1-4 are for halogen response type : 01 = Linear, 02 = Square, 03 = Inverse square, 04 = S-curve.
5-8 are for LED response type : 05 = Linear, 06 = Square, 07 = Inverse square, 08 = S-curve.

Setting the DMX address
TheDMXmodeenablestheuseofauniversalDMXcontroller.Eachxturerequiresa
“startaddress”from1-511.Axturerequiringoneormorechannelsforcontrolbeginstoreadthe
dataonthechannelindicatedbythestartaddress.Forexample,axturethatoccupiesoruses7
channelsofDMXandwasaddressedtostartonDMXchannel100,wouldreaddatafrom
channels:100,101,102,103,104,105and106.Chooseastartaddresssothatthechannelsused
donotoverlap.E.g.thenextunitinthechainstartsat107.
DMX-512:
•DMX(DigitalMultiplex)isauniversalprotocolusedasaformofcommunicationbetween
intelligentxturesandcontrollers.ADMXcontrollersendsDMXdatainstructionsformthe
controllertothexture.DMXdataissentasserialdatathattravelsfromxturetoxtureviathe
DATA“IN”andDATA“OUT”XLRterminalslocatedonallDMXxtures(mostcontrollersonlyhave
adata“out”terminal).
DMX Linking:
•DMXisalanguageallowingallmakesandmodelsofdifferentmanufacturestobelinkedto-
getherandoperatefromasinglecontroller,aslongasallxturesandthecontrollerareDMXcom-
pliant.ToensureproperDMXdatatransmission,whenusingseveralDMXxturestrytousethe
shortestcablepathpossible.TheorderinwhichxturesareconnectedinaDMXlinedoesnot
inuencetheDMXaddressing.Forexample;axtureassignedtoaDMXaddressof1maybe
placedanywhereinaDMXline,atthebeginning,attheend,oranywhereinthemiddle.Whena
xtureisassignedaDMXaddressof1,theDMXcontrollerknowstosendDATAassignedto
address1tothatunit,nomatterwhereitislocatedintheDMXchain.
DATA Cable (DMX cable) requirements (for DMX operation):
•TheLEDJAluParCompactSeriescanbecontrolledviaDMX-512protocol.TheDMXaddress
issetonthebackoftheunit.YourunitandyourDMXcontrollerrequireastandard3-pinXLR
connectorfordatainput/output(gure1).

Also remember that DMX cable must be daisy chained and cannot be split.

Notice:
•Besuretofollowgures2&3whenmakingyourowncables.Donotconnectthecable’sshield
conductortothegroundlugorallowtheshieldconductortocomeincontactwiththeXLR’souter
casing.Groundingtheshieldcouldcauseashortcircuitanderraticbehaviour.
Special Note: Line termination:
•Whenlongerrunsofcableareused,youmayneedtouseaterminatoronthelastunitto
avoiderraticbehaviour.
Using a cable terminator (part number CABL90) will decrease the possibilities of erratic
behaviour.
5-Pin XLR DMX Connectors:
•Somemanufacturesuse5-pinXLRconnectorsfordatatransmissioninplaceof3-pin.5-Pin
XLRxturesmaybeimplementedina3-pinXLRDMXline.Wheninsertingstandard5-pin
XLRconnectorsintoa3-pinlineacableadaptormustbeused.TheChartbelowdetailsthe
correctcableconversion.
Termination reduces signal transmission problems
and interferance. it is always advisable to connect a
DMX terminal, (resistance 120 Ohm 1/4 W) between
pin 2 (DMX-) and pin 3 (DMX+) of the last fixture.
