This service manual contains information about how to
service Exterior Projection 500.
Safety instructions
Before you carry out service work, read this document.
Installation and service work must comply with local
regulations and accepted codes of good practice.
Observe the safety instructions in the user manual for
the product.

Make sure that the tools below are available before you
start working on the product:
• ESD mat and wristband.
• Gloves
• Torx T10 screwdriver.
• Torx T20 screwdriver.
• Hex2 key.
• Hex5 key.
• Hex5.5 key.
• Hex6 key.
• Cutter
• Flatheaded plier.
• Small atheaded screwdriver.

Troubleshooting
Overview of error codes
Error message Cause Remedy
Err Gobo Wheel • Gobo wheel rotation hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, gobo wheel motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Gobo ind/rot • Gobo index rotation hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, gobo index rotation motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Prism Wheel • Prism wheel hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, prism wheel motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Prism ind/rot • Prism rotation hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, prism wheel motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Fan • The fan does not run or there is no connection. • Check fan and connections.
Err Color wheel • Color wheel hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Color wheel • Focus hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Prism/Frost • Prism and frost wheel hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, motor, connection, missing magnet.
Err Prism rot • Prism rotation hall sensor read error. • Check hall sensor, motor, connection, missing magnet.

Repair and replacement
Opening the front lens cover
1. Remove the six Hex5 screws (1).
2. Unclip the safety wire (2).
3. Remove the front lens cover.
NOTE! Make sure the front lid sealing gasket (3)
is clean and in proper condition. If not, replace it.

Replacing the PSU assembly
1. Remove the front lens cover. See “Opening the
front lens cover” on page 8.
2. Remove the two Torx20 screws (1).
3. Disconnect the three mains wires (2).
NOTE! Use a atheaded plier, if necessary.
4. Disconnect the four DC wires (3).
5. Cut the cable tie (4).

6. Remove the screw (5) for the grounding wire.

7. Pull out the PSU assembly.
NOTE! The mains wires and the grounding wire
are routed (6) under the PSU cap to avoid EMC
intereference.
8. Replace the PSU assembly.
9. Follow the procedure in reverse order.

Replacing the front lens
1. Remove the front lens cover. See “Opening the
front lens cover” on page 8.
2. Remove the ve Torx20 screws (1).
3. Replace the lens.
4. Follow the procedure in reverse order.
Replacing the focus lens
1. Remove the front lens cover. See “Opening the
front lens cover” on page 8.
2. Remove the front lens. See “Replacing the front
lens” on page 10.
3. Remove the two Torx10 screws (1).
NOTE! Pull the focus lens towards yourself.
4. Replace the focus lens.
NOTE! Use gloves.
5. Follow the procedure in reverse order.

3. Disconnect the mainboard power connector (1).

6. Remove the four Hex5 screws (4).
7. Unclip the safety wire (5).
8. Remove the top lid.
NOTE! Make sure that the top lid sealing gasket is
clean and in proper condition.
9. Disconnect the three connectors for the effect
module (7).
10. Cut the three cable ties (8).

11. Disconnect the LED power connector (9) and the
LED temperature sensor connector (10).

12. Remove the middle plate assembly.
13. Follow the procedure in reverse order.
Replacing the focus lens motor
1. Cut the cable ties (1).
2. Disconnect the connector (2).
3. Remove the four Torx10 screws (3).
4. Replace the focus lens motor.
5. Follow the procedure in reverse order.

Replacing the timing belt
1. Remove the focus lens motor. See “Replacing the
focus lens motor” on page 13.
2. Remove the two Torx10 screws (1).
3. Replace the timing belt (2).
4. Follow the procedure in reverse order.
NOTE! To tighten the timing belt, push the focus
lens motor assembly (3) to the right.
Replacing the heat board
1. Remove the four Torx10 screws (1).
2. Remove the two connectors (2).
3. Replace the heat board.
4. Follow the procedure in reverse order.
Replacing the LED driver board
5. Remove the four Torx10 screws (1).
6. Disconnect the connectors (2).
7. Cut the cable tie (3).
8. Replace the LED driver board.
9. Follow the procedure in reverse order.

3. Remove the four Torx10 screws (3).

2. Turn the middle plate to access the fan.
3. Remove the LED driver board assembly (2).

3. Replace the prism wheel motor.

2. Remove the shaft clips (1).

NOTE! Push the motor to the side to fasten the
timing belt before you fasten the screws.
