1. Microphones Capture or record sound and voice.
2. Camera Capture still and moving images for taking photos, recording videos,
and video chatting.
3. Camera cover slider Move the slider to cover or uncover the camera lens.
Note: The camera cover helps you better protect your privacy.
4. Camera light If the light is on, the camera is in use.
5. Wireless antennas Send and receive radio aves for the built-in ireless LAN (local area
net ork) and Bluetooth module.
Notes:
• The antennas are not visible from the outside of the computer.
• If the location of the antennas is close to the user’s body (< 20 cm),
you can find the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values in the Setup
Guide that comes ith your computer.

1. Po er button Press the button to turn on the computer or put the computer into
sleep mode.
2. Po er light • Solid hite: The computer is turned on; battery charge percentage
21% - 100%
• Blinking fast: The computer is turned on; battery charge

• Blinking slo ly: The computer is in sleep mode.
• Off: The computer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
3. Numeric keypad To enable or disable the numeric keypad, press the Num Lock key.
4. Touchpad Perform finger touch and all the functions of a traditional mouse.
Note: The touchpad also supports multi-touch function.
5. Keyboard Enter characters and interact ith programs.
Note: The keyboard also includes hotkeys and function keys for
changing settings and performing tasks quickly.

1. Ventilation slots (outlet) Maintain the outgoing airflo to dissipate internal heat.
Attention: Do not block the ventilation slots. Other ise, the computer
might overheat.
2. Po er connector Connect to po er ith the included po er cord and ac po er
adapter.

an HDTV.
6. USB-C® connector Connect to USB storage or data devices. This USB-C port does not
support DisplayPort™ Alt Mode.

external devices.

Work with Windows
The follo ing table contains Windo s frequently used settings. You can learn the basics and start orking
ith Windo s right a ay.
To configure settings, type the corresponding key ords in the Windo s search box and select the best
match. Follo the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

For models ith a ireless LAN module, you can connect your computer to
a Wi-Fi® net ork. Click the net ork icon in the Windo s notification area,
and then select a net ork for connection.
Note: The ireless LAN module on your computer may support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disabled
according to local regulations.

Airplane mode Airplane mode is a convenient setting to turn all ireless communications of
your computer on and off. You may need to turn it on hen boarding an
airplane.

Night light mode Night light is a s itch in Windo s that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen sho s armer colors and the amount of emitted
blue light is reduced. Enabling night light reduces the chances of developing
eye fatigue or eye strain.

If night light mode is turned on, you can adjust the color temperature of the
screen.
Note: Selected Lenovo computers are lo blue light certified. These
computers are tested ith night light turned on and color temperature set to
the default value of 48.

Updates
Microsoft periodically releases feature and security updates to the Windo s
operating system. Updates that are applicable to your Windo s version are
do nloaded automatically hen your computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are do nloaded, you are prompted to restart the
computer to install these updates. You can also manually check if there are
available updates for the installed version of Windo s.
Attention: Only use Windo s Update to do nload and install updates.
Updates do nloaded from other sources may include security risks.

• Type Get Help or Tips in the Windo s search box and then press Enter. When the app opens, type the
problem description and select the matched result.
• Visit Microsoft support Web site: https://support.microsoft.com. Enter hat you are looking for in the
search box and get search results.
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager
They are both apps developed by Lenovo. Using either of them, you can:
• Vie product information and system status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and perform system update
Note: This feature is only available on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager, you can check for and
perform driver update.
Depending on the country or region in hich your computer is purchased, one of the apps may be pre-
installed on your computer. To open it, type its name in the Windo s Search box and select the matched
result. If neither of the apps is pre-installed, you may install one on your o n. Lenovo Vantage is available for
do nload free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: App features are subject to change ith updates and specific features may not be available on all
Lenovo products.

The Novo Button menu can be displayed before the operating system starts. From the menu, you can
choose to
• Open the BIOS/UEFI setup utility
• Open the boot device selection menu
• Open the Windo s startup options screen
Note: From the Windo s startup options screen, you can then choose to

Keyboard hotkeys
Some keys on the keyboard are printed ith icons. These keys are called hotkeys and can be pressed alone
or in combination ith the Fn key to open certain apps or change certain settings quickly. The functions of
the hotkeys are symbolized by the icons printed on them.
Hotkey F nction
Mute/Unmute sound.
Decrease/Increase system volume.
Mute/Unmute the microphone.
Increase/Decrease screen brightness.
S itch display devices.
Turn airplane mode on and off.
Open Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager, or an app launch bar.
Enable/Disable the touchpad.
Display thumbnails of all open apps.
Open the Windo s Calculator app.
Open the Windo s snipping tool.
Play or pause playback of media.
Stop playback of media.
Go the next media file in the playlist or folder.
Go to the previous media file in the playlist or folder.
Turn on/off or adjust the brightness of the keyboard backlight.
Note: Selected models include a RGB keyboard. For such a keyboard, this
hotkey s itches the color and effect of the keyboard backlight. Additional control
is available in Lenovo Vantage.
Hotkey mode
Some hotkeys share keys ith function keys (F1 to F12). The hotkey mode is a UEFI/BIOS setting that
changes ho hotkeys (or function keys) are used.

Note: Hotkeys that do not share keys ith function keys are not affected by the hotkey mode setting. They
should al ays be used ith the Fn key.
The FnLock switch
The FnLock is a s itch that reverses the default and hidden function of a hotkey. The follo ing table
provides an example of ho the FnLock s itch changes the default function of the F1 key.

Note: The F1 function is application-dependent. It may have no function if the active application does not
have a definition for the key.
The FnLock s itch shares the ESC key (in the upper left corner of the keyboard). To turn it on or off, press Fn
+ ESC.
N meric keypad
Some Lenovo computers includes a dedicated numeric keypad on the far right of the keyboard. The keypad
is used for entering numbers and operators quickly.
Press the N mLock key to enable or disable the numeric keypad.

Manage power
Use the information in this section to achieve the best balance bet een performance and po er efficiency.
Check the battery stat s
The battery status icon or is in the Windo s notification area. You can check the battery status, vie
the current po er plan, and access battery settings quickly.
Click the battery status icon to display the percentage of battery po er remaining and change the po er
mode. A arning message is displayed hen the battery is lo .
Charge the battery
When the remaining battery po er is lo , charge your battery by connecting your computer to ac po er.
The battery is fully charged in about t o to four hours. The actual charging time depends on the battery
capacity, the physical environment, and hether you are using the computer.
Battery charging is also affected by its temperature. The recommended temperature range for charging the
battery is bet een 10°C (50°F) and 35°C (95°F).
Note:
You can check the battery temperature in Lenovo Vantage.
To maximize the life of the battery, once the battery is fully charged, it must discharge to 94% or lo er
before it ill be allo ed to recharge again.
Set power b tton behavior
By default, pressing the po er button puts the computer to sleep mode. Ho ever, you can change the
po er button behavior in Windo s Control Panel.
Step 1. Type Control Panel in the Windo s search box and then press Enter. Open the control panel and
vie by large or small icons.
Step 2. Select the po er options and then click choose hat the po er button does.
A power plan
A po er plan is a collection of po er-saving settings made available by an operating system. With a po er
plan, you can set idle time-outs for different hard are components to enter a lo -po er state. The default
po er plan and some of its idle time-out settings are listed belo for computer models pre-installed ith
Windo s.
The listed settings are active hen the computer is connected to an electrical outlet. If your computer include
a built-in battery pack, a different collection of time-out settings is set to take effect hen the computer is
operating on battery po er.
• Default po er plan: Balanced
• Turn off the display: after 10 minutes
• Put the computer to sleep: after 10 minutes

Note: To ake the computer from the sleep state, press the po er button or any key on the keyboard.
Change or c stomize a power plan
This operation is applicable to computers ith pre-installed Windo s.
Step 1. Type po er plan in the Windo s search box and then press Enter.
Step 2. Customize a po er plan of your preference.
Set performance mode
Your computer can ork in different performance modes. The performance and po er consumption of the
computer vary in different performance modes.
Change settings in UEFI/BIOS set p tility
This section introduces hat is UEFI/BIOS and the operations you can perform in its setup utility.
What is UEFI/BIOS set p tility
UEFI/BIOS is the first program that runs hen a computer starts. UEFI/BIOS initializes hard are components
and loads the operating system and other programs. Your computer may include a setup program (setup
utility) ith hich you can change certain UEFI/BIOS settings.
Open the UEFI/BIOS set p tility
Step 1. Turn on or restart the computer.
Step 2. Press F2 repeatedly.
Change the start p seq ence
You may need to change the startup sequence to allo the computer to start from another device or a
net ork location.
Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility.
Step 2. Navigate to the Boot menu.
Step 3. Follo on-screen instructions to change the order of devices under Boot Priority Order.
Note: You can also change startup sequence temporarily ithout opening the setup utility. To do so, start
the computer. When the Lenovo logo appears, press F12 repeatedly.
Change hotkey mode
Step 1. Open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility.
Step 2. Select Config ration ➙ Hotkey Mode and press Enter.
Step 3. Change the setting to Disabled or Enabled.
Step 4. Select Exit ➙ Exit Saving Changes.
Set passwords in UEFI/BIOS set p tility
This section introduces the types of pass ords that you can set in the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firm are
Interface) or BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) setup utility.
