1 Introduction
TheLocaSafeUT‐221SafetyTagisapartoftheLocaSafeproximitywarningsystem.Itisdesignedto
improveworkplacesafetybyreducingtheriskofhuman‐vehicleandvehicle‐vehiclecollisions.
Thesafetytagistobewornbypersonnel.ItinteractswiththeLocaSafebasestationviaUltra‐Wideband
(UWB)radiowavetomeasuretheuser’sdistancefromvehicles,withanaccuracyof±20cm.Whenthis
distancereducestoapre‐set,unsafedistance,itwillwarnthewearerviaavisual/sound/vibration
warning/alarmthatthereisimminentdangerofacollision.
Thesafetytagalsoprovidesinformationabouttime/dateandstepcountwithits33mm(1.3‐inch)
display,thusreplacingthefunctionalityofanormalwatchandprovidingadditionalfeatures.

3 Usage:
3.1 Activation
TheLocaSafesafetytagisshippedinits‘deepsleep’modefordeliverytocustomers.Thesafetytag
mustbeactivatedbeforeitcanbeusedforthefirsttime.ToactivatetheLocaSafesafetytag,press
Button1(③)oncetoactivatethetag.TheOperationindicator(②)willflashthreetimesifthe
activationhasbeensuccessful.TheLCDdisplay(①)willthenturnonandtheoperationindicator(②)
willflashinblue,indicatingthatthetaghasbeenactivated.
3.2 Alarm
TheLocaSafesafetytagiscapableofprovidingdifferentvisual,audibleandvibrationalalarmsforupto
threedifferentproximityzones.Therangeofeachzoneandtheircorrespondingalarmscanbe
configuredintheLocaSafebasestationusingtheLocaSafeConfigurationApp.Error!Referencesource

3.3 Powersaving
Automaticdisplayturnoff
Ifthereisnofurthervisualalarmtobedisplayed,theLCDdisplay(①)willautomaticallyturn
offafter30seconds.Thedisplaywillturnonimmediatelywhenanewvisualalarmneedstobe
givenoranyofthebuttonshavebeenpressed.
Sleepmode
Thesafetytaggoesintosleepmodeifithasremainedstaticformorethanoneminute.Inthis
mode,thetagwillstopallitsactivitiesandturnofftheLCDdisplay(①).Itwillnotbedetected
byanyLocaSafebasestationandwillnottriggeranyalarm.Thesafetytagwillinstantlywakeup
whenitismovedandwillrecommenceitsnormalfunctionality.
Theinternalbatterycanpowerthesafetytagin‘sleepmode’formorethanonemonth.
3.4 Powerindication
Theremainingbatterycapacityandthebatterychargingstateareindicatedbythebatteryiconinthe
LCDdisplay(①).Additionally,theoperationindicator(②)usesdifferentcolorstoindicatethebattery
status.Theindicatorflasheswithabluelightwhentheremainingbatterycapacityisabove20%.This
changestoaredlightifthebatterycapacityfallsbelow20%.
3.5 Recharge:
Connectthe5VUSBmagneticcontactchargertotheLocaSafesafetytagtorechargethetag’slithium
battery.
Theoperationindicator(②)willdisplayasolidorangelightwhenthesafetytagisrecharging.The
safetytag’sfunctionalityautomaticallystopswhenitisbeingrecharged.Whilerecharging,LocaSafe
basestationswillnottriggeranyalarm.
Theoperationindicator(④)willturngreenwhenthesafetytag’sbatteryisfullycharged.
TheLocaSafesafetytagusesali‐pobatterywhichhasnomemory.Thismeansthatbatteryperformance
doesnotdiminishwhenpartialchargingfrequentlyoccurs.
4 SetTimeandDate
TheTime/DatethataredisplayedontheLCDscreencorrespondwiththeUTC+1TimeZone.Theywill
needtobeadjustedifthesafetytagisusedinadifferentUTCzone.Whenthebatteryiscompletely
empty,thetime/datewillberesettoJanuary1,2000,00:00:00.Youwillneedtomanuallyresetthe
Time/Dateaccordingly.
TochangethetimeontheLocaSafesafetytag:
1. WhenadjustingtheLocaSafesafetytag’ssettings,ensureyouareinasafelocationawayfrom
anymovingvehiclesandalsooutofrangeofanyLocaSafebasestation.Ifanalarmistriggered
byanearbyLocaSafebasestationwhileadjustingthetime,thetagwillexitthetimesetting
modeandanychangeswillnotbesaved.Alsomakesurethebatteryhasbeensufficiently
chargedbeforeimplementinganychangestothesettings.

5 Statement
TheLocaSafesystem(theProduct)constitutesasafetyaidinstrumenttoreducetheriskofhuman‐
vehicleandhuman‐drivenvehicle‐vehiclecollisionsintheworkingenvironment.Itdoesnotconstitutea
personalsafetysystemasitdoesnotinteractinanywaywithanyvehiclesbeingoperated(forexample,
applyingthebrakes,etc.)
Inherently,theLocaSafesystem'seffectivenessissubordinatetotheoperator'sactionswheneverand
wherever.ThepurchaseanduseoftheLocaSafesafetytagdonotexoneratetheBuyer/Userfrom
adopting/implementinganyexistinghealth&safetyproceduresandorregulationsappropriatetothe
locationandnatureoftheworkbeingcarriedout.TheLocaSafeshouldbeusedasanadditional(and
optional)safetymeasureaimedatreducingtheriskof(costlyandtime‐consuming)accidentsinthe
workplace,notasasubstituteforanyexistinghealth&safetymeasuresbeingimplemented.
Furthermore,theLocaSafesystemworksusingradiofrequencytransmissionsand,assuch,noguarantee
canbegiventhattransmissionofsignalsbetweenaLocaSafeandLocaSafedock,andvice‐versa,will
remain100%constantowingtothepotentialforexternalinterferencewiththesignal,including
magneticinterference,signalobstruction,lossofpower,etc.
LocatechsB.Vwillnotbeheldliableinanywayforanydirectorindirectdamage,ofanykind(including
personalinjuryorpropertydamage)subjecttoanymatterwhatsoeverexperiencedbytheBuyer/User
orthirdpartiesasaresultofusinganyLocatech’sproducts.
