Preparation Before Installation
Prior to installing the door lock, you need to determine the opening direction of the door, as there
are some adjustments that may need to be made to the lock body, door handle orientation and the
spindle rotation direction. Don’t worry if you get it wrong, as it’s easy enough to remove the lock
from the door and re-adjust, if necessary.
Determine Door Opening Direction
There are four possible opening directions of a door. In our case, we want to view the door from the
outside, looking in, and use this as our reference point for determining the opening direction.
The first two diagrams, then, are with the door with the hinge on the RIGHT side as we look inwards.
The opening directions are Right Outward and Right Inward, respectively.
RIGHT OUTWARD
RIGHT INWARD
The next two diagrams have the hinge on the LEFT side. The opening directions are Left Outward and
Left Inward, respectively.
LEFT OUTWARD
LEFT INWARD
Once you’ve determined which direction your door is opening, proceed to make adjustments to the
door mechanisms.

Fittings for the Different Door Opening Directions
The Smart Retina Lock components will need to have some adjustments made to cater for the
different opening directions of the door. The diagrams below illustrate the basics before we delve
into the details of the adjustments.

Door Latch Adjustment
Having determined the door opening direction and what needs to be adjusted, you may first need to
adjust the direction of the door latch on the lock body, so that it will engage correctly when the door
closes.
The rule of thumb here is quite simple. Simply rotate the door latch so that its bevel (curved bit)
points in the direction of the door frame, once it is fitted into the door. The following procedure
outlines how to do this.
1) Remove the screw by the door latch with a Philips screwdriver (Fig. 1).
2) Rotate the Cam Lock with a slotted screwdriver to open the deadbolt (Fig. 2).
3) Pull out the door latch and rotate it (Fig. 3).
4) Push the door latch back and tighten its screw.
5) Rotate the Cam Lock back to retract the deadbolt.

10
Lock Body Adjustment
Depending on the door opening direction, you may need to switch the direction of the Lock Body for
left and right swinging doors, by making adjustments to the spindle clutch.
1) Remove the screw for switching the clutch direction with a Philips screwdriver (Fig. 1).
2) Remove the Inside and Outside Handle Spindlesand swap them around (Fig. 2).
3) Check to see if the Inside Handle Spindle is installed in the right place (See the mark in Fig. 3).
4) Tighten the screw for switching the clutch direction.

11
Door Handle Orientation
Depending on the door opening direction, you may need to rotate the handles on the front and rear
plates of the door unit. The procedure below explains how to do this.
1) Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the
screw holding the handle in place, as
shown.
2) Rotate the handle 180 degrees clockwise
and tighten the screw again.
3) Rotate the handle to check it works
normally.
4) Repeat the above for the other side (inside
door unit).

12
Installing the Door Lock
Installing the Lock Body
1) Measure the point where you wish to
place the lock template – Typically,
1000mm to 1200mm from the bottom
and 60mm from the edge of the door.
2) Mark this point.
3) Place the supplied template to line up
the marker with the reference mark on
the template.
4) Mark out all the holes according to the
template. This is where you will be
drilling.
5) Remove the template, once everything
has been marked.
6) Drill the holes accordingly.

13
7) Insert the Lock Body and make sure all
the holes line up.
8) Screw the Lock Body in place. It’s now
ready for the attachment of the front
and rear door lock plates.

14
Installing the Front Plate
1) Install the connecting bolts, spindles and
key link strip.
2) Align the front plate to the holes in the
door.
3) Affix the front plate to the door making
sure the cables are pulled through the hole.
4) Turn the handle to make sure the rotate as
expected. Turn the key on the bottom to
make sure the door latch operates as
expected.

15
Installing the Back Plate
1) Connect the cables.
2) Install the square spindle (back plate).
Make sure this aligns with the double
lock knob which should be vertical.
3) Affix the back plate to the door with
the two screws as shown.
4) Rotate the handle to make sure the
door latch works as expected and
rotate the lock knob to check if the
double lock engages.

If this code does not work, you may need to perform a factory reset. This can be done by pressing
the Factory Reset button, the hole for which is located below the battery compartment. You will
need a small pin or paperclip to reach the button and keep it pressed it for 10 seconds.

17
User Administration and Security
Entering Admin Mode

19
Set Always-Open (Unlocked) Mode
This setting disables the security on the door lock, so that anyone can gain access without having to
type a passcode, use fingerprint identification or NFC card.
To disable this, after it’s been set, simply enter your passcode, fingerprint or NFC card.
Enable Double Authentication
This can be enabled to force each user to use two methods of authentication before they gain
access. For instance, they would need to enter a passcode and fingerprint, fingerprint + NFC card or
NFC card + passcode.
Enable Dual-User Authentication
In this mode, two users must authenticate before access is granted. Once the first user is
authenticated, the second user must do the same, with their passcode/fingerprint/NFC card within
10 seconds.
