Looking after your Podma:
• Wearing your baby is a very ancient and natural way. At
Mamaruga we believe our ancients heritage.
• Mamaruga only use fabrics that are non toxic and safe for babies
• Please follow the instructions on the label.
• We recommend that to use liquid detergent. Do not use a fabric
softener as this causes the buckles to become slippy and in time
will weaken the threads of the fabric.
• 96% cotton, 4% lycra, polyester padding

• For low birthweight babies and children with medical conditions, seek

• Your balance may be adversely aected by your movement and that of your
child
• Take care when bending or leaning forward or sideways
• This carrier is not suitable to use during sporting activities
• Conforms to BS EN 13209-2:2015
• We recommend from newborn till ’knee to knee position.
• Do not use this carrier with babies smaller than 3 kg (6,6 lb)
• Never use your carrier during any risky activities, eating hot food
• When you are wearing your baby, please use your common sense at all
times
• Never use a carrier with any sign of defects or damage
• Always check to ensure that all knots and adjustments are secure.
• There must be at least 5cm length of webbing either side of the buckle clip
after tightening it
• Ask someone to assist you at all times until you are condent in tting the
carrier with your baby
• Always make sure the baby’s face is clear from obstruction. Beware at all
times of your baby’s breathing
• Check your baby regularly in the carrier (safety and correct position)

Setting up your Podma
with waist belt

You can use your Podma
Carrier with or without
waist belt.
To use it with waist belt,
simply thread it through the
bottom of the Pod.
You can roll up the hood
to give support for your
child’s head.
To use the hood: Tie the
hood using the cords to the
extra strap , which
is located on the shoulder
strap. It is recommended to
tie only one side at a time,
leaving the face free from
obstruction and always
making sure the airways
are clear.

Holding the baby
on your front, place
the top of Pod at the
baby’s neck level.
The Pod should hang
down pass the baby’s
bottom. Place shoul-
der straps over each
shoulder.
While holding the baby
securely with one hand,
place the free hand around
your back and take hold of
the opposite arm star. Pull
in a downwards motion.
Holding the baby
securely with one
hand under the
bottom, gather
the side of the
Pod into the knee.
Repeat the other
side.
Cross the straps
under the baby’s
bottom, with each
strap passing under
the knee and to
your back.
Repeat steps
3 & 4 with
the opposite
arm strap.
Pull it across your back
and over the baby’s
knee. Hold it secure
under the baby’s
bottom.

Tie a double knot
or flat reef knot to
secure the carrier.

Spread the
shoulder straps
over your
shoulders for
comfort.
CHECK baby’s airways - are they free
from fabric. Is the chin off their chest?
CHECK the fabric on baby’s back, does it
feel secure, supportive and smooth?
CHECK the baby’s legs positioning. Is
the fabric supporting/under the baby’s
knees? Is the baby’s legs in an ‘M”
position?
Undo the knot
at the back.
Holding baby securely,
let the fabric untwine
and you can place the
baby down safely.

Roll the waist belt to
make the length of
carrier shorter.
Place the carrier around
your waist and clip in
the buckle at the back.
Place baby on your
front.

Thread the waist belt
through the bottom
of the Pod. Gather the
fabric to the width size
of your baby’s knee-to-
knee position.
Front carry with
waist belt
Place the carrier
around your waist
and clip at the
back.
Spread the fabric
up the baby’s
back. It should
finish at the baby’s
nape of neck. Place
each shoulder
strap over each
shoulder.
Place the baby on your
front and spread the Pod
up the back of the baby.
If the Pod is too long-
goes over the baby’s
neck line- place the baby
down safely and take the
Pod off.

When you have
two strap s across
your back, keeping
it taut, you can pull
outwards to tighten
the Pod around the
baby’s back.
Place the straps
under the baby’s
knee on each side
and tie a knot under
the baby’s bottom
securely. You can
spread the shoulder
straps over your
shoulders for extra
comfort as seen in
POD instructions.

Undo the knot under the baby’s bottom.
Holding the baby securely, let the fabric untwine and
place the baby safely down. Unclip the waist belt.

Using a chair to support your foot. Place the baby
on your thigh facing away from you. Place the Pod
at the nape of the baby’s neck with shoulder straps
going over the baby’s shoulders. Thumbs should be
on the baby’s back holding the fabric, while your
index fingers are pointing inwards on the chest,
holding fabric in place. The last 3 fingers should be
holding fabric under the upper arms.

at ALL TIMES. This
allows you to free up
both hands.

Keep the shoulder straps
taut AT ALL TIMES to
hold the baby securely
against your body when
on your back. Place one
hand under the baby’s
bottom for support.
Hold the straps securely
in the other hand close
to your body.
Gather the
loose fabric into
the knees and
under the baby’s
bottom.

Bring the strap across
your chest and secure
it with the opposite
shoulder strap by tak-
ing it from an outside
to in motion. Let the
strap hang down in
front.
Repeat the steps
6-9 to finsh off
the other side.

extra support and using
the other hand free up
one shoulder strap from
your knee. Place it under
your arm pit and over
the baby’s knee.
Continue to take it
under baby’s bottom
and towards the other
baby’s knee. This time
place it under the baby’s
knee and bring it to the
front of your body.

Undo the chest straps.
Keeping hold of your
baby’s bottom, slowly
lower your baby to the
side which is supporting
the baby by hand and
bring them around to
the front safely.

Hold the baby with
one hand under the
bottom for support.
Take hold of both
straps infant of
body, making sure
they are held firmly
close to body.
Dip your head quick-
ly and smoothly
through the gap
in the front fabric-
keeping straps taut
at ALL TIMES. Place
both straps onto one
shoulder.

Follow steps 1-6 for
front carry on page 5,
but without placing
straps over the
shoulders
in step 6.
Firmly holding the
two arm straps in the
same hand as over your
should, place your other
hand under the baby’s
bottom. Begin to hip
scoot the baby around
to your side (on your
hip).
Keep the shoulder
straps taut at ALL times
to secure the baby close
to your body and slowly
keep scooting the baby
onto your back.

Take hold of each strap
in each hand, keeping it
taut at ALL TIMES.

Pass the straps into
the same hand as
the strap over the
shoulder and quickly
and smoothly move
your elbow inside of
your body and under
the strap (under your
arm pit) and move
the strap onto your
shoulder.
Tie a knot under
the baby’s
bottom.
Take one arm strap
and feed it under
your arm pit and
under the baby’s
knee. Repeat with the
other side.

Untie the straps at
the back.
Bring the straps to
the front of your
body, keeping
straps taut ALL
TIMES. Place the baby
safely down and
then unclip your
waist belt.

Place your elbow in
front of you, quickly
and smoothly let the
strap slide off your
shoulder and to your
arm pit. Take hold of
the arm strap with
your hand quickly,
keeping it taut.
Holding the straps
firmly with the same
hand as the straps
going over your
shoulder, place the
other hand under
the baby’s bottom
for support and
slowly hip scoot the
baby to the front.
