Well, hello there! It's time to meet the exceedingly exciting,
compact, versatile, readymade and modular solution for film
scanning at home or on the go! For your ultimate scanning
satisfaction, the DigitaLIZA+ is at your service for creating
scans with your digital camera whilst the DigitaLIZA Max
also includes a smartphone stand so that you can scan away
to your heart's content with either your digital camera or
smartphone – how about that!?
Each system gives you total control over scanning your
35 mm or 120 film formats and you can even scan special
formats – sprockets, panoramas, overlapping exposures –
you name it, give it a go and see what happens! Magnet
technology holds your negatives perfectly flat and the
handy advancing knob mechanism helps to make the process
smooth, fast and completely fuss-free!
Read the following manual to get to grips with film scanning
using your DigitaLIZA+ or DigitaLIZA Max and prepare for
exciting times ahead!

BEFORE USING
Installing batteries into the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B]
1. Slide the Battery Door [B5] open.
2. Insert 2 × AA batteries into the Battery Chamber [B6].
3. Close the Battery Door [B5] by sliding it back into place.
Using the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B] with a micro-USB
power supply
1. Plug a standard micro-USB cable into the Micro-USB Socket [B4] on the
Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B].
2. Plug the standard micro-USB cable into a USB power supply (adapter or
power bank).

LOADING FILM INTO THE 35MM FILM HOLDER [A]
1. Put the 35 mm film tongue into the Film Loading Slot [A2], with the emul-
sion side facing down on the 35 mm Film Holder [A].
2. Hold the 35 mm film and turn the Film Loading Knob [A1] clockwise, the
film will then be loaded into the 35 mm Film Holder [A] and will come out
via the Film Ejection Slot [A3].
3. Turn the Film Loading Knob [A1] back and forth to adjust the frame position
of the film inside the 35 mm Film Holder [A].
4. You may insert the 36 × 24 mm Film Mask [B8] on top of the Backlight
Panel [B3] to cover any unwanted areas or perforations of the 35 mm film
if needed, and achieve a faster scanning process for each standard 35 mm
frame.
5. If you are scanning panoramic frames, such as photos taken with a Sprocket
Rocket camera, endless panoramas or overlapping exposures; you should insert
the 35 mm Panoramic Diffuser [B9] on top of the Backlight Panel [B3]
to ensure that the frame is evenly lit. When not in use, remove the 35 mm
Panoramic Diffuser [B9] by opening the 120 Film Holder Cover [B1]

LOADING FILM INTO THE 120 FILM HOLDER [B]
1. Open the 120 Film Holder Cover [B1] on the Backlight Panel with Built-in
120 Film Holder [B].
2. Remove the 35 mm Panoramic Diffuser [B9] located on top of the Back-
light Panel [B3].
3. Insert the 120 film into the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B]
with the emulsion side facing down and close the 120 Film Holder Cover [B1]
to hold the film in place.
4. To adjust the position of the film frame, repeat steps 1-3.

1. If you are using the DigitaLIZA Max, remove the Backlight Panel with Built-in
120 Film Holder [B] from the Smartphone Stand [C] and put it on a flat
surface.
2. If you are scanning 120 film, follow the steps in the previous section to load
your film into the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B].
3. If you are scanning 35 mm film, follow the steps in the previous section to
load your film into the 35 mm Film Holder [A]. Put the 35 mm Film Holder
[A] with film loaded on top of the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film
Holder [B].
4. Place the Removable Spirit Level [A4] on the 120 Film Holder Cover [B1]
or into the Spirit Level Slot of the 35 mm Film Holder [A].
5. Look at the Removable Spirit Level [A4] to make sure that the scanning
unit has been placed on a flat surface.
6. Set your digital camera above the scanning unit using a tripod mounted at a
suitable distance to prepare for scanning.
7. Press the Backlight On/Off Switch [B2] on the Backlight Panel [B3] to
turn the Backlight Panel [B3] on.

8. Take the Removable Spirit Level [A4] and place it on top of your digital
camera's monitor.
9. Look at the Removable Spirit Level [A4] again, then adjust your tripod until
your digital camera is perfectly level and the film frame is centered on your
digital camera's monitor. You are now ready to start scanning.
10. If you are scanning a negative image, you can invert your image using imaging
apps or imaging software on your computer (please refer to the suggestions
at lomography.com)

USING A SMARTPHONE AND THE DIGITALIZA MAX
1. Make sure the Smartphone Stand [C] is attached to the Base Plate [C1].
2. Open the Smartphone Clamp [C6] by turning the Smartphone Clamp Knob
[C8] counterclockwise.
3. Put your smartphone into the Smartphone Clamp [C6] and tighten the
Smartphone Clamp Knob [C8] by turning it clockwise.
4. Make sure your smartphone is secured within the Smartphone Clamp [C6]
and ensure that you don't overtighten the Smartphone Clamp Knob [C8].
5. Put the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B] onto the Base
Plate Slider [C2] of the Smartphone Stand Base Plate [C1].
6. If you are scanning 120 film, follow the steps in the previous section to load
your film into the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film Holder [B].
7. If you are scanning 35 mm film, follow the steps in the previous section to
load your film into the 35 mm Film Holder [A]. Put the 35 mm Film Holder
[A] with film loaded on top of the Backlight Panel with Built-in 120 Film
Holder [B].

8. Position the Removable Spirit Level [A4] on top of the 120 Film Holder
[B1] or into the Spirit Level Slot of the 35 mm Film Holder [A].
9. Look at the Removable Spirit Level [A4] to make sure that the scanning
unit has been placed on a flat surface.
10. Press the Backlight On/Off Switch [B2] on the Backlight Panel [B] to turn
the backlight on.
11. Open the camera application on your smartphone and look at the screen of
your smartphone whilst sliding the Base Plate Slider [C2] up & down, left &
right to center the film frame on your smartphone's camera screen.
12. Loosen the Smartphone Clamp Screw [C7] at the back of the Smartphone
Clamp [C6], then move the Smartphone Clamp [C6] with your smart-
phone attached up & down carefully to get the biggest scan of the image
within your smartphone camera's focus range.
13. If you are scanning a negative image you can invert your image using imaging
apps or imaging software on your computer (please refer to the suggestions
at lomography.com)

The DigitaLIZA+ and DigitaLIZA Max both allow you to scan 127 films using the
120 Film Holder built into the Backlight Panel:
LOADING 127 FILM INTO THE 120 FILM HOLDER [B]
1. Open the 120 Film Holder Cover [B1] of the 120 Film Holder [B].
2. Install the 127 Film Mask [B7] on top of the Light Panel [B3].
3. Put the 127 film into the 120 Film Holder [B] with 127 Film Mask [B7]
attached and close the 120 Film Holder Cover [B1] to secure the film.
4. To adjust the position of the film frame, repeat steps 1-3.
5. Follow the steps in the previous section for scanning using your digital camera
or smartphone.

PRECAUTIONS
Do not mount other devices or digital cameras onto the Smartphone Clamp [C6]
included with the DigitaLIZA Max packaging or damage may occur.
Remove the batteries when the Backlight Panel [B3] is not in use.
CARE AND WARRANTY
The Lomography DigitaLIZA+ and DigitaLIZA Max are covered by a two-year
warranty. During the two-year warranty, your product is covered against production
errors and material failures based on normal usage. In the event of a defect, the
Lomographic Society will repair or replace the item at our discretion. If you encounter
