideways and slide in the
mower from the machine side.
4. Attach the front link to the mower deck with clevis pin
and snap pin.
AMake sure the mower deck's discharge port is inside
the duct. Otherwise, the duct may get damaged when
the mower is raised.

5. Align the rod of the link (1) with the mower's arm (2).
Lock them up together (for both sides).
[GZD15 only]
6. Hook the spring (2), which hangs the duct cover (1), to
the stay (3) on the mower deck.
7. Set the quick clean lever to the mower deck.
AFor fitting the mower's universal joint, refer to the
Operator's Manual.
AFor adjusting the mower's levelness, refer also to the
Operator's Manual.

Attach the label to the backside of a seat.

SÉCURITÉ
Pour éviter des accidents, lire attentivement les points
suivants avant de commencer à travailler et toujours tenir
compte de la sécurité en travaillant. Vous avez la
responsabilité d'assurer votre sécurité en travaillant.
1. Préparations
(1) Sélectionner un emplacement de travail de
niveau, suffisamment spacieux et loin de tout
objet dangereux.
(2) Eviter les salles mal ventilées. L'asphyxie
provoquée par les gaz d'échappement est
toujours un risque présent lorsqu'on fait tourner
un moteur.
(3) Ne pas porter des vêtements de travail pouvant
se prendre dans l'équipement. Les vêtements
lâches peut être la cause de blessures sévères
voire mortelles.
(4) Toujours porter un masque et des lunettes de
protection en travaillant lorsque de la poussière
ou des débris volant sont projetés autour.
2. Montage et ajustements
(1) Avant de monter l'équipement, lire les instructions
de montage pour le produit pour vous familiariser
avec l'équipement et les procédures.
(2) N'utiliser que l'équipement, les outils et les
instruments (clé dynamométrique ou densimètre
de batterie) adéquats et requis.
(3) Serrer le frein de stationnement et mettre des
cales devant les roues (lorsqu'elles touchent le
sol) pour éviter tout mouvement de la machine
(de la machine).
(4) Abaisser l'accessoire ou l'attachement au sol
avant de monter ou d'ajuster l'équipement.
(5) Avant de travailler sous un équipement suspendu
ou surélevé, supporter l'équipement ou
l'accessoire pur éviter que la machine ne tombe
ou ne se déplace.
(6) Ne pas approcher le feu de cigarettes,
d'allumettes ou d'autres sources du combustible,
de l'huile de l'antigel et des autres matières
inflammables.
3. Vérification après montage
(1) Lorsque l'équipement est entièrement assemblé,
sélectionner un endroit sûr pour une marche
d'essai. Eviter que les passants ne s'approchent
de l'equipement.
Pour éviter dêtre gravement blessé ou de mourir:
ANe jamais démarrer le moteur ni actionner des
leviers depuis un autre emplacement que le
siège.
Pour éviter dêtre gravement blessé ou de mourir:
ANe pas démarrer l'équipement en faisant un
court-circuit. Le court-circuitage des bornes du
démarreur implique le risque que l'équipement
peut se mettre à fonctionnement ou à se
déplacer de manière inattendue.

DÉBALLAGE ET VÉRICATION DES
PIÈCES
BDÉBALLAGE DE LA CAISSE À CLAIRE-
VOIE
1. Accrocher un palan aux 4 coins de la caisse à claire-
voie et soulever le câble du palan jusqu'à ce qu'il soit
tendu.
Cela sert à empêcher la partie supérieure de la caisse
à claire-voie de heurter la machine lors du sciage.
2. Scier la caisse, comme il est indiqué sur la figure de
droite.
AUn sciage hors de la zone indiquée risque
d'endommager la machine ou les équipements
accessoires.
AS'assurer que la caisse à claire-voie est exempte de
toutes obstructions (par ex., clous, crampons,
cavaliers, etc.).
3. Soulever la partie supérieure de la caisse à claire-voie
et retirer de la zone immédiate.
4. Retirer les lattes restantes de la caisse.
Elles sont indiquées par des lignes obliques ombrées
sur la Figure 1. .....//////////
BDÉBALLAGE DE LA CAISSE À CLAIRE-
VOIE EN FER
1. Accrocher les filins en nylon aux quatre coins du
support supérieur de la caisse à claire-voie en fer.
Tirer sur les filins en nylon jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient bien
serrés.
2. Retirer les six boulons de derrières les supports
verticaux sur les deux côtés de la caisse à claire-voie
en fer.
3. Soulever et détacher le bâti supérieur de la caisse à
claire-voie en fer.
AEn soulevant le bâti supérieur, prendre garde à ce que
les supports verticaux de la caisse à claire-voie
n'éraflent pas la machine.

4. Déblocage des deux extrémités de l'essieu arrière.
Retirer les goupilles de retenue aux deux extrémités
de l'essieu arrière et enlever les goupilles de tête.
5. Enlèvement du dispositif de fixation à l'avant de la
machine
(1) Retirer les boulons qui assemblent le dispositif de
fixation à la partie inférieure de la caisse à claire-
voie en fer.
(2) Hisser la machine.
(3) Retirer les boulons qui assemblent le dispositif de
fixation au poids. Puis, détacher le dispositif de
fixation.
AVisser les boulons retirés et les rondelles de serrage
dans les orifices ouverts du poids, et fixer le poids en
position.

ASSEMBLAGE
BPréparatifs pour l'assemblage de la base
de levage
1. Ce travail doit s'effectuer avec deux personnes.
2. Retirer le boulon (3) et l'écrou (4) de la tige de levage
(pour les deux côtés).
Les boulons (3) devront être utilisés à nouveau pour
remonter cet élément. Prendre garde de ne pas les
perdre. (L'écrou (4) ne sera pas réutilisé.)
3. Retirer le boulon (1) qui fixe la partie inférieure de la
base de levage à la membrure de la caisse à claire-
voie (5) (pour les deux côtés). (Le boulon, l'écrou et la
rondelle ne seront pas réutilisés.)
4. Retirer les trois boulons (2) qui fixent le bâti à la
membrure de la caisse à claire-voie (5) (pour les deux
côtés).
Les boulons (2) seront utilisés à nouveau pour
remonter cet élément. Prendre garde de ne pas les
perdre. (La membrure de la caisse à claire-voie (5) ne
sera pas réutilisée.)

BInstallation de la base de levage
1. Retirer le cylindre.
Enlever tout d'abord la goupille de retenue (1), puis
retirer la goupille de tête (2) et le cylindre (3) de la base
de levage (4).
2. Déplacer la base de levage jusqu'au niveau du bâti de
montage (5) de la base de levage.
3. Fixer temporairement la base de levage (4) au bâti de
montage (5) avec les boulons M10 x 25 (7) (3 pièces
pour chaque côté).
4. Fixer le cylindre (3) à la base de levage (4) avec la
goupille de tête (2) et la goupille de retenue (1).
AS'assurer que le coupleur (6) du cylindre (3) soit
orienté vers l'extérieur. (Voir la figure ci-dessous.)
AInsérer la goupille de tête (2) à partir de l'extérieur.
BInstallation des bras de levage (supérieur
et inférieur)
AIl y a deux bras de levage supérieurs. Le bras de
levage qui a un support est pour le côté droit. Prendre
garde de ne pas confondre celui de droite et de
gauche et de maintenir le support vers l'extérieur.
CCôté de la base de levage
En utilisant les boulons, les rondelles, les collerettes et les
écrous, installer le bras de levage supérieur et le bras de
levage inférieur à la base de levage.
Couple de serrage : 40 à 50 N-m (4,1 à 5,1 kgf-m)
AInstaller la rondelle sur le côté de l'écrou. Insérer le
boulon à partir de l'extérieur. Pour le bras de levage
inférieur, placer le support de montage du cylindre
vers le bas.
