Chapter 1. Meet your computer
Front
1. Ventilation slots Dissipate internal heat.
Note: Do not block the ventilation slots. Otherwise, the computer
might overheat.
2. Infrared LED Emit infrared light for face authentication.
3. Front camera • Capture still and moving images for taking photos, recording
videos, and video chatting.
• Capture our face images for face authentication.
Note: Use Windows Hello to enroll our face for face
authentication.
4. Camera light If the light is on, the camera is in use.
5. Wi-Fi antennas Send and receive radio waves for the built-in wireless LAN (local area
network) and Bluetooth module.
Note: The antennas are not visible from the outside of the computer.
6. Wireless WAN antennas * Send and receive radio waves for the built-in wireless WAN (wide area
network) module.

Right
1. USB-C connector (alwa s-on) The alwa s-on connector can charge external devices when the
computer is turned off, in sleep or hibernation mode. The alwa s-on
function can be turned on or off in the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is pre-installed on our computer, ou can
also set alwa s-on function from within that software.
2. Volume buttons Press the button to increase or decrease the s stem volume.
3. Power button (with a light) • Press the button to turn on the computer or put the computer into
sleep mode.
• The power button has an integrated light to show the power status.
– On: The computer is turned on.
– Off: The computer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
– Blinking: The computer is in sleep mode.

1. Pogo pin with guide pin The pogo pin with guide pin enables ou to attach the ke board to
our computer magneticall .
2. Bluetooth folio ke board switch Push the switch to a different position to enable the following
functions.
• Off position: Ke board is turned off.
• Middle position: Ke board is turned on and will connect with the
latest connected device.
• Bluetooth icon position: Press and hold the Bluetooth folio
ke board switch to the Bluetooth icon position for three seconds.
The ke board will enable Bluetooth pairing.
Note: The spring switch will move back to the middle position
automaticall after releasing the switch.
3. Bluetooth light • Solid amber: Ke board is charging through the pogo pin.
• Continuousl blinking white (up to 1 min): Pairing
• Solid white (for three seconds) and then off: Paired
• White: Ke board is working and connected with pogo pin.
• Blinking amber: Batter power is low.
• Off:
– Ke board is full charged and connected with pogo pin.
– The ke board batter has no power.
4. Ke board Enter characters and interact with programs.

Depending on man factors such as the processing capabilit of the host and peripheral devices, file
attributes, and other factors related to s stem configuration and operating environments, the actual transfer
rate using the various USB connectors on this device will var and will be slower than the data rate listed
below for each corresponding device.

Chapter 2. Get started with your computer
Get started with Windows 10
Learn the basics of Windows 10 and start working with it right awa . For more information about Windows
10, see the Windows help information.
Windows account
You must create at least one account to use the Windows operating s stem. It can be either a local account
or a Microsoft account.
Local accounts
A local account is created on a particular Windows-enabled device and it can onl be used on that device. It
is recommended that ou set a password for each local account to prevent unauthorized access to the
device.
Microsoft accounts
A Microsoft account is a user account that ou use to sign in to Microsoft software and services. If ou use
Microsoft services like OneDrive, Outlook.com, Xbox Live, Office 365, and Sk pe, ou might alread have
one. If ou don't have it, ou can create one for free.
There are two main benefits of using a Microsoft account:
• Sign in onl once. If ou use a Microsoft account to sign in to Windows 10, ou don’t need to sign in again
to use OneDrive, Sk pe, Outlook.com, and other Microsoft services.
• Settings can be s nced. If ou use our Microsoft account to sign in to multiple Windows-enabled
devices, certain Windows settings can be s nced among the devices.
Switch etween a local and a Microsoft account
If ou are using a local account to sign in to Windows 10, ou can switch to use a Microsoft account instead.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Accounts.
Step 2. Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
Step 3. If ou alread have a Microsoft account, enter the account name and password to sign in.
Otherwise, select Create one to create a new Microsoft account.
Note: The device must have Internet access the first time ou use a Microsoft account on that
device.
If ou want to switch back to use a local account, open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Accounts ➙
Sign in with a local account instead.
Add additional user accounts
Your user account must be of the “Administrator” t pe to add additional user accounts to Windows.
Add additional user accounts if ou need to share our computer with famil members or other users.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Accounts ➙ Family & other users.
Step 2. Select Add someone else to this PC.

Note: To add famil members, ou need to sign in with a Microsoft account.
Step 3. Set the user name and password for the user account.
Set up face recognition
If our computer includes a Windows Hello-compatible infrared camera, ou can set up face recognition to
sign in with our face.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Accounts ➙ Sign-in options.
Note: If ou are using a local account, the account must be password protected. Otherwise, ou
cannot set face recognition.
Step 2. Under Manage how you sign in to your device, select Windows Hello Face ➙ Set up ➙ Get
started.
Step 3. Follow on-screen instructions to complete face recognition. Create a PIN when prompted, in case
face recognition does not work at Windows sign-in.
Windows desktop
1. Account Change account settings, lock the computer, or sign out of the
current account.
2. Documents Open the Documents folder, a default folder to save our received
files.
3. Pictures Open the Pictures folder, a default folder to save our received
pictures.
4. Settings Open Settings.
5. Power Shut down, restart, or put the computer into sleep mode.
6. Start utton Open the Start menu.
7. Windows Search Enter what ou are looking for in the search box and get search
results from our computer and the Web.

8. Task View Displa all opened apps and switch between them.
9. Windows notification area Displa notifications and status of some features.
10. Battery status icon Displa power status and change batter or power settings.
11. Network icon Connect to an available wireless network and displa the network
status.
12. Action center Displa the latest notifications from apps and provide quick access to
some features.
Open the Start menu
• Click the Start button.
• Press the Windows logo ke on the ke board.
Open Control Panel
• Open the Start menu and select Windows System ➙ Control Panel.
• Use Windows Search.
Open an app
• Open the Start menu and select the app ou want to open.
• Use Windows Search.
Windows Updates (for selected models)
Microsoft periodicall releases feature and securit updates to the Windows operating s stem. Updates that
are applicable to our version of Windows are downloaded automaticall when our computer is connected
to the Internet. When updates are downloaded, ou are prompted to restart the computer to install these
updates.
Manually check for updates
Updates to Windows are downloaded automaticall . However, ou can also manuall check if there are
available updates for the installed version of Windows.
Attention: Onl download and install updates using Windows Update. Updates downloaded from other
sources ma include securit risks.
Step 1. Select Start ➙ Settings ➙ Update & Security.
Step 2. Click Check for updates.
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager
The are both apps developed b Lenovo. Using either of them, ou can:
• View product information and s stem status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and perform s stem update
Note: This feature is onl available on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager, ou can check for and
perform driver update.

Depending on the countr or region in which our computer is purchased, one of the apps ma be pre-
installed on our computer. To open it, t pe its name in the Windows Search box and select the matched
result. If neither of the apps is pre-installed, ou ma install one on our own. Lenovo Vantage is available for
download free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: App features are subject to change with updates and specific features ma not be available on all
Lenovo products.
Connect to wireless networks
Connect our computer to the Internet or other wireless networks so that ou can browse on our computer
and share information.
Connect to Wi-Fi networks
If our computer includes a wireless LAN module, ou can connect our computer to Wi-Fi® networks. The
wireless LAN module on our computer ma support different standards. For some countries or regions, use
of 802.11ax ma be disabled according to local regulations.
Step 1. Click the network icon in the Windows notification area. A list of nearb networks is displa ed.
Note: If no network is displa ed, check to ensure that the airplane mode is not turned on.
Step 2. Select a network and click Connect. Provide securit ke if prompted.
Note: The network ke is usuall managed b the network administrator.
Forget a Wi-Fi network
Windows saves a list of Wi-Fi networks ou have connected to, along with their passwords and other
settings. B doing this, our computer is automaticall connected when it is in the range of a previousl
connected network. However, if the network password has been changed, ou need to forget the network in
order to enter a new password.
Step 1. Select Start ➙ Settings ➙ Network & Internet ➙ Wi-Fi.
Step 2. Click Manage known networks.
Step 3. Click the network name and click Forget.
Turn airplane mode on and off
Airplane mode is a convenient setting to turn all wireless communications of our computer on and off. You
ma need to turn it on when boarding an airplane.
Step 1. Click the action center icon in the Windows notification area.
Step 2. Click the Airplane mode icon to turn it on or off.
Note: Click Expand if ou cannot find the airplane mode icon.
Use a nano SIM card (for LTE/5G models)
If our computer has a nano SIM card slot on the left side of the computer, ou can insert a nano SIM card
into the nano SIM card slot to establish wireless WAN connections.
Install a nano SIM card
Step 1. Use an ejection tool to eject the card tra , and then slide the tra out of the computer.

Step 2. Install a new nano SIM card into the tra and insert the tra into the card slot. Ensure that the new
nano SIM card is installed in the correct orientation.
Use a microSD card (for Wi-Fi models)
Your computer has a microSD card slot on the left side of the computer. You can insert a microSD card into
the microSD card slot to expand the computer local storage capacit .
Attention:
• Before handling the microSD card, touch a metal table or a grounded metal object. Otherwise the card
might get damaged b the static electricit from our bod .
• During data transfer, do not put our computer into sleep mode; otherwise, our data could get damaged.
Install a microSD card
Step 1. Use an ejection tool to eject the card tra , and then slide the tra out of the computer.
Step 2. Install a new microSD card into the tra and insert the tra into the card slot. Ensure that the new
microSD card is installed in correct orientation.

Connect a Bluetooth device
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technolog . Use Bluetooth to establish a wireless
connection between our computer and another Bluetooth-enabled device within a distance of about 10 m
(32.8 ft).
To connect a Bluetooth device using swift pair
Step 1. Turn on the Bluetooth device that supports swift pair and make it discoverable. For more
information, see the document that comes with the Bluetooth device.
Step 2. Select Connect when a swift pair notification appears that a new Bluetooth device was found.
To connect a Bluetooth device using conventional pair
If ou do not receive the swift pair notification, ou can also do as the follows to pair a Bluetooth device.
Step 1. Turn on the Bluetooth device and make it discoverable.
Step 2. Select ➙ ➙ Devices ➙ Bluetooth and other devices ➙ Add Bluetooth or other devices ➙
Bluetooth. A list of available Bluetooth devices is displa ed.
Step 3. Select the target Bluetooth device and start pairing.

Align the connector of the ke board with the computer and then attach the computer in the direction shown
b the arrow.
Note: When the computer and Bluetooth folio ke board are ph sicall connected there is no need for
Bluetooth pairing. When separated, users need to use Bluetooth to pair the computer with the Bluetooth folio
ke board. The Bluetooth folio ke board supports swift pair. Refer to “Connect a Bluetooth device” on page
14.
