3.3 Air pressure / adjustment of air flow
It is possible to set the ES10 to maintain a constant air pressure or a constant air flow.

This is done in setpoint menu no. 15. If this setpoint is set to ”0”, the ES10 will maintain a
constant air pressure (measured in Pa, Pascal). If the setpoint is set to ”1”, the ES10 will
maintain a constant air flow (measured in m/s, meter per sec).
The 3 operation mode setpoints described below changes automatically between Pa and
m/s depending on the selected operation mode.
ES10 comes with 4 different operation modes:
1) Off mode. The ES10 is off, and there is 0VDC on the motor output (cl12,13) and the
motor relay (cl16,17) is open. In off mode the alarm surveillance is not active.
2) Day mode. The ES10 is adjusting in accordance with the day mode setpoint. This is set
in setpoint menu no. 1. This setpoint is adjustable from 0Pa to 5000Pa (in air pressure
adjustment mode) or from 0.00m/s to 50.00m/s (in air flow adjustment mode).
The motor relay (cl16,17) is closed and the motor output (cl12,13) receives a voltage signal.
In day mode the alarm surveillance is active. See alarm description in section 3.4.
3) Night mode. The ES10 is adjusting in accordance with the night mode setpoint. This is
set in setpoint menu no. 2.
In night mode the alarm surveillance is active. See alarm description in section 3.4.
4) Max mode. The ES10 is adjusting according to the max mode setpoint. This is set in
setpoint menu no. 3.
In max mode the alarm surveillance is partially activated, as the surveillance does not alarm
at ”too low pressure”. See alarm description in section 3.4.
In setpoint menu no. 23 it is possible to set the max mode input (cl8,9) to operate inverted.
If this setpoint is set at 0, the ES10 goes into max mode if cl8,9 is shortened. If the setpoint
is set to 1, the function is inverted.

3.4 Alarm control
The ES10 is equipped with 3 different alarm modes:
1) Motor error alarm. If the connection between clamps 14 and 15 is disconneted, the
display will show ”ERROR! motor”, and the alarm relay will change state (Clamps 18, 19,

20). The pressure regulation continues as normal. If the motor error disappears (clamps 14
and 15 are connected), the motor error in the display will disappear automatically.
2) Pressure/flow alarm above setpoint. If the measured pressure/flow exceeds the desired
regulation setpoint plus an alarm threshold (pressure/ flow setpoint + alarm threshold), the
following alarm will be displayed ”ERROR! To high”, and the alarm relay will change state
(Clamps 18, 19, 20). The alarm threshold is set in setpoint menu no. 4. This setpoint is
adjustable from 0Pa to 1000Pa (In air pressure adjustment mode) or from 0.00m/s to
10.00m/s (in air flow adjustment mode). The alarm is, however, only activated if this
condition has been present for a given period of time. The alarm time is adjusted in setpoint
menu no. 5. The time can be set from 0 to 1000 sec. If the pressure/air flow falls below this
treshold again, the alarm will automatically be deactivated. See example in fig 3.1.
3) Pressure/air flow alarm below setpoint. If the measured pressure/ flow falls below the
desired regulation setpoint less an alarm threshold (pressure/air flow setpoint –alarm
threshold), the following alarm will be displayed ”ERROR! To low”, and the alarm relay will
change state (Clamps 18, 19, 20).The alarm threshold is set in setpoint menu no. 4. This
setpoint is adjustable from 0Pa to 1000Pa (in air pressure adjustment mode) or from
0.00m/s to 10.00m/s (in air flow adjustment mode). The alarm is, however, only activated if
this condition has been present for a given period of time. This alarm time is adjusted in
setpoint menu no. 5. The time is adjustable from 0 to 1000 sec. If the pressure/flow exceeds
this threshold again, the alarm will automatically be deactivated.
Fig 3.1.

3.5 Outdoor temperature compensation
The ES10 is equipped with an outdoor temperature compensation function. The outdoor
temperature is measured with a temperature sensor fitted in clamps 3, 4. The measuring
range of the sensor is -40,0 to +60,0C. The outdoor temperature compensation function is
activated by setting setpoint no. 6 in the setpoint menu to the value ”1”. If the outdoor
temperature falls below the outdoor temp. comp. max value (Setpoint no. 7 in the setpoint
menu is adjustable from -10C til +15C), the reduction of the pressure/flow setpoint will
start. This reduction will continue until the value temp comp min is reached (setpoint no. 8 in
the setpoint menu is adjustable from -25C to 0C). The size of the reduction is set in
setpoint no. 9 in the setpoint menu. This value is adjustable from 0Pa to 500Pa or from 0m/s
to 5.00m/s. Note that the outdoor temperature compensation only is active in day mode and
max mode, and not in night mode. See fig. 3.2.
Fig. 3.2.
3.6 Motor control
Connection. The ES10 has a 0-10VDC output (cl 12,13) for control of a frequency converter
or a triac controller. Furthermore the ES10 has a operation relay (cl 16,17), which will be
closed when the unit is in day, night or max mode operation. In case of an error message
from the frequency converter, the triac controller or the motor, the ES10 is equipped with an
error input on clamps 14 and 15. These clamps are to be shortened for fault free operation.
See section 3.4 for further information on alarm control. The current motor speed is
displayed in the main menu. See section 3.1.
Control signal. In setpoint menu no. 10 it is possible to set the max voltage on the 0-10VDC
output during operation. This setpoint is adjustable from 50% to 100% (50%=5,0VDC,
100%=10,0VDC). In setpoint menu no. 11 it is possible to see the min voltage on the 0-

10VDC output during operation. This setpoint is adjustable from 0% to 50% (0%=0,0VDC,
50%=5,0VDC).
Inverted operation. It is possible to invert the 0-10VDC output on the ES10, i.e. when the
requirement for air volume is low, the 0-10VDC output voltage is increased instead of
decreased. This is set in the setpoint menu no. 14. The value ”0” = Normal output, the value
”1” = Inverted output.
Frequency converter / Triac controller. The choice of frequency converter or triac controller
as motor controller is set in the setpoint menu no. 16. The value ”0” = Frequency converter,
the value ”1” = Triac controller. If ”triac controller” is selected in setpoint menu no. 16, the
setpoint menu no. 17 must be adjusted. In this setpoint the size of the sudden pressure
increases that may occur in the ventilation system are to be set. This value is adjustable
from 0 to 1000Pa or from 0.00m/s to 10.00m/s.
3.7 Pressure or flow transducer
Standard. The ES10 is able to control air pressure or air flow by means of the associated air
pressure or air flow transducer. This transducer is fitted on clamp 5 (0VDC), clamp 6
(+24VDC), and clamp 7 (0-10VCD pressure/air flow input).
An optional pressure transducer ES11 is available as accessory to the ES10. If the ES11 is
used, it is not necessary to adjust the setpoints concerning the pressure sensor as these
have been set at the factory. The measuring range of the ES11 is 0Pa to 500Pa.
Other transducers. If a different air pressure or air flow transducer is chosen, the setpoint
menu no. 12 and no. 13 are to be set. In setpoint menu no. 12, the pressure or airflow which
the chosen sensor measures, is adjusted when the sensor output is 10VDC. This setpoint is
adjustable from 0Pa to 5000Pa or from 0.00m/s to 50.00m/s. Example: If a pressure
transducer at an output of 10VDC measures 500Pa, then 500Pa must be entered in the
setpoint menu no. 12.
In setpoint menu no. 13, the voltage output of the air pressure or the air flow transducer at
0Pa respectively 0m/s is adjusted. This setpoint is adjustable from 0.0V to 10.0V.
Example: If a pressure transducer measures 0Pa at 1.0V. This value must be entered in
setpoint menu no. 13.
3.8 Language
The menu language is available in Danish and English. The language is set in setpoint
menu no. 18. Value ”0” = Danish and value ”1” = English.
3.9 PID controller
Air pressure or air flow adjustment is controlled by a PID controller. The PID controller is
equipped with 4 setpoints in the setpoint menu.
1) Setpoint no. 19. PID KP. The amplification of the PID controller.
2) Setpoint no. 20. PID TI. The integration time of the PID controller.
3) Setpoint no. 21. PID H. The sampling time of the PID controller.

4) Setpoint no. 22. The adjustment frequency in seconds of the PID controller.
3.10 Factory settings
The ES10 can be reset to factory settings in setpoint menu no. 24. Set the value to ”1” and
press enter. The unit will now return to factory settings and restart. See section 4 for factory
setting values.
