We must assume that you, your employees and others who use or come
into contact with the machine are familiar with how the machine should
be utilized. This specifically pertains to the proper use, maintenance and
repair of the machine as described in this user manual. This also means
that employees should be qualified to use machinery through training or
experience.
It is required that the user of this product has followed a training for the
correct use of this product. Trainings are provided by MAGIC FX.

4. FOREWORD
This manual provides pertinent information about the MAGICFX® CO2 Dominator. The information in
this manual is important with respect to the proper and safe operation of the CO2 Dominator. If you
are not familiar with the installation, operation, preventive maintenance, etc., of the CO2 Dominator
then read this manual in its entirety. MAGIC FX also urges all new users (operators, installers,
maintenance staff and possibly cleaning staff) to receive training on the equipment using this manual
as the basis for the training.
MAGIC FX recommends you keep the original of this manual and its attachments in a secure central
location, and, keep another copy of this manual close to the workplace where the CO2 Dominator will
be used.
If you are well acquainted with the proper handling of the equipment then keep this manual handy for
reference.
The following conventions are used in this manual to draw your attention to specific information or
actions.

in an easier or more convenient way.

5. INTRODUCTION
5.1 DESCRIPTION OF THE CO2 DOMINATOR AND ITS USAGE
The CO2 Dominator is a device specifically designed for producing cryogenic fog plumes as a special
effect on a stage. The CO2 Dominator is intended solely to be placed on a flat surface or stage and
produce brief upward cryogenic fog plumes of CO2.
Should you use the equipment in any way other than just described then you release your supplier
from all liability.
The CO2 Dominator has 5 output pipes which can be installed in different directions. The CO2
Dominator is DMX controllable. One address is used as a safety channel and five other addresses to
control every output individually.
The CO2 Dominator has a large number of safety features and components that are discussed later in
this manual. Read this manual carefully in its entirety before you start working with the CO2
Dominator.

6. SAFETY
6.1 INTRODUCTION
The CO2 Dominator is designed and constructed so that it can be used in a safe manner. Specifically,
this refers to the usage, situations, and prescriptions for the device as described in this
documentation. It is the responsibility of all persons authorized to use the CO2 Dominator to read and
follow the instructions in this manual.
The CO2 Dominator should be located and used in an environment that preferably:
- Has a fairly constant temperature between 0 and 30ºC.
- Has a relative humidity not exceeding a maximum of 75%.
- Is reasonably free of dust, corrosive gases, and high concentrations of organic vapors.
- Does not contain any source of vibrations in the environment.
6.2 GENERAL SAFETY RULES
Ensure that the CO2 Dominator is not accessible to children, unauthorized persons, or animals!
Do not touch the CO2 Dominator when it is operational or turned on. Even if the device is not in
operation it might be ready to activate.
Safety devices must not be removed or rendered inoperative.
All required safety devices should be in good working order and functioning properly.
Ensure that there is adequate lighting in the environment.
Keep the workplace clean.
Only authorized persons may work with the CO2 Dominator.
6.3 WARNINGS
There are several warnings displayed on the CO2 Dominator to which the following restrictions apply:
The text must not be removed or otherwise spoilt. The operator should regularly check that the
warnings are in good condition.
The operator must ensure that the text is always visible and legible and that it remains so.
DANGER WARNING:
Any missing, damaged, or illegible text or icons must be replaced.

9. PREPARATION FOR USE
Unpack the CO2 Dominator. Dispose of packaging material without causing harm to the environment.
Check the device for any possible damage. You must report any damage to the device to MAGIX FX.

10. INSTALLING
CAUTION:
This indicates that the equipment may be damaged if procedures are not
carried out in the proper manner.
DANGER WARNING:
The MAGICFX® CO2 Dominator may only be installed by authorized
adults.
Prepare the CO2 Dominator for use as follows:
Make sure the on / off switch is in 'off'
position and then connect the power
cable. The CO2 Dominator works on 230V
~ 50/60Hz. You need a powercon cable to
connect the CO2 Dominator to a 230V
powersource. The CO2 Dominator is also
equipped with a PowerCon out connector.
This allows you to link multiple units in 1
line.

Place the CO2 Dominator on a flat and
stable surface.

Now connect the CO2 high pressure
hoses of 2m to the CO2 bottles.
Connect the bottle adapters tightly by
hand or use a wrench is necessary.

Place the CO2 cylinders (liquid carbon
dioxide with dip-pipe) on a flat and stable
surface.
Place the cylinders in a position so that
the opening of the valve is not in the
direction of persons, animals or objects.
Place the CO2 cylinders preferably
outside or in an area with good
ventilation and a CO2 detection system.
CO2 cylinders are pressurized containers.
Secure them by certified bottle brackets
with chains to prevent tipping of the
bottles.

Connect a 3 pin DMX cable to theCO2
Dominator.
If preffered you can connect a next unit
by connecting another 3 pin DMX cable to
the DMX out connector.
Connect the other side of the DMX cable
(the male plug) to a professional DMX
controller.
Always make sure that the DMX controller
will be placed on a position from where the
operator can see theCO2 Dominator.
Check the manual of your DMX controller for
instructions and the save use of it.

Now that the CO2 Dominator is connected
well and safely, the machine can be
installed.
Carefelly read the user manual of your DMX
controller.
Press ‘ ’ to start installation.

Push the Power Switch in the ONN
position to switch on the CO2 Dominator.

Now connect the 3/4’’ CO2 high pressure
hose to the distribution block and make
sure it is connected well.

Connect the other side of the hoses to the
CO2 distribution block.

11. USAGE

The CO2 Dominator may only be operated if all parts are entire and in
good working order and properly connected/installed.
U will see the Channel of CO2 1 flashing.

Operate the CO2 Dominator as follows:
To start using the CO2 Dominator and
produce CO2 fog plumes, push the flash
buttons of the channels.
Make sure that the area around the CO2
Dominator will be free of persons, animals
and objects before using.
Keep clear sight on the CO2 Dominator and
if someone enters the safety area, shut down
the unit by closing the safety channel
immediately.

To activate the Dominator and unlock the
safety channel, open the fader of your
DMX controller half-way (between 40%
and 60%).
When the safety channel is open, the 2
red LED’s on the backside of the unit will
start flashing.

12. TURNING OFF
Turn off the CO2 Dominator as follows:
When there is no gas / pressure left in the
hoses, disconnect them from the
distribution block.

Activate the CO2 Dominator one more
time to remove all the remaining CO2 and
pressure out of the hoses.

Close the CO2 bottles.

Disconnect the CO2 Dominator from the
power supply.

13. TROUBLESHOOTING
- The CO2 Dominator is leaking
Check if all hoses are connected well and tightly to the CO2 bottles, distribution block and to the CO2
Dominator. If a connector is leaking, try to adapt it more tightly.
- The CO2 Dominator does not produce white smoke plumes.
Probably u are not using the right CO2cylinder. Connect a cylinder with liquid carbon dioxide equipped
with a dip pipe to the CO2 Dominator.
In rare cases the dip pipe can be broken. Replace the cylinder and notify your gas supplier about the
defect.
- The CO2 Dominator still does not work after troubleshooting
Always contact your dealer or the MAGIC FX technical department if you have any doubts or
questions about the operation of or other issues related to the CO2 Dominator.

15. MAINTENANCE
To prolong the life of the CO2 Dominator for as long as possible, you must regularly clean it and test
that it functions properly.
Regardless of the reason, contact MAGIC FX if the CO2 Dominator does not work properly
DANGER WARNING:
Never replace parts yourself. Always consult MAGIC FX when needed.
16. GUARANTEE
The MAGIC FX CO2 Dominator has a 3 years factory guarantee.
The guarantee is annulled should the CO2 Dominator be used for purposes other than intended or for
applications that are not listed in the manual.
The guarantee is annulled should the device be used incorrectly or in a manner contrary to its
instructions.
The guarantee is annulled if the device is altered without the permission of its supplier.
