Attention:
• Do not open the display panel beyond 180 degrees. When closing the display panel, be
careful not to leave pens or any other objects between the display panel and the keyboard.
Otherwise, the display panel may be damaged.

Integrated
camera
The integrated camera can be used for video conferencing.
Built-in
microphone
Capture sound for video conferencing, voice narration, or
audio recording.
Computer display The LCD display with LED backlight provides brilliant
visual output.
Wireless LAN
antennas
The wireless antennas are connected with the built-in
wireless adapter to send and receive wireless radio signals.
Ventilation slots Dissipate internal heat.
Power button Press this buon to turn on the computer.
When Windows is running, press the Power buon to put
the computer into sleep mode.
Numeric keypad For details, see “Numeric keypad (Lenovo V145‐15AST)” on
page 15.
Touch pad The touch pad functions as a conventional mouse.
One piece multi-touch ClickPad: To move the pointer on
the screen, slide your ngertip over the pad in the direction
in which you want the pointer to move.
Left-click area: Clicking in this area corresponds to the
functions of clicking the left buon on a conventional mouse.
Right-click area: Clicking in this area corresponds to the
functions of clicking the right buon on a conventional
mouse.
Note: You can enable/disable the touch pad by pressing F6 ( ).

ac power adapter
connector
Connects to the ac power adapter.
RJ-45 connector Connects the computer to an Ethernet network.
Note: For details, see “Connecting network cables” on page 13.
HDMI connector Connects to devices with HDMI input such as a TV or an
external display.
USB 3.0
connectors
Connect to USB devices.
Note: For details, see “Connecting USB device” on page 18.
Combo audio
connector
Connects to headsets.
Notes:
• The combo audio connector does not support conventional microphones.
• The recording function might not be supported if third‐party headphones or headsets are
connected, due to dierent industry standards.
Novo button When the computer is o, press this buon to start the
recovery system or the BIOS setup utility, or to enter the
boot menu.

Memory card slot Accepts memory cards (not supplied).

Kensington mini
security slot
For aaching a Kensington MiniSaver™ Mobile (or
compatible) lock.
Note: Lock is not supplied. When purchasing a lock, choose one that utilizes the Cleat™
locking mechanism and verify its compatibility with the slot before purchase. A lock
utilizing the T‐Bar™ locking mechanism is not compatible with the Kensington mini
security slot.

Ventilation slots Dissipate internal heat.
Note: Make sure that none of the ventilation slots are blocked, or else overheating of the

Status indicators
This section helps you locate and identify the various status indicators on
your computer.

Camera status
indicator
When this indicator is on, the camera is in use.

Battery/Charging
status indicator

Indicator status Meaning
Disconnected
O The computer is in sleep mode or turned
o; The baery has more than 20% charge.
Solid amber The baery has between 5% and 20%
charge.
Fast blinking amber The baery has between 1% and 5% charge.
Connected
Slow blinking amber The baery is being charged. When baery
charge reaches 20%, the blinking color
changes to white.
Slow blinking white The baery has between 20% and 80%
charge and is still charging. When the
baery reaches 80% charge the light will
stop blinking.
Solid white The baery has more than 80% charge,
charging will continue until the baery is
fully charged.
Power status

When this indicator is on, you can type uppercase leers

Microsoft provides a comprehensive set of information about Windows.
• The preinstalled Tips app provides new features and tips for Windows.
You can start the Tips app by typing “Tips” in the search box of your
Windows desktop and selecting the matching results.
• The preinstalled Get Help app provides support and assistance for using
Windows. You can start the Get Help app by typing “Get Help” in the
search box of your Windows desktop and selecting the matching result.
You must be connected to the Internet to use the Get Help app.
• The Microsoft support Web site hps://support.microsoft.com/ provides
comprehensive helpful information about Windows.

Seings lets you perform basic tasks. You can also search for more seings
using the seings search box.

Battery status icon
You can move your pointer to this icon to check the baery status. The
baery status icon displays the percentage of baery power remaining and
how long you can use your computer before you must charge the baery.
Wireless status icon
This icon shows the status of your computer’s wireless connection.
• Your computer is not connected to any wireless network.
• Your computer is connected to a wireless network.
• Airplane mode is on.
Action center
Here you can nd important notications from Windows and your apps.
You can also change common seings quickly.

Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it
down
When you have nished working with your computer, you can put it to
sleep or shut it down.
Putting your computer to sleep
When the computer is in sleep mode, you can quickly wake it to resume use,
bypassing the startup process.
To put the computer to sleep, do one of the following:
• Close the display lid.
• Press and hold the power buon for 1 second.
• Move the cursor to the lower‐left corner, and then select the Start buon.
Select Power →Sleep.
Note: Put your computer to sleep before you move it. Moving your computer while the hard
disk drive is spinning can damage the hard disk, causing loss of data.
To wake up the computer, do one of the following:
• Press any key on the keyboard.
• Press the power buon.
Shutting down the computer
If you are not going to use your computer for a long time, shut it down.
To shut down your computer, do one of the following:
• Move the cursor to the lower‐left corner, and then select the Start buon.
Select Power →Shut down.
• Right‐click the Start buon in the lower‐left corner and select Shut down
or sign out →Shut down.

Connecting to the Internet
You can connect your computer to the Internet either by network cables or
Wi‐Fi network.
Connecting network cables
To insert a network cable, do the following:
Hold one connector of the network cable to press the RJ‐45 cover down
gently .
Insert the connector into the RJ‐45 connector .

Software conguration
Consult your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for details on how to congure
your computer.

Connecting to a Wi-Fi network
Your computer comes with a built‐in Wi‐Fi network card to help you
establish wireless connections and monitor connection status. Wireless
connection is the transfer of data using radio waves instead of cables.
Click the wireless icon in the notication area.
Note: If the wireless icon is not displayed, airplane mode may be turned on.
Select the network name you want to connect to and click Connect.
Enter the security key when prompted and click Next.
Turning on/off airplane mode
• Press F7 on the keyboard.
• Click Start →Seings →Network & Internet →Airplane mode. Slide
the toggle for Airplane mode to turn it on or o.
• In action center, click the Airplane mode buon to turn it on or o.
