AnatomyGetting To Know Your Kayak
A kayak has basic features. The front of the kayak is the bow and the rear is the
stern. When looking forward to the bow, the left side of the kayak is port and
the right side of the kayak is startboard. The hull ID number (KPO sticker) can
be found on the port side of the kayak at the stern.
In the middle of the boat, there is a cockpit area with foot wells (toward the
bow) and a seating area (towards the stern). Inside the cockpit, there are holes
that go all of the way through the kayak called scuppers. These scuppers allow
the kayak to drain. On many of the models, there is a bungee in the front of the
cockpit and behind the seat. This allows you to secure gear to the deck of the
kayak. Your particular model may have hatches that allow access to the inside
of the kayak for gear storage. Some models feature a molded-in tank which
can be used for live bait well, dry storage, cooler, or battery compartment.
Threaded eyelets and shock cord cleats are line along the rails of the kayak to
attach numerous accerssories.

Loved by resorts and rental eets, the standard package is great for users
who don’t require any hatches or are looking for a blank slate to do their own
customization.
Want just enough, but not too much? Our kayaks that come available in a
recreational package is just right. These come with at least one hatch and are
perfect for users who aren’t big anglers and will be using the kayak for other
purposes.
Rigged, set, and ready to go! Our Fishing and Diving packages come equipped
with all the rod holders and hatches you’ll ever need. Never fear though, there
is still plenty of room left for you to install even more.

Patching Holes
Super linear polyethylene is vey durable and can be repaired if the need arises.
Cracks or deep gouges can be welded with a suitable heat gun and resin
powder. Marine goop is also a very inexpensive way to seal a pin-hole leak or
other small patching areas.
Instructions for Patching Holes:
Be sure NOT to leave soldering iron in one area too long; you can burn a hole
in your kayak. The cooling process takes about 10 minutes. Test area when
nished. In some cases you might need to add a second application depending
on the size of the repair. Items needed: color plastic to match your kayak and a
pencil-grip soldering iron. (approximatley 25 watt)

Maintenance
After every use, it is recommended to thoroughly rinse your kayak with water.
Make sure to rinse foot pegs and all hardware with plenty of fresh water after
paddling in saltwater, barckish or polluted water.
Kayak Wash
Recommended supplies:
- Bucket
- Sponge
- Soft cloth
- Garden hose
- Wash soap solution
In preparation, ll your bucket with water and add a cap or two full of soap
solution. Next, nd a clean and at area to wash your kayak. Utilize kayak
cradles or stands if you have them, if not, a deck or grassy lawn works great.
First, wash down the kayak with your garden hose to remove any surface dirt,
pollen, debris, sea salt, etc. While the kayak is still wet, take your sponge and
soak it in the soap/water solution. Wash down the entire kayak with the soap/
water solution. This will remove any stubborn dirt and debris. Be careful not to
remove decals, striping, etc. while scrubbing your kayak.
After you scrub down the surface with soap/water solution, rinse down the
kayak with your garden hose again to remove any excess suds. Remove
threaded eyelet that is located near the stern (see Hull Drainage on page 16) to
drain out any excess water that might be inside the hull. Let your kayak air dry,
or towel dry the surface if you prefer. Turn your kayak over and make sure the
hull is completly dry.
Kayak UV Protection
As nish touch, to prevent damages from harmful UV radiation we suggest a
quality UV protectant. 303 Areospace Protectant can be applied as a sunscreen
for your kayak.

StorageMini-X
Always store your kayak indoors or under cover to protect from harsh weather,
direct sun light and other elements.
Never use a wheel cart as a storage platform for your kayak. A wheel cart
should only be used for transportation. Prolonged exposure for direct sun light
may cause degradation.
Storing your boat upside down on crossbars or hanging from wide strapping
around the cock pit area, are the best ways to keep the kayak stored.
Never hang the kayak by handles or by the scuppers. It will distort the kayak
hull.
On its side over a long period of time it can deform or dent the sides.
Storing your kayak cockpit side up on cross bars can dent the bottom.
You could also store your kayak on its stern standing againts a wall. Make sure
to strap your kayak to prevent it from tipping over.
