Note: This ja k does not support standalone external mi rophones. If
you use headsets, hoose one with a single plug.
3. Power button Press the button to turn on the omputer or put the omputer into
sleep mode.
Note: You an turn on the omputer by flipping open the LCD s reen
if Flip to Boot is enabled.

4. Power light The power button has an integrated light to show the power status.
• On: The omputer is turned on.
• Off: The omputer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
• Blinking: The omputer is in sleep mode.

Work with Windows
The following table ontains Windows frequently used settings. You an learn the basi s and start working
with Windows right away.
To onfigure settings, type the orresponding keywords in the Windows sear h box and sele t the best
mat h. Follow the on-s reen instru tions to ustomize settings.

networks
For models with a wireless LAN module, you an onne t your omputer to
a Wi-Fi® network. Cli k the network i on in the Windows notifi ation area,
and then sele t a network for onne tion.
Note: The wireless LAN module on your omputer may support different
standards. For some ountries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disabled
a ording to lo al regulations.
Wi-Fi
Airplane mode Airplane mode is a onvenient setting to turn all wireless ommuni ations of
your omputer on and off. You may need to turn it on when boarding an
airplane.

Night light mode Night light is a swit h in Windows that you an turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your s reen shows warmer olors and the amount of emitted
blue light is redu ed. Enabling night light redu es the han es of developing
eye fatigue or eye strain.

If night light mode is turned on, you an adjust the olor temperature of the
s reen.
Note: Sele ted Lenovo omputers are low blue light ertified. These
omputers are tested with night light turned on and olor temperature set to
the default value of 48.

Updates
Mi rosoft periodi ally releases feature and se urity updates to the Windows
operating system. Updates that are appli able to your Windows version are
downloaded automati ally when your omputer is onne ted to the
Internet. When updates are downloaded, you are prompted to restart the
omputer to install these updates. You an also manually he k if there are
available updates for the installed version of Windows.
ttention: Only use Windows Update to download and install updates.
Updates downloaded from other sour es may in lude se urity risks.

• Type Get Help or Tips in the Windows sear h box and then press Enter. When the app opens, type the
problem des ription and sele t the mat hed result.
• Visit Mi rosoft support Web site: https://support.mi rosoft. om. Enter what you are looking for in the
sear h box and get sear h results.
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager
They are both apps developed by Lenovo. Using either of them, you an:
• View produ t information and system status
• Manage and hange devi e settings
• Che k for and perform system update
Note: This feature is only available on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager, you an he k for and
perform driver update.
Depending on the ountry or region in whi h your omputer is pur hased, one of the apps may be pre-
installed on your omputer. To open it, type its name in the Windows Sear h box and sele t the mat hed
result. If neither of the apps is pre-installed, you may install one on your own. Lenovo Vantage is available for
download free of harge from the Mi rosoft Store.
Note: App features are subje t to hange with updates and spe ifi features may not be available on all
Lenovo produ ts.
The Novo Button menu
The Novo Button menu an be displayed before the operating system starts. From the menu, you an
hoose to
• Open the BIOS/UEFI setup utility
• Open the boot devi e sele tion menu
• Open the Windows startup options s reen
From the Windows startup options s reen, you an then hoose to
• Continue: Exit and ontinue to Windows
• Use a devi e: Use a USB drive, network onne tion or Windows re overy DVD
• Troubleshoot: Reset your omputer or see advan ed options
• Turn off your PC
Open the Novo Button menu
For Lenovo omputers with a Novo button, you an press the button to open the Novo Button menu.
Step 1. Turn off the omputer.
Step 2. Open the LCD s reen and press the Novo button.
Note: Alternatively, turn off the omputer. Press Fn and the power button to open the Novo Button menu.

Interact with your computer
Keyboard hotkeys
Some keys on the keyboard are printed with i ons. These keys are alled hotkeys and an be pressed alone
or in ombination with the Fn key to open ertain apps or hange ertain settings qui kly. The fun tions of
the hotkeys are symbolized by the i ons printed on them.
Hotkey Function
Mute/Unmute sound.
De rease/In rease system volume.
Mute/Unmute the mi rophone.
De rease/In rease s reen brightness.
Swit h display devi es.
Turn airplane mode on and off.
Open the Windows Settings app.
Lo k the s reen.
Display thumbnails of all open apps.
Open the Windows Cal ulator app.
Open Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager, or an app laun h bar.
Open the Windows s reenshot tool.
Turn on/off or adjust the brightness of the keyboard ba klight.
Note: This hotkey must be used with the Fn key.
Hotkey mode
Some hotkeys share keys with fun tion keys (F1 to F12). The hotkey mode is a UEFI/BIOS setting that
hanges how hotkeys (or fun tion keys) are used.

Disabled Hold down the Fn key and press one

Note: Hotkeys that do not share keys with fun tion keys are not affe ted by the hotkey mode setting. They
should always be used with the Fn key.
The FnLock switch
The FnLo k is a swit h that reverses the default and hidden fun tion of a hotkey. The following table
provides an example of how the FnLo k swit h hanges the default fun tion of the F1 key.

Note: The F1 fun tion is appli ation-dependent. It may have no fun tion if the a tive appli ation does not
have a definition for the key.
The FnLo k swit h shares the ESC key (in the upper left orner of the keyboard). To turn it on or off, press Fn
+ ESC.
