This manual will enable you to handle your motor boat safely and with pleasure.
The manual contains information about the boat itself and about installed or
additionally supplied equipment. Beside that it informs about operation and
maintenance, too. Please familiarize yourself with all this before you start your
ourney.
If this is your first motor boat or if you are not familiar with the special
characteristics of a motor boat, please - for your own safety and comfort - pay
attention to the handling of the boat before you put it into operation. The shipyard
or the national sailing and motor yacht association will inform you about local
boating schools and training offers, if you want to broaden your knowledge or
brush them up this way.
An owner‘s manual is a technical document that describes a boat and its
technical systems. It helps the skipper to operate the boat and its systems safely
and it enables you to identify and repair defects. Furthermore it helps the owner
in regard to maintenance and up keeping the boat. So its value could be kept up.
But an owner manual can’t replace the necessary knowledge of seamanship.
PLEASE KEEP THIS MANUAL IN A SAFE PLACE AND HAND IT
OVER TO THE NEW OWNER IF YOU SELL IT.

Recommended checks before starting operation:
Please perform a visual inspection of the hull, the cockpits, the engine
compartment and the bilge. In this way obvious damages can be discovered and
necessary rectifications effected.
In and near port areas use low speeds only; remember a motorboat has no
brakes. It is sufficient to shift the gear with no-load revolutions in order to reach
the necessary speed. Always shove off in a right angle to the waterside and pay
attention to the speed limitation of the waterside area.
Some remarks regarding driving characteristics of your LATREX 335 motor boat:
While maneuvering pay attention to the characteristics of a boat with an outboard
engine. Single engine boats with a clockwise rotating propeller (RH expression)
can be set more simply on port side, such with an anti-clockwise rotating
propeller therefore on starboard side.
Moving astern should always be done at the lowest speed, so that there is
always enough time and space for corrections.
Your LATREX-boat was certified according to the EC Directive for Recreational
Crafts as a “motorboat intended for voyages inside of sheltered waters“. Use
your LATREX-boat in the appropriate manner. Navigate in heavy sea only if you
cannot avoid it.
Ad ice for engine and gear:
Shift the gear only if the engine is at idling speed. Shifting gears at more than
1000 rpm can cause damage to the boat, the engine or the transmission.
If you want to switch off the engine, please put the lever into neutral position and
do not accelerate anymore. Only then can the engine be switched off by turning
the ignition key to the left.
Type-determination:
In spare part orders, please indicate engine model and series number. The
engine model specification is located on top of the cylinder head; the series
number of the engine is on the right side of the engine in the lower area. The sign
for the transmission number is mounted on the upper transmission side. (see
engine-manual)

Electronic injection (gasoline engine):
Most engines possess an electronic in ection which is controlled by a control unit
(ecm). It continually receives and processes information from different sensors, in
order to guarantee optimal and economical operation of the engine. In case of
any problems with the engine, please contact the dealer.
Warning system:
The engine is equipped with a warning system, which permanently checks cool
water temperature and oil pressure. If one of the two exceeds the permitted limit,
an acoustic warning signal will sound, which you will also hear when turning the
ignition key to the right in order to start the motor. An additional indicator lamp is
also installed. It is located in the instrument panel next to the ignition key.
Starting the engine:
Before starting the engine, you should control the engine compartment for
possible leaks of flammable liquids.
It must be guaranteed that the engine gets sufficient cooling water. Insufficient
cooling water supply can lead to overheating of the engine.
CHECKS TO BE CARRIED OUT before starting the engine:
• Search fuel line for leaks, can you smell any fuel?
• Also search cooling system for leaks. Make sure that the water supply to the
system is sufficient. Any traces of water visible on engine or in sump?
• Check steering and transmission. Is the cable of the speed remote control
attached properly?
• Check fuel level, maybe with a dipstick.
• Check the oil level.
Having carried out the above inspections, you can now start the engine as
follows:
1. Shift gear into neutral position. The engine can only be started in neutral
position.
2. With an in ection engine no gas must be given during the ignition process. The
in ection pump controls automatically the required gasoline quantity.
3. Turn the ignition key to the right as far as possible.
If the engine does not start during the first 20 to 30 seconds, turn the ignition key
back into normal position and wait a minute before you try again. As soon as the
engine runs, accelerate a little (approx. 1000 rpm) so that the motor reaches as
quickly as possible the optimal operation temperature. After 30 seconds turn the

Motor boat LATREX 335 SIA LATREX

gas down again. Never give full speed with a cold engine, the engine must be
warmed-up first.
If you shift into forward or reverse gear, make sure that you do not accelerate.
Changing gears at more than 1000 rpm can damage the boat, the engine and the
transmission.
While turning off the engine please pay attention to the following:
- Change the gear lever into neutral position.
- Turn back the ignition key into middle position.
Important points during the first 25 hours of operation :( see motor manual)
The first 25 hours of operation are the most important during the operation of an
engine. Take account of the following points in order to ensure the best
performance of the engine:
During the first 10 hours the engine must not be operating over a longer period at
less than 1500 rpm. During the first hours, shift into gear as soon as possible
after ignition. Do not go at constant speed over a longer period of time!
In the first 10 hours of operation, never exceed 75% of the full power. Go only for
short periods of time at full speed (max. 5 minutes at a time).
Never accelerate to full speed with a cold engine.
Before charging the engine fully, it must have reached a sufficient operating
temperature.
FIRST INSPECTION after 25 hours of operation :
This inspection will be carried out by your engine dealer. The necessary checks
are carried out and, if necessary, additional ad ustments are done at engine,
electronics and transmission.
Changes of engine oil and oil filter
Checking of in ection
Ad usting of the engine
Checking the switchboard cable
Checking the different liquid levels
Checking for leaks in the fuel system
Checking for leaks in the cooling system
Checking the battery cables and connections: is there still enough distilled water?
We recommend the use of engine oil as described in the different engine
manuals. The oil
level of the engine should be checked regularly.
SAFETY ADVICE :

Motor boat LATREX 335 SIA LATREX
10/14
The LATREX-motorboat should be handled by trained and experienced persons
only. Do not leave unreliable persons or children without supervision on board.
Always remove the ignition key!
Operator vision from the helm can be obstructed by high trim angles of the craft
and other factors caused by one or more of the following variable conditions:
• Propulsion-engine trim angles (on craft equipped with a power trim system on
the propulsion unit);
• loading and load distribution;
• speed;
• rapid acceleration;
transition from displacement to planning mode;
• sea conditions;
• rain and spray;
• darkness and fog;
• interior lights;
• position of tops and curtains;
• persons of movable gear in the operator’s field of vision.
The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) and
the rules of the inland water ways (CEVNI) require that a proper lockout be
maintained at all times and observance of right of way. Observance of these
rules is essential.
Some advice for filling the fuel tanks:
Make sure that your boat is moored safely at the quay. The engine must always
be switched off while re-fuelling. For more information read the section on
„advice for engine and gears“.
At the filling station smoking is absolutely forbidden.
Caution
Stop engine before refueling!
No open light !
No smoking !
Do not activate light switch!
Danger of explosion!

Maintenance of the boat:
You have to take only special, completely biological decomposable boat cleaning
agents. Don‘t use scouring powder because they scrap and bleach the surface.
The surface consists of an polyester resin deposition as pinhole chargers and
steam barrier as well as four shine layers as ultraviolet protection.
If it is very dirty, rub it with fresh water and a care agent. You can use wine
vinegar for removing lime patches (dried drops of hard water).
You can use customary upholstery cleaner for cleaning and maintenance
upholstery. Before you use them, please test if they go well with the upholstery
on an inconspicuous patch.
The underwater coating should be renewed periodically. This prevents the
growth of alga and shells. You should also clean the underwater part from time to
time with a high pressure cleaning apparatus.
PRACTICAL TIPS ON CARE AND MAINTENANCE :
Protective wood care oils – penetrate deep into the timber, and under the
influence of heat and moisture can adversely affect the adhesion of the caulking
material to the sides of the oint. As a result, the seal between the caulking
material and the sides of the oint may break down, allowing water to enter.
Paints and lacquers are decorative coatings which, when applied to a deck, dry
to form a continuous film over the caulking material as well. Some paints will not
dry properly where they come into contact with the caulking material, leaving the
surface tacky. In time most paints will flake away along the line of the oint. This
spoils the appearance of the deck and causes cracks to open up along the oints.
STAINLESS STEEL
The corrosion resistance of all fittings is based on their ability to constitute a thin
skin together with the air occident, which makes a positive electrical potential.
Specialists call it a CR-passive (CR is standing for chrome). But chrome is in the
galvanic contact series negative and a bit less valuable than iron. If the thin
protection skin is damaged the stainless CR becomes active and less good than
pure chrome. The corrosion can start.
Who is not disappointed about little brown spots on the fittings? They are caused
by flying rust or particles of iron, which fly in the air and in all harbors placed near
big towns. As soon as the flying rust sets down onto the protective coat of the
stainless steel, it destroys the CR passivity very aggressively and fast.
Stainless steel only stays good looking for a long time, if there’s taken good care
of it. Make it your habit to also clean the rail stanchions, pulpits and push pits and
all stainless fittings thoroughly too, if you are washing your boat with clear water.
Clear water will wash away the salt, rust and flying rust, the protective coat will
be "ventilated" and its function is guaranteed again.

Motor boat LATREX 335 SIA LATREX
12/14
If you have already brown spots, you can use most of all available metal
cleanings to take care of the stainless steel fittings or you take normal polish like
you use it for the hull.
Of course – all the best care can not help, if in the first place the fittings are not
made out of the right material or the stainless steel has not been treated correct.
Before you will buy the fitting, ask e.g. if the fitting has been polished electrical.
Repairs
Repairs at the hull (polyester full laminate and polyester sandwich laminate) can
be implemented by a reliable workshop considering the general rules for the
processing of polyester resin. The interior construction was designed in such a
way that a non-destructive elimination of defects can be realized. In regard to the
technical equipment you may contact a reliable workshop or your dealer, too.
Changes
Ask the dealer for information about what could be done by yourself and
especially what could not be done by yourself. You could endanger your safety
and lose your warranty.
WINTER STORAGE
The boat should be lifted with a crane which is equipped with a special traverse.
If you use a harness you should contact an expert.
During the preparation and search for a winter storage place, you will receive
help from your LATREX-boat representative.
TRANSPORT BY ROAD
With an appropriate towing vehicle the boat also can be transported with a
trailer. Your dealer can give you advice and assist you in choosing an
appropriate trailer. The national road traffic regulations are to be observed.
