Lenovo ThinkSystem DM Series NVMe 2U24 SIR rail kit
installation instructions
This guide describes how to use SM17A56607 to install a DM NVMe 2U 2 -drive chassis in a four-post rack
for ship-in-rack enablement purpose.
Before you egin
Before you begin the installation, check the parts contained in SM17A56607.
SM17A56607: Ship-In-Rack Rail kit ASM (1 pcs), which contains the following in the package:

Procedure
Step 1. Take out the parts from SM17A56607, and then adjust and install the left rail (SM17A56611) on the
left rack posts.
Repeat for the right rail (SM17A56612).
Note:
This type of rail kit has a toolless design, so no screws need to be assembled for now.

Step 2. Place the back of the chassis on the rails, and then carefully slide the chassis all the way onto the
rails.

Step 3. Take out the parts from Rail Hardware Kit SM17A56613, align a 2 mm-thick washer (3 0-12808)
with the upper hole on the left or right chassis ear, and then fasten the ear with a flange screw (3 0-
12807) to fix the chassis to the rails.
Repeat for both left and right chassis ears.

Step . Press down the tabs and grasp the handles on both sides at the same time to remove the lower
module on the rear side of the DM NVMe 2U 2 -drive chassis as shown. Then, keep it in a safe
place.

Step 5. Use a flat head screw (3 0-12876) to fix the rear tie-down hole of the chassis to that of the rail.
Repeat for both left and right rear tie-down holes.

Step 6. Re-install the lower module on the rear side of the DM NVMe 2U 2 -drive chassis as shown.

The installation procedure is completed.
