Congratulations on your purchase of a new Dial-A-Watt Lumatek electronic ballast
The Dial-A-Watt technology inside your ballast gives you the following four advantages:
1. Multi-Wattage - Now you can power different wattage lamps on the same ballast. Depending on
which model Dial-A-Watt Lumatek ballast you have, you can use up to three different wattages of lamps.
The list below details which wattage lamps can be used on each model:

2. Dimmable - Dial-A-Watt Lumatek ballasts are capable of being dimmed. Dimming can be a great way
to deal with heat issues in your garden. When dimming a lamp, it is important to remember that you can
only go down in wattage. For example, a 1,OOOWlamp can be dimmed to 7SOW,but you cannot
increase the power of a 7S0W lamp to 1,000W. Do not run your lamps higher than their rated wattage.
Doing so could severely damage your lamp.
3. Super Lumens - Up to 10% more light at the turn of a dial. The Super Lumens feature can only be used
with the highest rated wattage lamp for your ballast. For example, if you have a 1,000W Dial-A-Watt
Lumatek, the Super Lumens setting can only be used with a 1,OOOWlamp. Using the Super Lumens
setting with a lower wattage lamp could damage your lamp. On the 400W Dial-A-Watt Lumatek there
are two Super Lumens settings; one for a 2S0W lamp and one for a 400W lamp.
4. Go Green - With each setting on your Dial-A-Watt Lumatek ballast,
both the input and output power
change
This is a great feature if you want to save energy when your plants are young and you need less
light. A 1,OOOWDial-A-Watt Lumatek ballast at the 7S0W setting uses 2S% less electricity than it would
at 1,000W.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
The following is a list of troubleshooting steps to follow if you are having issues with your ballast. If all of the trouble shooting techniques fail please bring your
ballast back to your place of purchase to request warranty service.
HID LAMP WILL NOT START
POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE
LAMP LOOSE IN SOCKET Screw lamp firmly into socket. Make sure the tab inside the socket makes proper contact with the base of the
lamp. Iflamp will not seat properly replace the socket.
INCORRECT VOLTAGE Make sure you are using the correct input vo Itage with ballast. If using incorrect voltage disconnect the ballast
from the power source immediately.
DEFECTIVE OR IMPROPER WIRING Examine wiring to ensure it agrees with wiring diagrams on ballast label. Check connections to see that they
are secure. If wiring a 240V ballast do not use a neutral. The correct wiring is two hot wires and a ground.
POOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS Check wiring and lamp contact with socket. Make sure the lamp cord is firmly seated in output receptacle.
INCORRECT LAMP Verify that you are using the proper wattage lamp with ballast. Do not use a lamp manufactured according to
European or Asian specifications as they will not provide consistent performance.
LAMP DAMAGE Investigate possibility of outer bulb damage, particularly where glass meets base. Lamps may have been
twisted too firmly into socket. Look for broken arc tubes or loose metal parts. Replace lamp.
If lamp will not start reset the breaker by pressing the white button located on the input side of the ballast.
BREAKER If your breaker trips on your ballast you must disconnect the ballast from the power source before you reset the
breaker on the ballast.

Lumatek Digital BallastInformation
Thank you for purchasing a Lumatek' Digital Ballast.
We are certain you will be more than satisfied for years to come.
IMPORTANT
ENSURE YOU USE THE PROPER WATTAGE LAMP
The new Lumatek dual-voltage ballasts are capable of
running on either 120V or 240V. Lumatek's dual-voltage
ballasts were specifically designed to be run on generators
or in areas where line-voltage fluctuations are common.
Lumatek ballasts are now internally RF shielded and can
be used with most manufacturers' cord-sets via the
common outlet. Our ballasts produce the least amount of
EMI (electro-magnetic interference) of any electronic
ballast.
New Lumatek ballasts are protected from voltage surges
by an external breaker system. If a ballast fails to start
reset the breakers by pressing in the white buttons located
above the input power receptacle. If the ballast still does
not work please see troubleshooting guide on reverse
side.
All Lumatek ballasts come wired with our standard
female lamp cord receptacle that accepts our proprietary,
patented male lamp cord, making these units compatible
with all Sun System® reflectors. Purchase lamp cord with
socket assembly separately.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Hot Restrike - It is VERY important that the lamp is given
adequate time to cool down before it is reignited. You should
allow a hot lamp to cool for 20-30 minutes before you try to
re-strike it. Hot re-strikes cause premature lamp failure and
lumen output degradation. Additionally, the lamp should
never be turned off before the lamp reaches full intensity.
HPSIMH - Lumatek ballasts operate both metal halide and
high pressure sodium lamps. They will not light mercury
vapor lamps which are commonly sold in hardware and some
hydroponic stores. Please note that the 750W ballast is HPS
only
Lamp Replacement - Be sure to disconnect the power
source before changing lamps. Always use the specified
wattage of lamp. (A 400W halide lamp should not be used in
a 600W ballast). Lumatek recommends lamp replacement
every 6-12 months.
Lamp Recommendations - Lumatek ballasts were designed
to provide superior performance with lamps manufactured to
American specifications. There are several brands of lamps
available on the U.S. market that were made according to
European specifications. We do not recommend using these
types of lamps since they will provide inconsistent
performance with your ballast.
Mounting Location- Do not install ballasts in areas of high
heat such as an attic or a closed closet. Do not mount the
ballast to the reflector or blow exhaust air over them. Do not
stack ballast on top of each other. Do not allow contact with
water. Mount units at least six inches apart. If a unit has any
leaking resin please relocate to a cooler area or place a fan near
the ballasts.
