DMX4o.ThesecablesarenotsuppliedwiththeDMX4unitsandcanbepurchasedseparatelyfromyourlocallightingormusic
retailer.TheDMX4iandDMX4ocanuseeither(3)pinor(5)pinDMXcables.ThissystemoffersONEWAYcontrolonly–from
FOHtostage.
CAT5Jumpers–CAT5jumpersarerequiredtoconnecttheDMX4iandDMX4ototheLightVipertransportsystem.These
jumpersarenotsuppliedwiththeDMX4units.Werecommend“Ruggedized”CAT5connectorsbeusedinsituationswhere
thesecablesmaybepronetobeingsteppedonorpulledwhileinuse.

Toconnect&useyourDMX4unitspleasefollowthesesteps:
1. PlacetheDMX4iasnearaspossibletotheVIM‐1832mixerboxorVIM‐MY32Scards.ConnecttheDMXitoyourVIM‐
1832mixerboxorVIM‐MY32Scardsusing“ruggedized”CAT5cable.
2. PlacetheDMX4ounitonstageasnearaspossibletothelightingfixturesyouwillbecontrolling.ConnecttheDMXoto
yourVIS‐1832mixerbox,VIS‐4832orVIM‐0808unitusing“ruggedized”CAT5cable.
3. ConnecttheDMXcontrolbetweenthelightingcontrollerandtheDMX4i.
4. ConnecttheDMX4otothelightingfixturesbeingcontrolled.
5. Testthesystemtoensurecontrolisworking
Note:TheDMX4iandDMX4oareidenticalwiththeexceptionthatDMXisinputtotheDMX4iandoutput
fromtheDMX4o.With that in mind, the description below pertains to both units.TheDMX4oisidentical

receivetheirpowerfromtheLightViperunitstheyareconnectedtothroughthisRJ45connector.
Important:Eachchannelhasaselectionofconnectors.Onlyoneconnectorperchannelmaybeusedatone
time.ThisincludestheD9HAcontrolconnectoronchannel4.
