Model 820 Key Functions
White Primary function keys, push button directly
Shift Press Ukey first to access blue keys
Arrow Change or modify info in fields, use w/other keys

BATT Percentage power remaining in 9 V battery
CAL Calibration information and control
Cancel Return to previous function or cancel present func-
tion (acts as an ESCAPE key to exit out of a menu)
DOSE Dose and Projected Dose %
ENTER Enter new parameters selected by user
EXCD History for noise exceeding a programmed level
HIST Short interval Leq time history
INTV Statistical Interval History
LDL Allows user to recalculate TWA, SEL, dose, pro-
jected dose readings with new exchange
LDN TWA with 10 dB penalty
Leq Equivalent Level=TWA based on 3dB
Lmax Maximum SPL for overall measurement
Lmin Minimum SPL for overall measurement
Ln SPL exceeded n% of run time, 4 user selectable
Ln’s shown
LOCK Access to lock system
LOG Log of all Run/Stop actions which start /stop data
taking process
MEM Displays available memory & number of stored

OFF Turn 820 off
ON Turn 820 on (when on acts same as “Cancel”)

Alpha-Numeric Keyboard Layout
Alpha-numeric keys are available to enter 3 lines for the
Company Name and 1 line for Measurement Title. To enter
company and measurement information:
• Press Rm02e
•Choose name for reports and enter using alpha-numeric
keypad as shown at left. Note that multiple shift presses are
necessary to enter certain characters
• Press mand choose letters for name
• After entering name, press edto move to next line
•Press mand enter letter for line 2
• Press edto move to line 3
• Press m, enter letters for line 3,
• Press edto move to line 4, and enter the
Measurement Title
•Press e(name appears on main screen)
• Press c to return to main screen
Setup Key Functions by Number
• All parameters are accessed through Rkey
•Each parameter is assigned a parameter number
•Press R. Press m
• Enter item # of parameter (820 Manual chap 8) and press
e. Time, Day, Week, parameters 6-8
•Scroll through parameters using ud
•Top of parameters list: Press Uu
• Bottom of Parameter list: Ud
Setup Key Functions by Key
Major parameters (listed on keypad) are accessed by pressing
R and desired parameter key or by pressing R, U,
and desired parameter key. For example, to access the interval
parameters, press RM.
Lock Parameters
• Access Lock Parameter: RUL P
•Personal password: m, enter 1-8 characters, e
• Lock Options: parameters 28-34
• Unlock system: ULm enter password, e
SLM Key Options
Current SLM, Min, Max, Pk, UW, Leq, SEL; Alm Time,

•s8 = Short Form
•s9 = Long Form
To print reports:
•sR = Setup List
•sS = Print Last
•sB = Histograms
•sUH= Run Log

lizing (approximately 45 sec)
•= Stop mode. No data is being taken (upper right hand
corner of display)
• = Run Mode (upper right hand corner of display)
• O = (or V, L, D) Overload. These letters in succession
replace the figure each 8 seconds when Overload occurs
anytime during measurement
• f = (flashing) Function keys are used for different purpose
in the current function
• n = (flashing) Numeric key input mode is active
•S,2,3 = Ukey (multiple presses allow access to dif-
ferent areas of the alpha-numeric keypad)
