General
Read and retain the Operating Instructions
These Operating Instructions are an integral part of this
hands-free device. They contain important information
about how to switch on the device and how to operate it.
Read through these Operating Instructions carefully - the safety in-
structions in particular - before using the hands-free device. Failure
to observe these Operating Instructions may result in damage to
the device. These Operating Instructions are based on applicable EU
standards and regulations. Also observe specific guidelines and laws
for any country where the device will be used. Retain these Operat-
ing Instructions for further reference. When transferring possession
of the hands-free device to a third party, be sure to include these
Operating Instructions.

The following symbols and signal words are used in these Operating
Instructions, on the hands-free device, and/or on the product packaging.
DANGER!
This signal word indicates a high-level hazard which could cause
death or serious injury if not avoided.
WARNING!
This signal word indicates a mid-level hazard which could cause
death or serious injury if not avoided.

CAUTION!
This signal word indicates a low-level hazard which could cause low to
moderate injury if not avoided.
NOTE!
This signal word warns against potential material damage.
This signal provides useful additional information re-
garding assembly or operation.
Declaration of conformity: Products containing this
symbol comply with all Community legislation of the
European Economic Area.

Correct use
The hands-free device is designed to be used exclusively as such.
The hands-free device is intended for private use only and is not
suitable for commercial use.
The hands-free device should only be used as directed by these
Operating Instructions. Using the device for activities unintended by
these Operating Instructions may result in material damage to the
device.
The manufacturer, retailer and/or dealer do not accept any liability
for damages that arise from improper or incorrect use.

Safety information
WARNING!
Danger of electrocution! Faulty electrical installations or excessive
mains voltage can cause electrocution.
Bluetooth® devices work with shortwave radio signals. These can
interfere with other electronic devices including medical devices.
− Disconnect the hands-free device in areas where its use is pro-
hibited.
− Do not use the hands-free device in medical facilities, in airplanes,
at service stations, near automatic fire alarms or near any other
automatically controlled devices.
− Keep the hands-free device at least 20 cm away from pacemakers
and other medical devices. Radio signals can interfere with the
functioning of pacemakers and other medical devices.

− Do not operate the hands-free device if it is visibly damaged or if
the USB charging cable or the car charger adapter is defective.
− Do not open the housing. Repairs should be carried out by a
licensed professional. Contact a specialist workshop. All liability
and warranty claims shall be void in case of repairs carried out by
users themselves, or due to incorrect cable insertion/connection,
or through improper use.
− For repairs, only parts that match and correspond to the original
should be used. This equipment contains all required electrical
and mechanical safeguards for protection against hazards.
− The hands-free device must not be operated with an external
timer
clock or separate remote control system.
− The hands-free device and related accessories must not be
exposed to moisture, liquid spills or excessive humidity. There is a
risk of fire and electrocution.
− Never touch the car charger adapter with wet hands.

− Keep the hands-free device, car charger and USB cable away from
open flame and hot surfaces.
− Use the USB cable in such a way that it does not become a trip
hazard.
− Do not create kinks the USB cable and do not extend it over sharp
edges.
− Never store the hands-free device in such a way that it could fall
into a sink or other water storage device.
− Protect the device from extreme heat (above 35° C) and cold
(below 5° C), direct sunlight and dust.
− When you are not using the hands-free device, when cleaning it,
or when a fault occurs, always switch the hands-free kit off and
disconnect it from the external power supply.
− If you would like to attach the hands-free device to the remov-
able sun visor clip, please ensure that the hands-free device
is secure and will not slip while you are driving. Position the
hands-free device in such a way that operating it does not ex-

pose you to any traffic hazards.
− Make sure that children do not insert objects into the hands-free
device.
− Keep children under eight years old away from the hands-free
device and the power cord.
− Young children should not operate the device.
− Do not leave the hands-free device unattended during use.
− Keep packaging foil away from children. It may serve as a choking
hazard.
− Do not place open sources of flame, such as candles, on or near
the device.
− Do not use the device while driving.

Hazard for children and persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental abilities (including those with partial disability, or
the elderly who have limited physical and mental capacity) or
who lack the appropriate experience and know-how (such as
teenagers).
This hands-free device may be used by children eight years of age
and older, as well as persons with reduced physical, sensory or
mental abilities, or by those who may lack experience and know-how,
provided they are under supervision, or they have been instructed
about the safe use and the potential hazards of the hands-free device.
Children should not play with the hands-free device. The hands-free
device should not be cleaned or maintained by children without
supervision.

CAUTION!
There is an explosion risk if the battery is not replaced correctly.
Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type
− Do not expose the built-in battery to extreme low air pressure or
excessive heat such as direct sunlight, fire, etc.Flammable liquid
or exposure to gas may pose an explosion risk.
− If the battery is leaking, avoid skin and eye contact after han-
dling the battery. In the event battery acid comes in contact
with eyes, flush liberally with water and contact a doctor imme-
diately. In case of contact with skin, wash the area thoroughly
with soap and water.
− Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, or short-circuit the battery
under any circumstances; doing so presents a risk of explosion.
− Before disposal, built-in batteries must first be removed from
the device and each disposed of separately. Contact the retail

store/dealer from where you purchased the device or take it to a
refuse/collection centre responsible for environmentally sound
disposal of electronic equipment and batteries.
Caution!
Do not use this device near water or places of
heavy humidity, for example, in a damp cellar, near a
swimming pool or bathtub.
Potential hearing damage!
Extreme volume levels can damage your hearing due
to high acoustic pressure.

NOTE!
Danger of damage!
If you are not careful when opening the packaging with a sharp knife
or other pointed object, the hands-free device can easily be damaged.
Please open packaging carefully.
1. Remove the hands-free device from the packaging and check
whether the hands-free device or any of the components are
damaged. In the event of damage, do not use the hands-free
device. Contact the service address of the manufacturer listed on
the Warranty card.
2. Check that delivery is complete (see Fig. A).

• Remove packaging material and all protective foil.
• Before using the device for the first time, clean all parts of the
hands-free device as indicated in the chapter on Cleaning.

Charging the battery
The integrated lithium-polymer battery must be charged before
using the Maginon BHF-35 hands-free device with Bluetooth®. A low
battery level is indicated by an audible signal from the hands-free
device. Connect the supplied Mini USB cable 2to the Mini USB port
11 on the device and a USB port on an external power supply.
