I. Player Connectors
From left to right
A: 12V DC: PowerAdapter (included)
B: UART: RS232 interface port (optional)
C:A/V out: Stereo audio output only for VGA
D. VGA: VGA video output
E. HDMI: HDMI video and audio output (cable included)
F. LAN: LAN or Internet network
Storage:
•NP-100 has internal 3.6GB free space and supports external storage (USB and SD card).
•Maximum capacity is up to 32GB for both USB/SD storage devices
•Can insert both USB drive or SD card, but priorityis in the setup settings below
•Storage priority can be selected in the Setup. If set to “Auto”, player will search available storage
device from USB, SD then internal flash order.
Preparation before operation:
a) Use PC to format your SD card or USB drive to “FAT32” mode
b) Internal disk 3.6GB memory can be used as content storage. If external device is
preferred then Insert SD card into SD card slot or USB drive into USB slot.
c) Video connection to LCD TV
i. Connect HDMI cable to LCD TV (HDMI always output and default is 1080p).
ii. Connect VGA to LCD TV (press “Video Mode” key of remote control if no output)
d) Connect audio cable (Red and White) to TV’s audio port. (no need this if HDMI output)
e) Connect Ethernet cable to NP-100’s LAN port and the other end to router’s LAN port
f) Plug in 12V AC power adapter (do not use other voltage)
g) Turn on power and wait for server connection. Screen will appear like below.

Desktop Status:
1. Top Row:
a. Stop: shows current player’s status (Stop, Play, Downloading…)
b. Status: shows current playlist’s status (OK and error messages)
2. Bottom Row
a. Storage: shows selected storage device(Internal Disk/SD/USB) and its memory usage.
b. Date: shows local time and date
c. Device: shows Local IP address and Mac address for player
d. Network: shows server connection status and server name
e. ID and Version #:icat 10 digits ID and firmware revision #

Setup Main Menu: (Press “Main Menu” key of remote control)
Key Operation
Navigation keys: only 4 arrow keys and middle key (orange color) are used to navigate all settings
Middle key (ENTER): pop up selection menu or go to sub-menu or action on cursor highlight text

b. Storage Priority : Decide which device to use for playback/download
i. Auto : Start from USB => SD => Internal Disk order

c. JPEG Interval Time : picture duration time when playback series of JPG files
i. 5s : 5 seconds
ii. 10s : 10 seconds
iii. 15s : 15 seconds

d. ICAT ID : 10 digits created from icat-3 software when adding new player
: Enter 0-9 number keys on each field then move down to Return
: “Reset” will restore default ID 001-001-0068
e. Format Disk : Format current disk and all content files will be erased.
2. Network
a. Network : Enable - will connect to network after power up.(Default)
: Disable - will not connect to network after power up. Local Mode
b. Server Address : Setup IP address by entering 0-9 numbers or
: Domain name by loading a configuration file “config.xml”

c. Device Address : Setup either DHCP or Static IP
3. Date & Time
a. Year/Month/Day/Hour/Minute : use 0-9 number keys or cursor up/down to adjust and
: use cursor left/right to move to next field
b. Date Format : MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, or YYYY/MM/DD
c. Time Format : 12H or 24H
d. Time Zone : GMT +/- number for local time
e. Sync when powers up : Sync with time server to get current time at power up
f. Sync Now : Sync with time server, make sure server connection=ON

4. Screen Mode (must save & reboot after change mode, also icat3 must use right template)
a. Landscape : Landscape mode
b. Portrait : Portrait mode
5. Factory Default : Restore all settings to default values
6. Save & Reboot : All settings will be saved and reboot from power-up
7. Exit Main Menu : Return to main screen

To support all the new features (1080P HD video and resizable multi-zone) of NP-100, icat-3 has new user
interface and operation. Below is user guide how to use it.
Account: You will receive user ID and password from your reseller. Normally ID and password are same. You
can change your password under “Account” after you login.
System: Setup DST (Daylight Saving Time) schedule range, your local time zone and city code for weather.
Please visit www.weather.yahoo.com to check your local city code.

Step 1: Create Group
Click on , a new group edit window will appear below (left). Just enter group name and save.
Download Time is to setup when to download content for this group’s players. You can leave it blank. Player
will download new content any time as long as a new playlist/schedule is published. Or go to “Download” page
to setup your download schedule and select it here.
Step 2: Create Player
Click on , a new player edit window will appear above (right). Just enter player name then select its
group and save. City code is optional for local weather.
After saved, player name will appear on the player list with its 10 digit icat ID. This unique serial number is

associated with this player for future operation. Just enter these 10 digits on player’s setup under “Device” page.
Enter number key 1 6 1 3 4 4 2 6 7 7. And use arrow keys to move field.
Step 3: Upload media content
3 types of content can be uploaded to server and saved in the media library for future use. Supporting formats
are as follows;
HD Video 1080p: MPEG1、MPEG2、MPEG4、H.264、WMV
File extension: (mpg mpeg mp4 divx mkv mov)
SD Video 480p: MPEG2, MPEG4, AVI
Playback Format
Images: JPEG、BMP、PNG
Click on and following upload window will appear. Browse your image files from your local PC.
All images will be uploaded one by one till finished.
Media files can be displayed in “List” or “Grid” layout. On the top row, it’s filter function that allows you to
find or sort your data.

Video upload is similar to image upload.
RSS Upload
RSS (
Really Simple Syndication)
is
is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such
as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. NP-100 will display RSS ticker
overlapping on the screen . You can program several RSS URL for playlist to choose. Below are some RSS URL
samples.

Step 4: Create Template
-NP-100 supports multiple zones screen including 1 video zone and 3 image zones. Weather zone and
Time/date zone are OSD (On Screen Display) that can be overlapped on any video and image zone or
wallpaper. Template is the screen layout for defining each zone’s size and position. icat-3 provides
standard system template and custom template. Users can define their own template.
Click on to create a new custom template. It will pop up a name and screen mode window.

You first decide your screen mode either landscape (1920 x 1080) or portrait (1080 x 1920) then save. A blank
template will appear.
The Icons on top row are wallpaper, video zone, image1/2/3 zone, RSS/Text, Date/Time and Weather zone.
-Wallpaper is a jpeg file that will occupy entire screen. So you can leave it empty for black screen or
choose one jpeg only for your wallpaper picture.
-Video zone is one area for video file or jpeg file to playback. Minimum size is 640 x 480 and maximum
is 1920 x 1080.
-Image zone has 3 and only for jpeg file. Minimum size is 320 x 200 and maximum is 1920 x 1080.
Note: icat software will convert jpeg into yuv format when publishing.
-Weather zone’s maximum size is 512 x 248. It cab be overlapped on video or image zone.
-Date and Time zone’s maximum size is 512 x 128. It cab be overlapped on video or image zone.
Note: Video zone is required and rest zones can be optional for creating a template.
After all zones are resized and placed, you can save it for future use. Some examples below:

Step 5: Create Playlist
Playlist is a sequence of media files that are assigned to each zone. Click on to create a new playlist.
Define your name of the playlist, then choose template (System or User) then save. Each zone Icon are on the
top row. Just click each one then select your video or image file. Save is to save your current data. Publish is to
make this playlist available for player to download. You still need to use schedule in step 6 to complete your
playlist.

Step 6: Create Schedule
Schedule is to predefine a time range for selected playlists to playback. Player will playback according to the
schedule/playlist. Click on to create a new schedule file. After enter “schedule name” and add.
There are three things to enter here besides schedule name and description.
1). Add group is to choose which group and its players for this schedule.
2). Add playlist is to add pre-defined playlist
3) Define date range and time range and week days
After all these, save and publish this schedule for player.

Optional settings: Download Time
Download Time is to define a time range when you want player to download content in the background during
playback. Click on to create a new “Download Time”. After enter Name and set time range. If you
plan to add more, just click on “+” then start time and end time. Click on Save. (left picture)
Note: End time must be later than Start time.
Download time file can be selected in the Group edit or New Group creation (right picture).

Optional Settings: Folder and FTP
Folder is to let user create folder to manage media files. Click on to create a new “Folder”. Then
enter name and save. (left picture)
Folder name can be selected from pull-down menu on top row of media library or playlist. (right picture)

FTP is to let user create FTP server that can browse media files for playlist. Player will download FTP media
files from FTP server instead of icat-3 server. But those ftp files are just for video zone, not for image zone.
Click on to create a new “FTP” property.
Profile: FTP name
Server: FTP address
Port: FTP port
PASV: Passive Mode
Account: FTP user ID
Password: Password for user ID.
Folder name can be selected from pull-down menu on top row of media library or playlist. (right picture)
FTP files can be browsed and selected in the “Upload” of the Media Library.
1) go to FTP site pull-down menu to select your pre-defined FTP profile name.
2) click on “Connect”, ftp files will appear on right window
3) check files that you want to save into media library.
