About Your HugN-Go
HugN-Go is comprised of several parts.
POST ASSEMBLY: Main support for the upper
section of the HugN-GO. The assembly consists of a
square post, mounting bracket for the actuator, and
base plate for connection to the Base Assembly. The
post is just over two feet in length and is welded to
the base plate. The mounting brackets purpose is to
attach the Actuator to the base, and is also welded
to the base plate as well as against the post. The
base plate has (4) holes located at its corners for
fastening the Post Assembly to the Base.
TURN STATION ASSEMBLY: The Turn-Station
Assembly is a set of components which allows the
support bars to rotate in a circular motion, securing
the patient in the device. The Turn-Station is
connected to the Lift Straps and Lift Arms, and
located at the head of the upper section of the HugN
-GO, Components comprising the Turn-Station
Assembly: square tubing for the strap and arm
connection, gears with arms for connecting the
support bars to the Turn-Station Assembly, housing
for the gears to connect to assembly, protective
chest plate to eliminate gear pinch points, and
additional hardware.
NOTE: Beware of any possible pinch points between the
Lift Arms and Lift Straps when the device is at its high
and low positions.
NOTE: Using Leg Straps as a main means of support may
cause discomfort in the patient’s groin area.
NOTE: It is important that all bolts are tightened prior to
use.
LIFT ARMS: The Lift Arms are (2) square tubes that
are connected to the Post on one end and the Turn-
Station Assembly on the other. The purposes of the
Lift Arms are to transfer the patients’ load to the
base when lifting is in progress. The Actuator is con-
nected to both arms.
TORSO STRAP: The Torso Strap is intended to assist in
stabilizing the patient more securely in the device. It
is comprised of (2) straps with mating Velcro at one
end and a connection to a pin at the other. The straps
also have padding for the back and chest areas to
provide added comfort and support. For cleaning and
maintenance instructions on the straps, refer to
information in the unit care section.
LEG STRAPS: The Leg Straps consist of (2) 110 cm long
adjustable straps with male connectors at both ends.
One male connector end of each strap attaches to a
groin strap hook in front of the patient, on the turn
station assembly. The other male connector end of
each strap runs between the legs and attaches to the
female buckles hanging down behind the patient,
below the arm supports. See Strap Application Points
on Page 17.
ACTUATOR: The Actuator is the mechanism that
raises and lowers the Lift Arms. It consists of a
concentric expanding and retracting circular shaft
that houses a DC motor, worm-gear, and various
components. Its purpose is to provide a means of
adjustability for various patient heights and desired
support.
CONTROL UNIT: The Control Unit is the junction box
for the battery power, handheld switch and contains
electrical safety protection circuitry. The battery
pack and hand switch plug into the control unit.
SUPPORT BARS: HugN-Go unit has two adjustable
handlebars. Each handlebar is attached on opposite
sides of the Turn-Station Assembly. The Support Bars
have a circular tube that extends from the main
square tubing. This circular tubing provides the base
for the hand grips to be attached.
ACTUATOR MOUNTING CAP: A cap is used to
connect the Actuator to the Lift Arms as well as
ensuring a more secure connection. The Actuator
shaft is inserted into a hole in the cap for guaranteed
alignment. The actuator mounting cap is then
connected to the Lift Arms by means of a bolt that
connects the Lift Arms and Actuator Mounting Cap.
BASE: The Base consists of two horizontal bars
connected by two crossbars or U-shaped tubes. The
Base has an open end and a closed end. The closed
end is where the Actuator is mounted and battery
pack and control box are placed. The Base moves
freely over ground by means of Caster wheels.
CASTERS: Two Casters on one side of the Base are
total locking Casters and the two on the opposite side
are directional locking Casters. Casters come pre-
assembled with your unit. Units with the adjustable
base option will have two directional lock casters on
the end with the post and total lock on the end that
opens.

Locking and Unlocking Casters
Total Locking Casters
Total locking casters are indicated by a red
sticker on the locking lever. To lock the total
locking casters, press the tab until the brake snaps
into place. The caster will lock the swivel of the
caster and rotation of the wheel. Locking all four
casters will make the device stationary.
Directional Locking Casters
Directional lock casters are indicated by a green
sticker in the locking lever. To lock the
directional locking casters, press the tab and align
the caster with the frame. Once Aligned this locks
the swivel of the casters and is beneficial for
walking in a straight path.
NOTE: While locking the caster prevents rolling of the
unit, it DOES NOT prevent the unit from sliding on a
sloped, slippery floor. The unit should only be used on a
flat floor away from stairs or ramps. NEVER leave a
patient unattended in the unit.
