3. Connect an RCA - RCA interconnect cable from either
one of the SUB OUT jacks on the RM-2 to the LEFT/MONO
inputonyoursubwoofer. Ifyouhavetwosubwoofers,connect
one cable to each subwoofer.
USING THE RM-2 TO SET BASS LEVEL
TheRM-2'sconvenienceinsettingthebasslevelofyourM&K
subwoofer can be used for various purposes.
Themostcommonpurposeistouseittoincreaseordecrease
bass levels depending on the source. Its calibrated control
makesiteasytoreturnthesubwoofertoyourreferencelevel.
Here's the procedure:
After connecting the RM-2 as described above, set its level
control to the 0 dB position. Then calibrate the level of the
subwooferbyadjustingtheBASSLEVELcontrolontheback
ofthesubwoofer. Do notadjustthe RM-2. Youcancalibrate
levels through listening tests, or by using test tones or noise
with a sound level meter or with a third-octave analyzer.
Once calibrated, any time you wish to change the amount of
bass, simply adjust the RM-2. Do not adjust the subwoofer.
TheRM-2 hasa rangeof plus or minus 21 dBof adjustment.
Any time you need to reset the bass output to the calibrated
level, all you have to do is set the RM-2 to the 0 dB position!
Anotheruse of theRM-2 isto control(and calibrate)the level
ofsubwoofers installedinlocationsthataredifficulttoaccess.
Inthesecases,youmaybeunabletocalibratebasslevelsby
usingtheBASSLEVELcontrolonthebackofthesubwoofer.
Under these circumstances, to use the RM-2, just set the
BASS LEVEL control on the back of the subwoofer(s) to
between the 12:00 (straight up) and about the 3:00 position.
Then use the RM-2 to calibrate the bass level.

levels, see your subwoofer owner's manual.
The M&K RM-2 allows you to use all M&K Powered Subwoof-
ers with components that do not have RCA-type subwoofer
outputjacks(especiallyfortheMX-125II,MX-5000THXII,MX-
350THX, MX-150THX, and V-125THX).
It also provides a convenient way to precisely fine tune and
control the level of your M&K powered subwoofer without
having to use the control on the subwoofer's back panel.
LOCATION OF THE RM-2
TheRM-2mustbeplacedclosetoyouramplifierorreceiver,so
that its input wires will reach the speaker output terminals of
your component. SPECIAL NOTE: Despite its full Faraday
shielding,in
rare
instances,whentheRM-2isveryclosetothe
poweramplifier,itmaybesensitivetohum. Ifyouhearsystem
hum after connecting the RM-2, move it away from any power
transformers in the receiver or amplifier.
WIRING THE RM-2
The RM-2 has three sets of connectors. From left to right:
RIGHT IN (- connection on top; + connection on bottom)
SUB OUT (2 jacks)
LEFT IN (- connection on top; + connection on bottom)
1. Connect the RIGHT IN wires attached to the RM-1 to the
Right Channel speaker output on your amp or receiver. Make
sure that the Red wire is connected to the (+) terminal on the
amplifierandthattheBlackwireisconnectedtothe(-)terminal
on the amplifier.
2. Connect the LEFT IN wires attached to the RM-1 to the
Right Channel speaker output on your amp or receiver. Make
sure that the Red wire is connected to the (+) terminal on the
amplifierandthattheBlackwireisconnectedtothe(-)terminal
on the amplifier.
