3. How to Pair Your echo II
Fully charge via USB. Use 5V chargers or charge using
your PC.
Do not use any rapid chargers

Livescribe+ app.

Bluetooth icon will blink fast when it's in discovery mode.
Pairing is successful when the Bluetooth

How to Update the Smartpen Software (New Notebooks)
Y
ou can use these two methods to pair and connect to Bluetooth
audio device.

Please set the discoverable state on your Bluetooth audio device.
*There should be no other devices that are discoverable around

Tap the search icon or go to Menu > Bluetooth audio > Search

you are trying to use.

Warranty for Smartpen & Accessories
Livescribe Inc. (“Livescribe”) warrants this smartpen or accessory sold under the Livescribe
brand (the “Product”) against defects in material and workmanship to end-user who legally
acquires possession through original direct or retail purchase of the Product (“Customer”)
for the Warranty Period of 12 months (1 Year) which will commence on the date the Product
is first purchased through original direct or retail purchase by Customer.
Any claims registered outside the Warranty Period will not be accepted. A claim under warranty
does not change the remaining period of warranty. Livescribe will, at its option, repair or replace
any such defects in the Product at no charge. Repair parts or replacement of the Livescribe
Product will be furnished on an exchange basis and will be either new or refurbished to be
functionally equivalent to new. The warranty in respect of a repaired or replaced item shall
be for the remainder of the Warranty Period. All original items replaced in the performance of
services shall become the property of Livescribe and the new or replacement parts will become
the property of the Customer. The limited warranty is valid and enforceable for all Products
which Livescribe intended for sale in United States, Canada, UK, European Economic Area
and Switzerland (the “Territory”) and which are purchased through original direct or retail
purchase by Customers within the Territory. The applicable warranty rights shall be those of the
relevant country in the Territory where the Product was originally purchased regardless of the
relevant Customer’s location within the Territory at the time of requesting warranty service.
Requesting Warranty Service
In the event of Product failure, the Customer should take the following actions:
a) refer to the Quick Start Guide or visit local Livescribe website (www.livescribe.com)
in order to identify and possibly correct the problem;
b) if the problem cannot be resolved by refence to the Quick Start Guide or Livescribe
website, the Customer should then contact the Customer Service Department for
instructions (Livescribe.customerservic[email protected]).
To receive warranty service, the Customer will be required to produce the original
purchase invoice or receipt for the Product (from when the Product was first sold
to a Customer) which must not be defaced in any way and must show the purchase
date, dealer name, and model name / number.
Warranty Exceptions
This Product is not considered to be defective in materials nor workmanship by reason that
it requires adaption in order to conform to applicable national or local technical or safety
standards in force in any country other than the one for which the Product was originally
designed and manufactured. This warranty will not cover, and no reimbursement will be
made for such adaption, nor any damage which may result. All software provided by
Livescribe with this Product is provided “As Is” and on an “As Available” basis, without
warranties of any kind from Livescribe, either express or implied.
This warranty does not cover the following:
Product failure arising from incorrect installation, modifications or service performed by a
non-Livescribe authorized person, or use not consistent with technical or safety standards
in current force, or failure to comply with the Product Quick Guide, Safety & Handling Guide
include abuse or misuse; Deterioration of the Product due to normal wear and tear and costs
relating to transport, removal or installation of the Product;
NOTICE :
CONSUMERS STATUTORY RIGHTS UNDER ANY APPLICABLE NATIONAL LEGISLATION ARISING
FROM THE PURCHASE CONTRACT OR OTHERWISE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS WARRANTY.
THIS WARRANTY GIVES THE CUSTOMER SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS; THE CUSTOMER MAY ALSO
HAVE OTHER RIGHTS, WHICH MAY VARY FROM STATE TO STATE, COUNTRY TO COUNTRY.
Damage caused by lightning, water, fire, acts of God, war, public disturbances, incorrect mains voltage,
improper ventilation, transit, neglect, power surge or failure, or excessive exposure to liquid, moisture
,
dust or extreme thermal or environmental conditions or rapidchanges in these conditions, or any other
cause beyond the control of Livescribe;
Product failure caused by the Product being used in conjunction with product or parts not approved by
Livescribe for use with this Product; Product failure caused as a result of reconfiguration changes to the Product
(either hardware or software) or failure caused by third-party software or application or virus infection;
If the model, serial or product number on the Product has been altered, deleted, removed, or made illegible
or without proof of purchase (receipt or invoice, etc);
Loss of information or data stored on the Product; or losses relating to any business of yours, loss of profits,
or loss of opportunity; *Since some of your personal settings, downloads and other information may be
deleted during repair or replacement, the Customer shall be responsible for backing up and otherwise
protecting their data against loss, damage or destruction. Livescribe shall not be liable for the loss of any
data howsoever caused.*
Death or personal injury, unless caused by Livescribe’s negligence;
Third party hardware or software which may be sold or packaged with the Livescribe Product
Any products that are not Livescribe-branded, even if packaged or sold with Livescribe products. Non
-Livescribe branded products may have the benefit of a manufacturer’s warranty provided the product
manufacturer – please see your product box and literature for details. Services performed by Livescribe in
rectifying any damage or defect caused as a result of any of these excluded reasons shall be subject to
additional charges for labor, transportation, and parts. Re-installation of original software shall be subject
to additional charges.Livesribe’s liability under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing the defective
Product under the terms set out above. Livescribe’s liability for fraud, or death or personal injury caused by
negligence, is not limited.

Important Safety Information
Handle the Livescribe smartpen with care. It contains sensitive electronic components, including batteries, and can
be damaged, impair functionality, or cause injury if dropped, burned, punctured, crushed, disassembled, or if
exposed to excessive heat or liquid or to environments having high concentrations of industrial chemicals, including
near evaporating liquified gasses such as helium. Don’t use damaged Livescribe smartpen.
Bluetooth® : To turn off Bluetooth® on the Livescribe smartpen, disable/unpair from Mobile Device.
Batteries :
Don’t attempt to replace the Livescribe smartpen batteries yourself. You may damage the batteries
,
which could cause overheating and injury.
Charging :
Charge the Livescribe smartpen with the charging cable and a power adapter or computer. Only charge
with an adapter that is compliant with applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards
,
including the International Standard for Safety of Information Technology Equipment (IEC 60950-1). Other adapters
may not meet applicable safety standards and charging with such adapters could pose a risk of death or injury.
Do not charge using Automobile auxiliary power outlet. Using damaged cables or chargers, or charging when moisture
is present, can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the Livescribe smartpen or other property.
Choking Hazard : The small parts included with the Livescribe smartpen may present a choking hazard or cause
other injury to small children. Keep them away from small children.
Medical Device Interference : The Livescribe smartpen contain components and radios that emit electromagnetic
fields. Livescribe smartpen also contain magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with
pacemakers, defibrillators, or other medical devices. Maintain a safe distance of separation between your medical
device and Livescribe smartpen. Consult your physician and medical device manufacturer for information specific
to your medical device. Stop using Livescribe smartpen if you suspect they are interfering with your pacemaker

defibrillator, or any other medical device.
Prolonged Heat Exposure : Avoid prolonged skin contact with a device, its power adapter, and the charging
cable and connector when plugged into a power source, because it may cause discomfort or injury. For example

while the Livescribe smartpen is charging using the charging cable and a power adapter, don’t sit or sleep on the
smartpen, charging cable, connector, or power adaptor, or place them under a blanket, pillow or your body. Take
special care if you have a physical condition that affects your ability to detect heat against your body.
Skin Irritation :
Livescribe smartpens can lead to skin irritation if not properly cleaned. Clean Livescribe smartpens
regularly with a soft lint-free cloth. Don’t get moisture in any openings, or use aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives.
If a skin problem develops, discontinue use. If the problem persists, consult a physician.
