INSTRUCTION MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Luvion® Icon Long Range baby monitor. From now on you can
always hear your baby. Make sure you always keep your original proof of purchase. For warranty
cases you will always be asked to show a copy of your proof of purchase. For warranty claims you
can contact the Luvion dealer or the local Luvion representative. More information can be found
at www.luvion.com. This manual contains all the information you need, to be able to use this
Luvion Icon Long Range baby monitor safely and with pleasure. Before using the baby monitor,
we recommend that you read this manual carefully. We ask for your extra attention for the safety
instructions.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Keep the adapter cable out of the reach of children!
NEVER place the baby monitor or adapters within 1.5 meters of the crib / bed or a play-
ground.
• Keep in mind that the signal of your baby monitor may also be heard by other 446 MHz
baby monitors, walkie-talkies or receivers than yours.
• Use only the originally supplied adapters. Use only on standard (100 ~ 240 volts AC) power
points.
• If you travel abroad, check the voltage on your unit’s plugs match the local power output.
• This product is not a toy. Don’t let children play with it.
• The baby monitor is not suitable for use as a medical surveillance monitor.
• The baby monitor is not a substitute for parental supervision.
• Do not use the baby monitor in a damp environment or near water, such as in the bath-
room, kitchen, laundry room or wet basement, etc.
• It is important to  rst check the range and condition of the baby monitor before  rst use
and then on a regular basis.
• Test the connection well when the baby monitor is moved.
• Use the baby monitor at a temperature between 10 °C and 40 °C, do not place the baby
monitor in direct sunlight or at other heat sources such as radiators, candles, gas cooker, etc.
Ensure there is suffi cient ventilation space around the baby monitor.
• Never dismantle the parent or baby unit yourself, this invalidates the warranty. This must be
done by certi ed personnel, contact the seller of the local distributor for this.
• Only replace the batteries with original Luvion batteries of the same type. Using the wrong
batteries may damage your baby monitor.
• Make sure that the parent unit is fully charged on  rst use. This guarantees an optimum
battery life.
• The use of this baby monitor is permitted in all countries of the EU. When bringing the Icon
Long Range with you to countries outside the EU,  rst check the local restrictions on the use
of PMR446 equipment in the concerning country.
• Never use the baby monitor during thunderstorms.
• The Icon Long Range may not be used for any other purpose than for the detection of
sounds within your own private surroundings; anybody that is or may be present in the
room you’re listening to much be informed of the installed baby monitor.

SETUP & USE
1. PLACEMENT
1.1 Place the Baby unit in a wall socket that cannot be reached by your baby or child.
Keep the Baby and parent unit outside direct sunlight and humid areas.
1.2 Installation Baby unit
1. Plug the Baby unit into A 230V wall socket and the baby unit switches on immedi-
ately.
2. To Switch the Baby unit off : Unplug the baby unit or hold down the menu button.
1.3 Installation Parent unit
The Parent unit is powered by the included rechargeable battery cells. For  rst time
use, charge the battery for at least 12 hours.
Only use the supplied battery cells and the supplied power adaptor.
1. Insert a  at screwdriver or a coin into the bottom of the battery door cap of the
parent unit.
2. Lift the battery cover as show on the  gure.
3. Insert the battery cells into the unit, paying attention to the + and -.
4. Place the battery cover onto the parent unit and make sure to  rmly close it.
Note: The Parent unit is still useable when the unit is connected to a power adapter. You
may also leave the adaptor connected continuously, the charging voltage is controlled
electronically to avoid any risk of overcharging.
1.4 Connecting parent unit to the power adapter for charging
1. Connect the power adaptor to the parent unit and plug the other end of the adap-
tor into a wall socket.
2. The battery cells are fully charged after 12 hours.
3. You can unplug the power adaptor and use it cordlessly when the batteries are

charged.
4. As soon as the battery runs out of power, every 30 seconds 2 short beeps are emit-
ted. Connect the adaptor to recharge the batteries.
2. HOW TO USE
2 .1 Baby unit
1. Hold down the menu button(3) to power the Baby unit on or off .
2.2 Parent unit
Before switching on, make sure the Parent and Baby unit are at least one metre from
each other. Any closer and you might get audio feedback sounds.
1. Press a few seconds on the power button (10) to power on and off the parent unit.
2.3 Channel and Sub-Code
Make sure the Parent unit and the Baby units are set to the same channel and Sub-code
(see chapter 4.3).
3. USINGYOUR LUVION ICON LONG RANGE BABY MONITOR
3.1 Listening to your baby
1. As soon as the Baby units detects any sound, it transmits this sound to the parent
unit. The display on the baby unit shows ‘TX’ while it is transmitting.
2. As soon as the Parent unit receives this signal, the speaker is enabled and you will
hear the sound from the baby room. ‘RX’ appears on the display of the parent unit
while receiving.
3.2 Volume
1. Repeatedly and brie y press the button on the Parent unit to increase the
volume.
2. Repeatedly and brie y press the button on the Parent unit to decrease the
volume.
3. The volume level is indicated on the display.
Note: While setting the volume a high tone is emitted. Upon reaching the minimum or
maximum volume, a low tone is emitted.
3.3 Nightlight
1. Brie y press the or button on the Baby unit to switch on the nightlight
on the Baby unit.
2. Brie y press the

Note: When the nightlight is on, the display lighting of the Baby unit is switched on, but
the display shows no further information. Only the nightlight icon is illuminated. While the
nightlight is on, it is not possible to adjust any settings in the menu.
3.4 Flashlight
1. Brie y press the button on the Parent unit to switch the  ashlight on (9).
2. Brie y press the button again to switch the  ashlight off (9).
Note: The ashlight only works when the Parent unit is switched on.

4. SETUP
4.1 Baby unit
Menu  ow goes as follows for the baby unit once you push the menu button:
Channel & Sub-code > VOX Sensitivity > Auto Monitor > Exit menu
On the Baby unit, the following settings can be adjusted:
• Send channel: this is the frequency at which the baby unit transmits. You can
choose from channel 1 ~ channel 8.
• Sub code: this option adds an extra code to the signal allowing you to only listen
to your baby unit without interference from other transmitters on the same fre-
quency.
• VOX: This allows you to determine how loud the baby must cry before the baby
units starts transmitting to the parent unit. At VOX setting 1 the baby must cry
loudly before the sound is transmitted to the parent unit. At VOX setting 4 also
(very) soft baby sounds are transmitted. It will require some experimenting to  nd
your ideal VOX level.
• Auto monitor: see chapter 5.3 of this manual for the description of this function.
1. Insert the Baby unit into wall socket.
2. Brie y press the button and use the or button to set the send channel.
3. Brie y press the button and use the or button to set the send sub code.
4. Brie y press the button and use the or button to set the send the VOX

4.2 Additional Baby Unit #2 or #3
Use a diff erent channel for each Baby unit when using 2 or 3 baby units. The other set-
tings can be freely adjusted.
4.3 Parent Unit
You set up the parent unit as follows:

Note: If you indicate that there is no Baby unit 1 in step 1, then you will go to step 4 directly
when pressing the menu button. If you indicate that there is no baby unit 2 in step 4, then
go to step 10 when pressing the menu button.
5. OPERATION
5.1 Baby Unit
For as long as the baby is sleeping and the baby unit is not picking up any sound, no
signal is transmitted to the parent unit nor will the parent unit emit any sound.
As soon as the baby starts making sound and the level of this sound exceeds the VOX
sensitivity you have set, the baby unit will starts transmitting the sound to the parent
unit.
For as long as the baby is making sound, the baby unit will keep sending this sound to
the parent unit. However because of legal requirements, transmitters on this frequency
may not transmit longer than 3 minutes continuously. This is why the Baby unit takes
a 5 seconds pause after 3 minutes of continuous transmissions and will then start
transmitting again.
5.2 Parent unit
When the Parent unit is receiving the signal from the Baby unit, the speaker is enabled
and you will be able to hear the baby sounds.
If the Parent unit is set to monitor multiple baby units, the parent unit switches be-
tween baby unit every second. The is indicated in the display by the alternating icons

When one of the babies starts making sound, the parent unit stops alternation
between baby units. The parent unit will now let you listen to the noise-making baby
continuously.
5.3 Auto monitor
If you have enabled the ‘Auto Monitor’ function at the baby unit(s), the microphone
of the baby unit switches on every 5 minutes for 10 seconds long, also when the baby
is sleeping quietly. This gives you an extra assurance that your baby is still sleeping
peacefully.
5.4 Connection check
Each minute the baby unit sends a connection check in the background to the par-
ent unit. You cannot hear this signal, but you can verify that the baby unit sends this
signal because ‘TX’ will be brie y illuminated in the upper left corner of the baby unit’s
display. The parent unit receives this signal to verify whether that baby unit is enabled
and still within range. If the parent unit does not receive this check signal for 3 minutes,
the parent unit starts emitting 2 short alert beeps every minute while the icon
starts  ashing on the display of the parent unit.

When using 2 or 3 baby units:
If for example the connection with baby unit 2 is lost, the following starts alternating in

If you have selected the value OFF for the option during the setup of the Parent
unit (i.e. no connection check), the Baby unit will still transmit the check signal every
minute, but the parent unit will not indicate that the signal is being received.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Troubleshooting
Doesn’t work • The batteries of the parent unit are exhausted,
recharge or replace it.
• The baby unit is not (properly) connected to
a wall socketor the wall socket isn’t live, check
this.
Poor or no reception • The channel setting or sub code set incorrectly
(the sender and receiver must be set to the
same channel, with the same sub code)
• The distance between the baby unit and par-
ent unit is too large, decrease the distance
White noise or other noises • Another sender is present, change the channel
• Interference from other devices, switch the
other devices off (if possible)
High whistle • The parent unit is too close to the baby unit or
the volume of the parent unit is set too high,
increase the distance or lower the volume
Always first check whether the Luvion® Icon Long Range is functioning on a different
location.
If the problem isn’t solved, first remove the Baby unit from the wall socket and then re-
move the batteries from the Parent unit. Reconnect everything after a minute.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
Only clean the baby monitor with a dry cloth. Remove the Baby unit from the wall socket before
cleaning. Prevent water, dust and/or sand from penetrating the units. Any modi cations of the
electronics or antenna of the Baby unit are prohibited. Service may only be performed by techni-
cians quali ed to do so.
DISPOSAL OF PRODUCT & BATTERIES
This product may not be discarded as normal household waste at the end of its life
span. You must bring it to a collection point for recycling of electric and electronic devices.
This is indicated by the display symbol on the product and in this manual. Exhausted bat-
teries can be returned to the supplier of this baby monitor or you may bring them to your

local depot for small chemical waste. Never discard empty batteries as regular household
waste.

INTRODUCTIE
Hartelijk dank voor de aanschaf van de Luvion® Icon Long Range babyfoon. Vanaf nu kun je
jouw baby altijd horen. Zorg ervoor dat je altijd uw originele aankoopbewijs bewaart. Voor
garantiegevallen zal je altijd gevraagd worden om een kopie van uw aankoopbewijs te tonen.
Voor garantiegevallen kun je contact opnemen met de Luvion dealer, of met de lokale Luvion
vertegenwoordiger. Meer informatie kun je vinden op www.luvion.com. Deze handleiding bevat
alle nodige informatie om veilig en met plezier gebruik te kunnen maken van deze Luvion Long
Range babyfoon. Voordat je de babyfoon gebruikt adviseren wij je deze handleiding aandachtig
door te lezen. Wij vragen je extra aandacht voor de veiligheidsinstructies.
VEILIGHEIDSINSTRUCTIES
• WAARSCHUWING: VERSTIKKINGSGEVAAR - Houd de adapterkabels buiten het bereik
van kinderen! NOOIT de babyfoon of adapters binnen 1,5 meter van de wieg/bed of een
speelplaats plaatsen.
• Let op dat het signaal van uw babyfoon ook door andere 446 MHz babyfoons, portofoons of
ontvangers dan de uwe gehoord kan worden.
• Gebruik alleen de oorspronkelijk meegeleverde adapters. Alleen gebruiken op standaard
(100~240 volts AC) stopcontacten.
• Als je naar het buitenland reist, controleer dan of het voltage op de stekkers van uw appa-
raat overeenkomt met het lokale vermogen.
• Dit product is geen speelgoed. Laat kinderen er niet mee spelen.
• De babyfoon niet geschikt voor gebruik als medische bewakingsmonitor.
• De babyfoon is geen vervanging van ouderlijk toezicht.
• Gebruik de babyfoon niet in een vochtige omgeving of nabij water, zoals in de badkamer,
keuken, wasruimte of vochtige kelder, etc.
• Dit product is alleen geschikt voor gebruik binnenshuis.
• Het is belangrijk voor het eerste gebruik en vervolgens op regelmatige basis het bereik en
de staat van de babyfoon goed te controleren.
• Test het bereik goed wanneer de babyfoon wordt verplaatst.
• Gebruik de babyfoon bij een temperatuur tussen 10°C en 40°C, plaats de babyfoon niet in
direct zonlicht of bij andere warmtebronnen zoals radiatoren, kaarsen, gasfornuis etc. Zorg
voor voldoende ventilatieruimte rondom de babyfoon.
• Demonteer nooit zelf de ouder- of babyunit hiermee vervalt de garantie. Dit dient door
gekwali ceerd personeel te gebeuren, neem hiervoor contact op met de verkoper of locale
distributeur.
• Vervang de batterijen alleen door originele Luvion batterijen van hetzelfde type. Gebruik
van verkeerde batterijen kan de babyfoon beschadigen.
• Zorg ervoor dat bij het eerste gebruik de ouder unit volledig is opgeladen. Dit garandeert
een optimale levensduur van de batterijen.
• Het gebruik van deze babyfoon is toegestaan in alle landen van de EU. Als je de Icon Long
Range wilt meenemen naar landen buiten de EU, informeer dan eerst naar de plaatselijke
beperkingen van het gebruik van PMR446 apparatuur aldaar.
• Tijdens een onweersbui de babyfoon nooit buiten gebruiken.
• De Luvion Icon Long Range mag nergens anders voor gebruikt worden dan voor het
detecteren van geluiden binnen uw eigen private omgeving; een ieder die zich in de af
te luisteren ruimte bevindt of kan bevinden, dient op de hoogte te zijn van de geplaatste
babyfoon.

INSTALLATIE & GEBRUIK
1. PLAATSING
1.1 Plaats de babyunit in een stopcontact waar uw baby of kindje niet bij kan komen.
Plaats de babyunit en de ouder-unit nooit in direct zonlicht en niet op een vochtige
plaats.
1.2 Installatie Babyunit
1. Steek de baby unit in een 230v stopcontact en de babyunit schakelt direct in.
2. Haal de babyunit uit het stopcontact of druk op de menutoets om deze uit te
schakelen.
1.3 Installatie Ouderunit
De ouderunit wordt gevoed door de meegeleverde oplaadbare batterijen.
Laad de batterijen voor het eerste gebruik minimaal 12 uur op.
Gebruik alleen de meegeleverde batterijen en de meegeleverde
voedingsadapter
1. Gebruik een platte schroeven-draaier of een muntstuk om het batterijdeksel van
de ouderunit af te halen.
2. Verwijder het batterijdeksel op zoals weergegeven op de afbeelding.
3. Plaats de batterijen in de unit. Let hierbij op de + en -.
4. Plaats het batterijdeksel terug op de ouder unit en druk deze stevig dicht..
Let op: De ouderunit is nog steeds bruikbaar als de unit is aangesloten op een
voedingsadapter. Je kan de adapter ook continu aangesloten laten, omdat de
laadspanning elektronisch wordt geregeld om elk risico op overladen te voorkomen.
1.4 Ouderunit aansluiten op de voedingsadapter om op te laden
1. Sluit de voedingsadapter aan op de ouder unit en steek het andere uiteinde van
de adapter in het stopcontact.
2. Na 12 uur laden zijn de batterijen volledig opgeladen.

3. Als de batterijen volledig opgeladen zijn, kun je de voedingsadapter loskoppelen
en de ouderunit draadloos gebruiken.
4. Zodra de batterijen leeg raken, klinken er elke 30 seconden 2 korte pieptonen.
Sluit nu de adapter aan om de batterijen weer op te laden.
2. GEBRUIK
2 .1 Babyunit
1. Druk een paar seconden op de menuknop (3) om de babyunit aan en uit te zetten.
2.2 Parent unit
Zorg ervoor dat de ouderunit en de babyunit ten minste één meter van elkaar verwi-
jderd zijn voordat je de apparaten inschakelt. Als deze dichter bij elkaar zijn, krijg je
mogelijk audiofeedbackgeluiden.
1. Druk een paar seconden op de aan/uit-knop (10) om de ouderunit aan of uit te
zetten.
2.3 Kanaal en Sub-Code
Zorg ervoor dat de ouderunit en de babyunit op hetzelfde kanaal en dezelfde subcode
zijn ingesteld (zie hoofdstuk 4.3).

3.1 Naar je baby luisteren
1. Zodra de babyunit geluid waarneemt, geeft hij dit geluid door aan de ouder-
unit. In het display van de baby-unit wordt ‘TX’ weergegeven terwijl deze aan het
zenden is.
2. Zodra de ouderunit dit signaal ontvangt, wordt de speaker ingeschakeld en hoor
je het geluid uit de babykamer. Tijdens ontvangst verschijnt ‘RX’ in het display van
de ouderunit.
3.2 Volume
1. Druk herhaaldelijk en kort op de knop op de ouderunit om het volume te
verhogen.

3. Het ingestelde volumeniveau wordt in het display weergegeven.
Let op: Tijdens het instellen van het volume klinkt een hoge toon. Bij het bereiken van het
minimum of maximum volume klinkt een lage toon.
3.3 Nachtlampje
1. Druk op de babyunit kort op de of knop om het nachtlampje op de baby-
unit aan te zetten.
2. Druk nogmaals op de babyunit kort op de of knop om het nachtlampje uit
te zetten.
Let op: Als het nachtlampje aan staat, is de display-verlichting van de babyunit inge-
schakeld maar wordt hier verder geen informatie weergegeven. Als het nachtlampje aan
staat, is het niet mogelijk om instellingen in het menu aan te passen.

3.4 Zaklamp

4. SETUP
4.1 Baby unit
Het menu verloopt als volgt op de babyunit zodra je op de menuknop drukt:
Channel & Sub-code > VOX Sensitivity > Auto Monitor > Exit menu
Bij de babyunit kun je de volgende instellingen wijzigen:
• Send channel: dit is de frequentie waar de babyunit op uitzendt. Je kan kiezen uit
kanaal 1 ~ kanaal 8.
• Sub code: hiermee voeg je een extra code aan het signaal toe waardoor alleen jij
naar je babyunit luistert en het signaal niet verstoord wordt door andere zenders
op dezelfde frequentie. Je kan kiezen uit subcode 1 ~ subcode 20.
• VOX: hiermee stel je in bij hoeveel geluid van de baby, de babyunit moet gaan
zenden naar de ouderunit. Bij VOX-instelling 1 moet de baby hard huilen voordat
het geluid naar de ouderunit gestuurd wordt. Bij VOX instelling 4 worden ook hele
zachte geluiden van de baby doorgestuurd. Bepaal door te experimenteren met
de VOX instellingen het ideale VOX niveau.
• Auto monitor: zie hoofdstuk 5.3 van deze handleiding voor de beschrijving van
deze functie.

te stellen.

4.2 Extra Babyunit #2 of #3
Gebruik voor elke babyunit een ander kanaal bij gebruik van 2 of 3 baby-units. De
overige instellingen kunnen vrij worden aangepast.
4.3 Ouder Unit
Je stelt de Ouderunit als volgt in:
1. Druk kort op de AAN/UIT knop (10) om het setup menu te openen, 1 verschijnt
in het display (dit geeft aan dat je de settings voor Babyunit 1 aan gaat passen).

Let op: Als je bij stap 1 aangeeft dat je babyunit 1 niet aan wil sluiten, dan ga je direct naar

sluiten, dan ga je direct naar stap 7 als je op de menuknop drukt, Als je bij stap 7 aangeeft
dat je geen babyunit 3 aan wil sluiten, dan ga je direct naar stap 9 als je op de menuknop
drukt.
5. WERKING
5.1 Babyunit
Zolang de baby slaapt en de babyunit geen geluid opvangt, wordt er geen signaal naar
de ouderunit gestuurd en zal de ouder unit ook geen geluid uitzenden.
Zodra de baby geluid begint te maken en het niveau van dit geluid de door jou in-
gestelde VOX-gevoeligheid overschrijdt, begint de babyunit het geluid door te geven
aan de ouderunit. Dit geluid hoor je nu via de ouderunit.
Zolang de baby geluid maakt, blijft de babyunit dit geluid naar de ouder unit sturen.
Vanwege wettelijke vereisten mogen zenders op deze frequentie echter niet langer
dan 3 minuten aaneengesloten zenden. Daarom neemt de babyunit een pauze van 5
seconden na 3 minuten continu zenden en begint dan weer te zenden.
5.2 Ouderunit
Wanneer de ouderunit het signaal van de babyunit ontvangt, wordt de luidspreker
ingeschakeld en kun je het geluid dat de baby maakt horen. Als de ouderunit op
meerdere babyunits is aangesloten, dan schakelt de ouder unit elke seconde tussen de
babyunits. Dit wordt in het display aangegeven door de afwisselende icoontjes

Zodra een van de baby’s geluid begint te maken, stopt de ouderunit met het schakelen
tussen de babyunits. De ouderunit laat je nu continu naar de baby luisteren die geluid
maakt. Ondertussen blijft de ouderunit iedere minuut 5 seconden naar de andere

babyunits luisteren. Als deze babies ook geluid beginnen te maken, dan schakelt de
ouderunit weer tussen alle babyunits die geluid oppikken zodat je naar alle babies kunt
luisteren.
5.3 Auto monitor
Als je de functie ‘Auto Monitor’ op de babyunit(s) hebt ingeschakeld, dan gaat de
microfoon van de babyunit elke 5 minuten 10 seconden lang aan, ook als de baby geen
geluid maakt. Dit geeft je een extra zekerheid dat de baby unit nog goed werkt en je
baby rustig slaapt.
5.4 Connectie check
Elke minuut stuurt de babyunit in de achtergrond een controlesignaal naar de ouder-
unit. Je kan dit signaal niet horen, maar je kan controleren of de babyunit dit signaal
verzendt, doordat ‘TX’ kort oplicht in het display van de babyunit.
De ouderunit ontvangt dit signaal om te controleren of de baby unit goed werkt en of
de connectie nog steeds goed is.
Als de ouderunit dit controlesignaal gedurende 3 minuten niet ontvangt, begint de
ouderunit elke minuut 2 korte waarschuwingspiepjes af te geven terwijl begint te
knipperen in het het display van de ouderunit.
Bij gebruik van 2 of 3 babyunits:

zal de babyunit nog wel iedere minuut een connectie check signaal naar de ouderunit
sturen, maar de ouder unit geeft het niet aan als het signaal gedurende 3 minuten niet
ontvangen wordt.
PROBLEEM & OPLOSSING
Probleem & Oplossing
Werkt niet • De batterijen van de ouder unit zijn leeg, laad
deze op of vervang deze.
• De babyunit is niet (goed) aangesloten op
een stopcontact of het stopcontact werkt niet,

Slecht of geen bereik • Het kanaalnummer of de subcode is onjuist
