our privac .
3. Camera
Take pictures or record videos b clicking Camera from the app Launcher. The
indicator next to the camera is on when the camera is in use.
If ou use other apps that support photographing, video chatting, and video
conference, the camera starts automaticall when ou enable the camera-
required feature from the app.
4. Multi-touch screen Enable ou to use our Chromebook with simple touch gestures. See “Use the

• Charge our Chromebook.
• Charge USB-C compatible devices with the output voltage and current of 5 V
and 3 A.
• Transfer data at USB 3.2 speed, up to 10 Gbps.
• Connect to an external displa :
– USB-C to VGA: 1920 × 1080 pixels, 60 Hz
– USB-C to DP: 3840 × 2160 pixels, 60 Hz
• Connect to USB-C accessories to expand Chromebook functionalit . To
purchase USB-C accessories, go to https://www.lenovo.com/accessories.
Note: When the batter power is below 10%, the connected USB-C accessories
might not work correctl .
2. USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectors Connect to USB-compatible devices, such as a USB ke board, USB mouse, USB
storage device, or USB printer.
3. Audio connector
• Connect headphones with a 3.5-mm (0.14-inch) and 4-pole plug to listen to the
sound from the Chromebook.
• Connect a headset with a 3.5-mm (0.14-inch) and 4-pole plug to listen to the
sound from the Chromebook or talk with others.
Note: The audio connector does not support standalone external microphones.
4. microSD card slot Insert a microSD card for data access or storage.

When ou open the Chromebook displa , the Chromebook automaticall starts. If
it does not work, press the power button. The power button also can be used to
put our Chromebook to sleep mode or wake up the Chromebook.

4. HDMI™ connector Connect to a compatible digital audio device or video monitor, such as an HDTV.

Charge your Chromebook
CAUTION:
All plugs must be firmly and securely inserted into receptacles.
Note: To maximize the life of the batter , once the batter is full charged, it must discharge to 94% or lower
before it will be allowed to recharge again.

Lock your Chromebook
Lock our Chromebook to a desk, table, or other fixtures through a compatible securit cable lock.
Note: You are responsible for evaluating, selecting, and implementing the locking device and securit
feature. Lenovo makes no comments, judgments, or warranties about the function, qualit , or performance
of the locking device and securit feature. Cable locks for our product are available from Lenovo at https://
smartfind.lenovo.com.
Use the fingerprint reader (for selected models)
If our Chromebook comes with a fingerprint reader, ou can use the fingerprint reader to enroll our
fingerprints. After enrollment, ou can tap our finger on the fingerprint reader to log in to Chromebook.
Enroll your fingerprints
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra .
2. Select People ➙ Security and sign-in.
3. Enter our password.
4. Click Set up and then click Add Fingerprint.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the enrollment.
6. Click the lock icon in the s stem tra .

Log in with your fingerprint
aintain the fingerprint reader
To ensure that the fingerprint reader works correctl , do not:
• Scratch the surface of the reader with an thing hard.
• Use or touch the reader with a wet, dirt , wrinkled, or injured finger.
Navigate your user interface
1. Search box and the app
Launcher
• T pe the name of our device, app, or Web page in the search box.
• Click an app shown in the app Launcher to open the app quickl .
2. Launcher button Open the search box and the app Launcher.
3. Shelf Pin our frequentl used apps or Web pages to the shelf for eas access.
4. System tray Manage network connections, updates, and settings. B default, network
connection status, batter status, and the time are displa ed.

Connect to Wi-Fi networks
1. Click the network icon in the s stem tra . A list of available wireless networks is displa ed.
2. Select a network available for connection. Provide required information, if needed.
Set up a Bluetooth connection
You can connect all t pes of Bluetooth-enabled devices to our Chromebook, such as a ke board, a mouse,
a smartphone, or speakers. To ensure successful connection, place the devices at most 10 meters (33 feet)
from our Chromebook.
1. Click the Bluetooth icon in the s stem tra . A list of available Bluetooth devices is displa ed.
2. Select a Bluetooth device, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Change the display language
When starting our Chromebook for the first time, ou are prompted to select the displa language. This
setting can be changed if ou need to use a different language.
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Advanced ➙ Languages and input.
2. In the Languages section, click next to the language that ou want to use, and then click ove to the
top.
Notes:
• If the language ou want to use is not shown in the list, click Add languages.
• You need to sign out and then sign in for the changes to take effect.
• Each signed-in user can set their own displa language.
Change input methods
You might need to add an input method to t pe text in a particular language and switch between input
methods.
Add an input method
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Advanced ➙ Languages and input.
2. In the Input method section, click anage input methods, and then select input methods as ou prefer.
Switch between input methods
You can press Ctrl + Space to switch to our previous input method, and press Ctrl + Shift + Space to switch
between available input methods, or ou can switch between input methods b doing the following:
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Advanced ➙ Languages and input.
2. In the Input method section, click the name of the input method to enable it.
Use multimedia
Use our Chromebook with the built-in components (camera, speakers, and audio features) or connected
external devices (an external projector, monitor, and HDTV).
Use audio
To enhance our audio experience, connect speakers, headphones, or a headset with a 3.5-mm (0.14-inch),
4-pole plug to the audio connector.

To pla a local audio or video file:
1. Click the Launcher button, and then click to displa the full app Launcher.
2. Click Files.
3. Choose a local audio or video file, and then open it in the media pla er.
To adjust the speaker volume, click the s stem tra , and then adjust the volume bar.
Use the camera
You can use the built-in camera to take photos or record videos. The indicator next to the camera turns on
when the camera is in use.
To take photos or record videos:
1. Click the Launcher button, and then click to displa the full app Launcher.
2. Click Camera.
3. To take photos, click the camera icon. If ou want to record videos, click Video to switch to the video
mode.
If ou use other programs that provide features such as photographing, video capturing, and video
conference, the camera starts automaticall when ou enable the camera-required feature.
Connect to an external display
Connect our Chromebook to a projector or a monitor to give presentations or expand our workspace.
To connect to an external displa :
1. Connect the external displa to an appropriate video connector on our Chromebook.
2. Connect the external displa to an electrical outlet.
3. Turn on the external displa .

The following table lists the supported maximum resolution of the external displa .

To change displa settings:
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Device ➙ Displays.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the displa settings as ou prefer.
Set the power plan
For ENERGY STAR® compliant Chromebooks, the following power plan takes effect when our
Chromebooks have been idle for a specified duration:

• Turn off the displa : After seven minutes
• Put the Chromebook into sleep: After 30 minutes
To reset the power plan to achieve the best balance between performance and power saving:
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Device ➙ Power.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the settings as ou prefer.
Shut down your Chromebook
When ou finish working with our Chromebook, shut it down to save power.
• Click in the s stem tra .
• Press the power button.
Interact with your Chromebook
This section introduces various wa s to interact with our Chromebook.
Use the keyboard shortcuts

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the settings as ou prefer.
Use the touchpad
The entire touchpad surface is sensitive to finger touch and movement. You can use the touchpad to perform
all the pointing, clicking, and scrolling functions of a traditional mouse.
Use the touch gestures
Tap
Tap an where on the touchpad with one finger to select or open an
item.
Two-finger tap
Tap an where on the touchpad with two fingers to displa a shortcut
menu.
Two-finger scroll
Put two fingers on the touchpad and move them in the vertical or
horizontal direction. This action enables ou to scroll through the
document, Web site, or apps.
Two-finger zoom out
Put two fingers on the touchpad and move them closer together to
zoom out.
Two-finger zoom in
Put two fingers on the touchpad and move them farther apart to zoom
in.

Swipe three fingers down
Put three fingers on the touchpad and move them down to open the
task view.
Swipe three fingers up
Put three fingers on the touchpad and move them up to show the
current window.
Notes:
• When using two or more fingers, ensure that ou position our fingers slightl apart.
• Some gestures are onl available when ou are using certain apps.
• If the touchpad surface is stained with oil, turn off the Chromebook first. Then, gentl wipe the touchpad
surface with a soft and lint-free cloth moistened with lukewarm water or computer cleaner.
To change the settings:
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Device ➙ ouse and touchpad.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the settings as ou prefer.
If Enable tap-to-click is turned on, ou can tap or press the touchpad. Otherwise, ou can onl press the
touchpad to achieve the clicking function of a traditional mouse.
Use the TrackPoint pointing device
The TrackPoint pointing device enables ou to perform all the functions of a traditional mouse, such as
pointing, clicking, and scrolling.

1. Pointing stick
Use our index finger or middle finger to appl pressure to the pointing-stick nonslip cap in an direction
parallel to the ke board. The pointer on the screen moves accordingl but the pointing stick itself does not
move. The higher the pressure applied, the faster the pointer moves.
2. Left-click button
Press to select or open an item.
3. Right-click button
Press to displa a shortcut menu.
4. iddle button
Press and hold the dotted middle button while appl ing pressure to the pointing stick in the vertical or
horizontal direction. Then, ou can scroll through the document, Web site, or apps.
To change the settings:
1. Click the setting icon in the s stem tra , and then click Device ➙ ouse and touchpad.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the settings as ou prefer.

Note: Ensure that the new cap has grooves a.
Use the multi-touch screen
Your Chromebook displa supports the multi-touch function, ou can navigate the screen with simple touch
gestures.
Note: Some gestures might not be available depending on the app ou use.
