Chapter 1. Meet your computer

1. Time of flight (ToF) sensor* Detect human resence in front of the com uter for facilitating zero
touch and other convenient features.
2. Micro hones Ca ture or record sound and voice.
3. Infrared LED* Emit infrared light for face authentication.
4. Camera cover Cover or uncover the camera lens.
Note: The camera cover hel s you better rotect your rivacy.

• The antennas are not visible from the outside of the com uter.

1, 4. Multi- ur ose USB Ty e-C® connector This multi- ur ose connector can be used to connect dis lay devices
and devices that utilize the USB transfer technology. It also su orts
USB Power Delivery.
Notes:
• When connecting dis lay devices, you need to use a ro riate
cables and ada ters (if needed) according to the connection
ca abilities of the dis lay device.
• The USB Ty e-C connector (1) with a lug icon next to it also
functions as the PC’s ower in ut connector.
2. Charging light Indicate whether the com uter is connected to ac ower.
• Solid white: connected to ac ower; battery ca acity 91%–100%
• Solid amber: connected to ac ower; battery ca acity 0%–90%
• Off: not connected to ac ower
3. HDMI™ connector Connect to a com atible digital audio device or video monitor, such
as an HDTV.
5. Combo audio jack Connect head hones or headsets with a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch), 4- ole
lug.
Note: This jack does not su ort standalone external micro hones. If
you use headsets, choose one with a single lug.

Press the Novo button to o en the Novo Button menu. From the
menu, you can choose to o en the UEFI/BIOS setu utility, the Boot

3. SD card slot Insert an SD card or a MultiMediaCard (MMC) into the slot for data
transfer or storage.
4. USB (3.2 Gen 1) Ty e-A connector Connect a USB-com atible device, such as a USB keyboard, a USB
mouse, a USB storage device, or a USB rinter.

(always-on)
The always-on connector can charge external devices when the
com uter is turned off, in slee or hibernation mode. The always-on
function can be turned on or off in the UEFI/BIOS setu utility.
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is re-installed on your com uter, you can
also set always-on function from within that software.

Chapter 2. Get started with your computer
Work with Windows
The following table contains Windows frequently used settings. You can learn the basics and start working
with Windows right away.
To configure settings, ty e the corres onding keywords in the Windows search box and select the best
match. Follow the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

Connect to Wi-Fi
networks
For models with a wireless LAN module, you can connect your com uter to
a Wi-Fi network. Click the network icon in the Windows notification area,
and then select a network for connection.
Note: The wireless LAN module on your com uter may su ort different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disabled
according to local regulations.
Wi-Fi
Air lane mode Air lane mode is a convenient setting to turn all wireless communications of
your com uter on and off. You may need to turn it on when boarding an
air lane.

Night light mode Night light is a switch in Windows that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen shows warmer colors and the amount of emitted
blue light is reduced. Enabling night light reduces the chances of develo ing
eye fatigue or eye strain.

If night light mode is turned on, you can adjust the color tem erature of the
screen.
Note: Selected Lenovo com uters are low blue light certified using night
light mode and color tem erature settings available in the re-installed
o erating system. These com uters are tested with night light turned on
and color tem erature set to 48 or greater.

Windows
U dates
Microsoft eriodically releases feature and security u dates to the Windows
o erating system. U dates that are a licable to your Windows version are
downloaded automatically when your com uter is connected to the
Internet. When u dates are downloaded, you are rom ted to restart the
com uter to install these u dates. You can also manually check if there are
available u dates for the installed version of Windows.
Attention: Only use Windows U date to download and install u dates.
U dates downloaded from other sources may include security risks.

Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager and Lenovo Smart Engine
They are all a s develo ed by Lenovo. Using any of them, you can:
• View roduct information and system status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and erform system u date
Note: This feature is only available on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager or Lenovo Smart Engine,
you can check for and erform driver u date.
De ending on the country or region in which your com uter is urchased, one of the a s may be re-
installed on your com uter. To o en it, ty e its name in the Windows Search box and select the matched
result. If neither of the a s is re-installed, you may install one on your own. Lenovo Vantage is available for
download free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: A features are subject to change with u dates and s ecific features may not be available on all
Lenovo roducts.
The Novo Button menu
The Novo Button menu can be dis layed before the o erating system starts. From the menu, you can
choose to
• O en the BIOS/UEFI setu utility
• O en the boot device selection menu
• O en the Windows startu o tions screen

Open the Novo Button menu
For Lenovo com uters with a Novo button, you can ress the button to o en the Novo Button menu.
Ste 1. Turn off the com uter.
Ste 2. O en the LCD screen and ress the Novo button.
Note: Alternatively, turn off the com uter. Press Fn and the ower button to o en the Novo Button menu.
Interact with your computer
Hotkeys
Look at the to row of the keyboard of your Lenovo com uter and you’ll find keys with rinted icons. These
keys are called hotkeys and they rovide shortcuts to functions that you’ll use frequently. The function that
each hotkey rovides is denoted by the icon rinted on the key.
Hotkeys share keys with function keys (F1–F12) and other keys. De ending on the FnLock setting, you use
hotkey functions by ressing the key directly or in combination with the Fn key.
Note: The FnLock switch does not a ly to hotkeys not found in the first row of the keyboard. To use these
hotkeys, always hold down the Fn key while ressing the key.

The FnLock switch
The FnLock is an electronic switch that affects how you use hotkey functions. To turn it on and off, ress Fn
+ Esc.
Note: The Esc key is in the u er left corner of the keyboard. It has an LED that indicates the status of the
FnLock switch.

A Lenovo keyboard usually contains hotkeys in the to row. These hotkeys share keys with the function keys
(F1–F12) and other keys. For these dual-function keys, the icons or characters denoting the rimary functions
are rinted on to of the icons and characters denoting the secondary functions.

Numeric keypad (for selected models)
Some Lenovo com uters includes a dedicated numeric key ad on the far right of the keyboard. The key ad
is used for entering numbers and o erators quickly.
Press the NumLock key to enable or disable the numeric key ad.
Touch operations supported y Windows (for selected models)
For com uters with a touch-enabled screen, you can touch the screen directly with your fingers and interact
with your com uter in a more natural way. The following table lists frequently used touch o erations that are
su orted by the Windows o erating system.
