This document outlines the main changes for the G66D firmware maintenance release version. These
changes are a combination of customer reported issues and enhancements found via HP internal testing.

Enhancements
In this code release, the Drive Error LED is turned on when a DSP fault 0x7708 (Actuator Stroke Size
Too Small) occurs.
Fixes
Drive hangs
This code introduces improvements for hangs which could occur during writing operation.
Read/space issues
•This code version introduces improvements in the logical positioning function to cater for the rare
occasions where non-inquiry fast commands are aborted.
•This code revision introduces improvements in reading tapes written by non-HP drives. Those
improvements are an additional read retry and a change to an existing read retry algorithm, as
wellasintheformofmoreoptimizeddrivetuning.
•This code version introduces improvements in spacing/positioning operations for corner case
scripts which use very large record sizes. In cases where 1Mb/2Mb records were written and
2Mb/4Mb reads were requested, possible mispositioning errors are eliminated.
This code introduces improvements for hangs which could occur during writing operation.
Write issues
This code introduces improvements in the DSP tape expansion and tape tilt algorithms, to help in several
situations, such as when thermal events occur.
Cartridge, cartridge memory and MAM
This code version introduces a feature to avoid any unnecessary warning messages from an LTO-4
compliant software application.
