Please read these guidelines carefully and follow them strictly
before using the product. This user manual must be available
to anyone who will be using the set. However, it does not
exempt users from exercising personal responsibility.
1 Made for
This product provides fall protection and is considered
personal protective equipment (PPE). It features an ener-
gy-absorbing lanyard designed for via ferrata routes. It is
approved only for users weighing more than 40kg (without
equipment) and less than 120kg (including equipment). See
also fig. 7.4.
2 Warning
– Before using this product, always read all of the instruc-
tions carefully and complete the appropriate training.
– These guidelines are provided to help you use the prod-
uct correctly. However, because it is impossible to cover
every possible scenario, the guidelines are never a sub-
stitute for users’ own knowledge, training, experience,
and personal responsibility.
– Via ferrata routes always include alpine terrain and there-
fore involve certain risks. Regardless of the user’s weight,
a fall always carries a high risk of injury, even when the
via ferrata set is used and working correctly. This risk
of injury is greater for lighter weight individuals. Always
select a via ferrata route that is appropriate to your level
of ability. Due to the high risk of injury, falls on via ferrata
routes must always be avoided.
– The user assumes all risks and takes full responsibility for
any damage and/or injuries that may occur when using
Mammut equipment.
– Mammut, the equipment manufacturers and specialist
retailers assume no liability whatsoever for improper use
and/or handling.

4 Compatibility
Ensure that this product is only used with other compatible
products that meet the standards and requirements of your
country. For example, only use certified harnesses (e.g. EN
12277 Harnesses) that are in perfect condition. Never use a
chest harness on its own.

Always use the carabiners supplied with the via ferrata set
or EN 12275 type-K carabiners.
5 Installation
Attaching the via ferrata set to the harness. Attach the via
ferrata set to your harness using a girth hitch knot as show
in fig. 5.1–5.4. Make sure you tie it to a securing point ap-
proved by the harness manufacturer.
6 Carabiners
Use the carabiner only together with the via ferrata set.
A carabiner is not indestructible. A carabiner can only with-
stand the maximum breaking load in the longitudinal axis
and if the gate is closed. Any other load on the carabiner is
dangerous (Fig. 6.2).
7Using the via ferrata set
When using the via ferrata set, make sure that both cara -
biners are always clipped onto the via ferrata cable (Fig. 7.1).
When passing a cable anchor point, always keep at least
one elastic arm clipped into the via ferrata cable (Fig. 7.2).
Resting
When resting, you can hang directly from the via ferrata set
or use the rest loop provided (Fig. 7.3), which connects you
comfortably to the anchor point with a shorter link. Always
keep one elastic arm attached to the safety cable.
Belaying with a rope
Users weighing less than 40 kg (without equipment)or more
than 120 kg (with equipment) must be belayed using a suit-
able belay device and with a rope that meets EN 892/EN
1891 standards or an equivalent PPE system designed for
top-rope belaying. In difficult sections, regardless of the us-
er’s weight, additional belaying with a rope is always recom-
mended. Mammut always recommends additional belaying
for inexperienced adults and children (Fig. 7.4).
How it works
After the energy absorber has been stressed from a fall, it
may no longer be able to absorb the energy from another
fall (Fig 7.5).
8 Misuse
A carabiner should never be clipped into the harness
(Fig.8.1). This can prevent the energy absorber from func-
tioning properly.
The elastic arms should never be placed around the neck
because this poses a risk of strangulation (Fig. 8.2).
Never tie the elastic arms into knots, as this will reduce their
strength (Fig. 8.3).

The resting carabiner should be allowed to hang free when
it is not in use (Fig. 8.4, 8.5, 8.6).
9 Inspection
Inspect your via ferrata set before and after each use to
ensure it is working properly and is not damaged. Make
sure that the energy absorber has not been stressed be-
yond its capacity. If the label is broken (completely or partly),
replace the via ferrata set.
Inspect the elastic arms, tie-in loop and pouch. Look for
damage and signs of wear, such as tearing, fraying and
chemical damage. Make sure that the seams are intact.
The carabiner should not have deformations or cracks.
Open the gate and make sure that it closes and self-locks
when released. The equipment must be fully inspected by
a specialist at least once a year.
10 Service life and when to retire your via
ferrata set
The service life of a product cannot be determined precisely
in advance, as it depends on many factors such as frequency
of use, handling, weather, etc. In general, the product is to be
replaced immediately in the following cases (Fig. 10.1) :
– after a heavy fall (extreme mechanical loading)
– if the stitching or webbing is damaged (e.g. fraying or
pilling of the webbing)
– if it is heavily and permanently soiled (e.g. with grease,
bitumen, oil, dust, fine particles of sand)
– if it has been exposed to high thermal stress, direct or
frictional heat resulting in visible signs of fusing.
– if the “Indicator” color-contrast core of the webbing of
the tie-in & resting loop shows through (see Fig. 10.2).
Below are some basic guidelines for determining the ser-
vice life of a via ferrata set based on the frequency of use.
However, the via ferrata set may need to be replaced much
sooner than these guidelines indicate if any of the afore-
mentioned factors applies.
Maximum service life of a Mammut via ferrata set (Fig. 10.3):
1. Unused: 10 years
2. Occasional use (once or twice a year): max. 7 years
3. Infrequent use (once a month): max. 5 years
4. Regular use (two to three times a month): max. 3 years
5. Frequent use (every week): max. 1 year
6. Constant use (almost daily): max. 6 months
CAUTION: Always replace the entire via ferrata set after a
fall, even if the product shows no visible signs of damage.
If the product is visibly damaged, the entire set must be re-
placed, even if only individual parts appear to be damaged.

11 STORAGE AND TRANSPORT
Ideal storage conditions: in a cool, dry and dark place.
Protect the equipment from direct sunlight, exposure to
chemicals, heat and mechanical forces (e.g. pressure or
tension). Fig 11.
12 CLEANING
Clean the soiled product with lukewarm water and neutral
soap or a small amount of mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly.
Always leave the energy absorber in the pouch when clean-
ing.
The gate of the carabiner must be cleaned and lubricated
regularly. Use an acid-free oil or a Teflon/silicone-based
lubricant.
13 DRYING
Leave the wet product to dry in a shady place. When drying,
unzip the shock absorber sheath so that air can circulate
around the webbing. Do not remove the shock absorber.
14 REPAIRS & ALTERATIONS
Repairs and alterations must only be carried out by profes-
sionals, specifically authorized to do so.
For warranty and repair claims, send the product to Mam-
mut directly.
15 Declaration of conformity
The declaration of conformity can be obtained and down-
loaded by clicking on the indicated link or using the QR
Code. The file can be found by name or article number.

1 Verwendungszweck
Dieses Produkt dient der Absturzsicherung und gilt als
persönliche Schutzausrüstung (PSA). Es verfügt über einen
Bandfalldämpfer, der speziell für Klettersteige entwickelt
wurde. Er ist nur für Benutzer mit einem Gewicht von mehr
als 40kg (ohne Ausrüstung) und weniger als 120kg (mit

2 Warnung

4 Kompatibilität
Achten Sie darauf, dass dieses Produkt nur mit anderen
kompatiblen Produkten verwendet wird, die den Normen
und Anforderungen Ihres Landes entsprechen. Verwenden
Sie z.B. nur zertifizierte Klettergurte (z.B. Anseilgurte ge-
mäss DIN EN 12277 ), die in einwandfreiem Zustand sind.y
Benutzen Sie niemals einen Brustgurt einzeln.
Verwenden Sie immer die mit dem Klettersteigset geliefer-
ten Karabiner oder Karabiner gemäss DIN EN 12275 Typ-K.
5 Installation
Anbringen des Klettersteigsets am Anseilgurt. Verbinden
Sie das Klettersteigset mit einem Ankerstich an Ihrem An-
seilgurt wie in den Abbildungen 5.1–5.4 zu sehen. Achten
Sie darauf, dass Sie es an einem vom Hersteller des Kletter-
gurts zugelassenen Befestigungspunkt einbinden.
6 Karabiner
Verwenden Sie den Karabiner nur zusammen mit dem
Kletter steigset. Ein Karabiner ist nicht unzerstörbar. Ein
Karabiner weist die maximale Bruchlast nur in der Längs-
achse und bei geschlossenem Schnapper auf. Jede andere
Belastung des Karabiners ist gefährlich (Abb.6.2).
7Verwenden des Klettersteigsets
Achten Sie bei der Verwendung des Klettersteigsets darauf,
dass immer beide Karabiner in das Stahlseil des Kletter -
steigs eingehängt sind (Abb.7.1).
Beim Passieren eines Anschlagpunktes muss immer min-
destens ein elastischer Arm in das Klettersteigseil einge-
hängt bleiben (Abb.7.2).

Rasten
Zum Rasten können Sie sich entweder direkt ins Kletters-
teigset setzen oder die mitgelieferte Rastschlaufe (Abb.7.3)
benutzen, die Sie bequem über einer kürzeren Band-
schlinge mit der Verankerung verbindet. Lassen Sie immer
einen elastischen Arm am Seil des Klettersteigs befestigt.
Sichern mit einem Seil
Personen, die weniger als 40kg (ohne Ausrüstung) oder
mehr als 120kg (mit Ausrüstung) wiegen, müssen mit ei-
nem geeigneten Sicherungsgerät und einem Seil, das den
Normen EN 892/EN 1891 entspricht, oder mit einem gleich-
wertigen PSA-System, das für dieToprope-Sicherung aus-
gelegt ist. In schwierigen Passagen oder bei Ermüdung
wird unabhängig vom Gewicht des Benutzers unbedingt
eine zusätzliche Partnersicherung mit einem Seil empfoh-
len. Mammut empfiehlt bei ungeübten Erwachsenen und
Kindern immer eine zusätzliche Partnersicherung (Abb.7.4).
Funktionsweise
Nachdem der Bandfalldämpfer durch einen Sturz belastet
wurde, ist er möglicherweise nicht mehr in der Lage, die
Energie eines weiteren Sturzes abzufangen (Abb.7.5).
8 Unsachgemässe Verwendung
Es darf kein Karabiner in den Klettergurt eingehängt werden
(Abb. 8.1). Das kann zur Folge haben, dass der Bandfall-
dämpfer nicht mehr richtig funktioniert.
Die elastischen Arme dürfen niemals um den Hals gelegt
werden, da sonst Strangulationsgefahr besteht (Abb.8.2).
Die elastischen Arme dürfen nicht verknotet werden, da
dies ihre Festigkeit verringert (Abb.8.3).
Der Rastkarabiner sollte frei hängen, wenn er nicht benutzt
wird (Abb.8.4, 8.5, 8.6).
9 Inspektion
Überprüfen Sie Ihr Klettersteigset vor und nach jeder Ver-
wendung, um sicherzustellen, dass es einwandfrei funktio-
niert und nicht beschädigt ist. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der
Bandfalldämpfer nicht über seine Kapazität hinaus belastet
wurde. Wenn das Etikett (ganz oder teilweise) zerrissen ist,
müssen Sie das Klettersteigset ersetzen.
Überprüfen Sie die elastischen Arme, die Einbindeschlaufe
und die Tasche. Achten Sie auf Schäden und Abnutzungs-
erscheinungen wie Risse, Ausfransungen und chemische
Schäden. Achten Sie darauf, dass die Nähte intakt sind.
Der Karabiner darf keine Verformungen oder Risse aufwei-
sen. Öffnen Sie den Schnapper und vergewissern Sie sich,
dass er korrekt schliesst und beim Loslassen selbsttätig
verriegelt. Die Ausrüstung muss mindestens einmal pro
Jahr von einem Fachmann vollständig überprüft werden.

10 Lebensdauer und Zeitpunkt der Ausmus-
terung des Klettersteigsets
Die Lebensdauer eines Produkts lässt sich im Voraus nicht
genau bestimmen, da sie von vielen Faktoren wie Nutzungs-
häufigkeit, Handhabung, Witterungseinflüssen usw. abhängt.
Im Allgemeinen muss das Produkt in den folgenden Fällen
sofort ersetzt werden (Abb.10.1) :
– nach einem harten Sturz (extreme mechanische Belas-
tung)
– wenn die Absteppungen oder die Bänder beschädigt
sind (z.B. Ausfransen oder Aufrauen der Bänder)
– bei starker und dauerhafter Verschmutzung (z.B. Fett,
Bitumen, Öl, Staub, feine Sandkörner)
– nach starker thermischer Belastung, direkter Hitze oder
Reibungshitze, so dass Schmelzspuren sichtbar sind.
– Wenn der kontrastfarbene «Indicator»-Kern des Gewe-
bes der Einbinde- und Rastschlaufe sichtbar wird (vgl.
Abb.10.2).
Nachfolgend finden Sie einige grundlegende Richtlinien für
die Bestimmung der Lebensdauer eines Klettersteigsets in
Abhängigkeit von der Nutzungshäufigkeit. Es kann jedoch
sein, dass das Klettersteigset deutlich früher ersetzt wer-
den muss als in diesen Richtlinien angegeben, wenn einer
der oben genannten Faktoren zutrifft.
Maximale Nutzungsdauer eines Mammut-Klettersteigsets
(Abb.10.3):
1. Unbenutzt: 10Jahre
2. Gelegentliche Nutzung (ein- oder zweimal pro Jahr):
max. 7Jahre
3. Sporadische Nutzung (einmal pro Monat): max. 5Jahre
4. Regelmässige Nutzung (zwei- bis dreimal pro Monat):
max. 3Jahre
5. Häufige Nutzung (einmal pro Woche): max. 1Jahr
6. Ständige Nutzung (fast täglich): max. 6Monate
ACHTUNG: Ersetzen Sie nach einem Sturz immer das
gesamte Klettersteigset, auch wenn das Produkt keine
sichtbaren Schäden aufweist. Wenn das Produkt sichtbar
beschädigt ist, muss immer das gesamte Set ersetzt wer-
den, auch wenn die Beschädigung nur an einzelnen Teilen
sichtbar ist.
11 LAGERUNG UND TRANSPORT
Lagern Sie das Produkt an einem kühlen, trockenen und
dunklen Ort. Schützen Sie die Ausrüstung vor direkter Son-
neneinstrahlung, Chemikalien, Hitze und mechanischen
Kräften (z.B. Druck oder Zug). Abb.11.

12 REINIGUNG
Reinigen Sie das verschmutzte Produkt mit handwarmem
Wasser und ggf. mit neutraler Seife oder einer kleinen
Menge Feinwaschmittel. Spülen Sie es anschliessend
gründlich aus. Lassen Sie den Bandfalldämpfer beim Rei-
nigen immer in der Tasche.
Der Schnapper des Karabiners muss regelmässig gereinigt
und geschmiert werden. Verwenden Sie dazu ein säure-
freies Öl oder ein Schmiermittel auf Teflon-/Silikonbasis.
13 TROCKNEN
Lassen Sie das nasse Produkt an einem schattigen Ort
trocknen. Öffnen Sie beim Trocknen den Reissverschluss
der Falldämpfer-Tasche, damit die Luft um das Band zir-
kulieren kann. Nehmen Sie den Bandfalldämpfer nicht aus
der Tasche.

Reparaturen und Modifikationen dürfen nur von Fachleuten
durchgeführt werden, die dazu ausdrücklich befugt sind.

les utilisateurs de la longe. Il ne dispense les cependant pas

1 Destination
Ce produit offre une protection contre les chutes et il est
considéré comme un équipement de protection indivi-
duelle (EPI). Il possède deux sangles à absorption d’énergie
conçues pour la via ferrata. Il est approuvé pour les per-
sonnes de plus de 40kg (sans équipement) et moins de
120kg (avec équipement). Voir également figure7.4.
2 Avertissement
– Avant d’utiliser ce produit, lisez attentivement l’ensemble
des instructions et suivez la formation adéquate.
– Les présentes consignes sont utiles pour une utilisation
conforme du produit. Toutefois, comme il est impossible
d’aborder tous les scénarios possibles, rien ne rempla-
cera les connaissances personnelles, les formations,
l’expérience acquise et la responsabilité individuelle.
– Les vias ferratas se font toujours sur terrain alpin et
comprennent par conséquent certains risques. Indé-
pendamment du poids de l’utilisateur, une chute com-
porte toujours un risque de blessure élevé, même en cas
d’utilisation conforme et de fonctionnement correct de la

via ferrata adaptée à votre niveau. Compte tenu du risque
élevé de blessure en via ferrata, toute chute doit abso-
lument être évitée.

responsabilité quant aux éventuels dommages et/ou
blessures lors de l’utilisation d’un équipement Mammut.

4 Compatibilité
Veillez à utiliser ce produit uniquement avec des produits
compatibles répondant aux normes et exigences en vigueur
dans votre pays. Par exemple, utilisez uniquement des har-
nais d’escalade certifiés (par exemple, harnais EN12277)
en parfait état. N’utilisez jamais un harnais torse seul.
Utilisez toujours les mousquetons fournis avec la longe
de via ferrata ou des mousquetons de type K certifiés
EN12275.
5 Installation
Fixation de la longe de via ferrata au harnais d’escalade.
Fixez la longe de via ferrata à votre harnais au moyen d’un
nœud tête d’alouette comme indiqué sur les figures 5.1 à
5.4. Veillez à le nouer à un point d’attache approuvé par le
fabricant du harnais.
6 Mousquetons
Utilisez le mousqueton uniquement avec la longe de via
ferrata.
Un mousqueton n’est pas indestructible. La résistance
maximale à la rupture d’un mousqueton est assurée uni-
quement dans l’axe longitudinal et lorsque le doigt est
fermé. Toute autre contrainte exercée sur le mousqueton
est dangereuse (figure6.2).
7Utilisation de la longe de via ferrata
Lors de l’utilisation de la longe de via ferrata, veillez à ce que
les deux mousquetons soit bien fixés au câble de via ferrata.
Au passage d’un point de renvoi, gardez toujours au moins
une sangle élastique accrochée au câble de via ferrata
(figure7.2).

Phases de repos
Pour vous reposer, vous pouvez vous suspendre directe-
ment à la longe ou dans la boucle de repos (figure7.3), ce
qui réduit la distance avec le point de renvoi et offre un
maintien confortable. Gardez toujours une sangle élastique
accrochée au câble de sécurité.
Assurage avec une corde
Les utilisateurs pesant moins de 40 kg (sans équipement)
ou plus de 120 kg (avec équipement) doivent être assurés
à l’aide d’un dispositif d’assurage adapté et d’une corde
conforme aux normes EN 892/EN 1891 ou d’un système EPI
équivalent conçu pour l’assurage en moulinette. Dans les
sections difficiles, quel que soit le poids de l’utilisateur, un
assurage supplémentaire avec une corde est recommandé.
Mammut recommande toujours un assurage supplémentaire
pour les adultes inexpérimentés et les enfants (figure7.4).
Fonctionnement
Une fois que l’absorbeur a été sollicité par une chute, il se
peut qu’il ne soit plus capable d’absorber l’énergie d’une
autre chute (figure7.5).
8 Utilisation incorrecte
Aucun mousqueton ne doit être accroché au harnais d’es-
calade (figure8.1). Cela pourrait empêcher l’absorbeur de
fonctionner correctement.
Les sangles élastiques ne doivent pas être placées autour
du cou, car cela comporte un risque d’étranglement.
Ne faites jamais de nœuds sur les sangles élastiques, car
cela réduit leur résistance (figure8.3).
Le mousqueton de la boucle de repos doit pouvoir pendre
librement lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé. (figures 8.4, 8.5, 8.6)
9 Contrôle
Contrôlez votre longe de via ferrata avant et après chaque
utilisation afin de vérifier qu’elle est en bon état de fonction-
nement et n’est pas endommagée. Vérifiez que l’absorbeur
n’a pas été sollicité au-delà de ses capacités. Si l’étiquette
est déchirée (complètement ou partiellement), remplacez
la longe de via ferrata.
Inspectez les sangles élastiques, la boucle d’encordement
et la housse de l’absorbeur. Vérifiez qu’il n’y a pas de dom-
mages ou de signes d’usure: déchirures, effilochage ou
dommages d’origine chimique. Vérifiez que les coutures
sont intactes.
Le mousqueton ne doit présenter ni déformations ni fis-
sures. Ouvrez le doigt et assurez-vous qu’il se referme et
se verrouille automatiquement lorsqu’on le relâche. L’équi-
pement doit faire l’objet d’un contrôle complet par un spé-
cialiste au moins une fois par an.

10 Durée de vie et remplacement de votre
longe de via ferrata
La durée de vie d’un produit ne peut être calculée précisé-
ment à l’avance puisqu’elle dépend de différents facteurs
comme la fréquence d’utilisation, son entretien, les intempé-
ries, etc. De manière générale, le produit doit être remplacé
immédiatement dans les cas suivants (figure10.1) :
– après une chute violente (contrainte mécanique impor-
tant);
– si les coutures ou les bandes sont endommagés (par
exemple, si elles sont effilochées ou qu’il y a des bou-
loches);
– en cas d’encrassement permanent important (graisse,
bitume, huile, poussière, fines particules de sable);
– en cas d’exposition à de fortes contraintes thermiques,
ou à la chaleur de contact ou de friction, se manifestant
par des traces de fonte visibles;
– si la structure de l’âme du ruban témoin de couleur
contrastée de la boucle d’encordement ou de la boucle
de repos devient visible (voir figure 10.2).
Les informations qui suivent donnent des indications sur la
durée de vie d’une longe de via ferrata par rapport à la fré-
quence d’utilisation. Il se peut cependant qu’il soit néces-
saire de remplacer la longe de via ferrata nettement plus tôt
que ce qui est indiqué si l’un des facteurs précités survient.
Durée de vie maximale d’une longe de via ferrata Mammut
(figure10.3):
1. Inutilisée: 10ans
2. Utilisation rare (une ou deux fois par an): 7ans maxi-
mum
3. Utilisation occasionnelle (une fois par mois): 5ans
maximum
4. Utilisation régulière (deux à trois fois par mois): 3ans

ATTENTION: Remplacez toujours l’ensemble de la longe
de via ferrata après une chute, même si le produit ne pré-
sente aucun signe de dommage visible. Si le produit pré-
sente des dommages visibles, l’ensemble de la longe doit
être remplacée, même si seuls quelques éléments semblent
être endommagés.
11 STOCKAGE ET TRANSPORT
Conditions de stockage idéales: dans un endroit sec et frais, à
l’abri de la lumière. Évitez toute exposition aux rayons directs
