General notice for installation and use
The Baffin.1 child car seat is suitable for ECE groups I-III, weight 9-36 kg
and is designed to be installed using the vehicle three-point seatbelt with a
separate five-point harness system for securing children in mass group I
(weight 9-18kg).
Baffin.1 is additionally tested and approved as a ‘Special Needs Restraint’
system designed for children who have special needs as a result of either a
physical or mental handicap.
This system is approved to Regulation No. 44 of the Economic Commission
for Europe of the United Nations (UNECE) —Uniform provisions concerning
the approval of restraining devices for child occupants of power-driven
vehicles (‘Child Restraint Systems’) [2016/1722] - Supplement 10 to the 04
series of amendments —Date of entry into force: 18 June 2016.
Baffin.1 is designed and approved for use in following “mass groups”:
•Group I for children of mass from 9 kg to 18 kg
•Group II for children of mass from 15 kg to 25 kg
•Group III for children of mass from 22 kg to 36 kg
A correct fit is likely if the vehicle manufacturer has declared in the vehicle
handbook that the vehicle is capable of accepting a child restraint system for
this mass group.
If in doubt, consult either the child restraint manufacturer or the retailer.
Attentive Items
For your child’s safety, please read this user manual carefully and retain
the user manual for future reference.
–Please, fix safety seat correctly according to the instruction, because any
incorrect operations will be dangerous.
–When the children whose weights are from 9 to 18 kg (Group I) use this
kind of seats, they must use the harness.

–When the children whose weights are from 15 to 36 kg (Group II III) use
this kind of seats, they need not use the harness.
–The rigid items and plastic parts of a child restraint must be located. We
are not liable, during everyday use of the vehicle to become trapped by a
door of the vehicle.
–Any luggage or other objects liable to cause injuries in the event of a
collision shall be properly secured.
–The child safety seat should be put forward facing and be fixed by 3
point safety belt. Please ensure that any lap strap is worn low down, so that
the pelvis is firmly engaged.
–The child safety seat could be only used in cars and should not be used
in any other places.
–The child safety seat must be secured with 3 point safety belt, even
when it is not in use. An unsecured seat may injure other passengers in the
car in an urgent stop.
–Not leave children in their child restraint system unattended.
–Tell your child that he/she should be never play with the belt buckle.
–Only suitable for use in the listed vehicles fitted with 3 point safety belts,
approved to ECE Regulation No.16 or other equivalent standards.
–The child safety seat should be changed when it has been subject to
violent stresses in an accident.
–When the chair is not provided with a textile cover, the chair should be
kept away from sunlight, otherwise it may be too hot for the child’s skin.
–The child safety seat must not be used without the cover. Please use the
original cover, because the cover constitutes an integral part of the safety
seat performance.
–Any straps holding the safety seat to the vehicle should be tight, that
any straps restraining the child should be adjusted to the child’s body, and
should not be twisted.
–It is dangerous to make any alterations without the approval and not to
follow the installation instructions.
–Not to use any load hearing contact points other that those described in
the instructions and marked in the child restraint.
–The instruction can be retained on the child restraint for its life period.

Fit the safety seat to the vehicle seat with 3 point safety belt as
show on the diagram.
Warning:
1.Please use the lock-off the device.
2.The shoulder belt should pass under the head-rest, but not through the
hook.

Tighten the lap and diagonal seat belt.

2Using the Harness (2.1 –2.6)
Always use harness for children of mass from 9 kg to 18 kg

Your child should be fastened to the seat using harness (5-point safety
belt integrated in the seat). REMEMBER –the seat must be secured with the
vehicle’s 3-point belt before (point 1 in user manual)
To increase the length of the harness Fig. 7 press and hold down the
central adjusting button (1) and pull the shoulder straps (2) at the
bottom

Lay the shoulder straps to the side

Place your child in the seat and put the child’s arms through the
shoulder straps.

Fasten the buckle by placing the two tongues over each other (1)
and pushing them in with an audible click

Tighten the straps by pulling the central belt in the direction of the
arrow. The straps should be pulled tight.

2.7-2.8 Adjusting the height of the harness
Pull the red locking button and adjust the head support in the next
position

Use one hand to press down the central adjusting button, and the
other hand pull the belt to adjust it to be suitable length. The
straps of harness should be positioned as shown in Fig. 14.

3Use of the child seat for older children (from 15 - 36kg · ECE-
Group II-III)
For children with body weight more than 18 kg, the harness should be
removed. For children between 15 kg and 18 of body weight ALWAYS use
harness as described in point 2. Using the Harness (2.1 –2.6)
Remove the end piece 15(1):
Push the central adjuster (2) down, keep it down and remove the belt
from the rear.

Remove the guiding tube by pushing it upwards. Then remove the
shoulder belts.

Partly remove the seat cover and unloop the lap belt from the seat
body.

Unloop the metal plate from the button strap and pull the buckle
up and out

Pull out the car belt, pass the shoulder belt under the headrest at
one side. And the lap belt pass through the hole of both armrests.
Then pushing the buckle in with an audible click.

Place the diagonal belt under the headrest
Warning:
1. Not use the lock-off the device.
2. The shoulder belt should pass under the headrest, but not through the
hook.

Adjust the position of headrest according to the height of kids. As
show in Fig. 13 It is important that the height of child’s shoulder is
not higher than the position of belt. As show in Fig. 14. The path of
car belt (both the shoulder belt and lap belt) finally must be fixed
under the armrest or the other way will be not safe. As shown in
the Fig. 23

5Additional REHA accessories for Baffin.1 - Fig. 24 –instruction
for assembly and use
Baffin.1 is approved for the use as a “restraint system for special needs
(“S”)” according to Regulation No. 44 of the Economic Commission for
Europe of the United Nations (UNECE).

All REHA accessories (Fig. 24) are not safety devices.
They do not protect against car accidents injuries. All
additional accessories described below are only additional
positioning equipment. For child’s safety, you have to
always install and secure the seat and child with respect
to general rules described in original user manual for
Baffin.1.
Use of different or all accessories depends on the physical parameters of
the child’s body. You can use REHA accessories only to provide better
positioning and support of thorax, head and legs of child.
IMPORTANT NOTE
For use in ECE group I (for children with a body weight from 9 kg to
18 kg):
1. Your Baffin.1 seat should be installed in a car using 3-point seat belt.
Follow the point 1 “Installation of the seat with a 3-point seat belt” in
original user manual for Baffin.1.
2. Your child should be fastened to the seat using harness (5-point safety
belt integrated in the seat). Follow point 2 “Using the Harness (2.1 –
2.6)” in original user manual for Baffin.1. REMEMBER –the seat must
be secured with the vehicle’s 3-point belt before.

For use in ECE group II and group III (for children with a body weight from
15 kg to 36 kg):
1. Restrain the seat Baffin.1 and child with the 3-point seat belt. Follow
point 4 “Restrain the seat and child with the 3-point seat belt.(Group II
III - with backrest) “ in original user manual for Baffin.1.
2. The 5-point belt for children with a body weight of over 18 kg can be
used as an additional positioning item. In this case, always secure your
child using the vehicle’s 3-point seat belt

Extra headrest upholstery.
Pull the side covers of extra headrest as tight as possible over the side
parts of the basic headrest. Next, pull the top edge of the extra headrest over
the top part of the basic headrest.
Use extra headrest upholstery when your child’s head needs extra side
support for a head.

Backrest cushion
Backrest cushion with lateral support provides better positioning for thin
trunk (thorax).
Attach the backrest cushion by placing it on the original basic backrest
upholstery. Guide two strips (Fig. 27) through the holes in upholstery (Fig. 28
–hole pointed as a 1 on the Figure) in the same place like shoulder belts from
the harness. Attach both strips to the metal bar on the rear part of backrest
seat in the same place like shoulder belts of the harness. (Fig. 29)

Chest belt
The chest belt is not a safety relevant item. The chest belt is only for
additional positioning and support of a thorax (trunk).
The chest belt is guided under the backrest upholstery (Fig. 32). Next, you
need to cover it by original backrest upholstery. You can fasten the chest belt
with velcro strap. (Fig. 33). Correct positioning of chest belt is presented in
Fig. 33 A.
