DiMAX Navigator Operation
Cable Operation:
Connect the Navigator with the bus
cable to the Central Station. The
Navigator will start automatically.
Wireless Operation:
Three (3) type AA batteries are required.
Start the Navigator by pressing the F key.
Holding the F key (>1sec) will turn it off again.

The keyboard numers are used for main and auxiliary functions. Switching
between the main function display and the auxiliary function display:
- F: Assigns functions from F1-F8 to F9-F16, etc.)
- M1: Keyboard is assigned to auxiliary functions.
EMERGENCY STOP:
- RIGHT STOP Key triggers Emergency-Stop and cuts current to the track
immediately, both STOP keys will flash & the auxiliary display will show
"STOP" as a system message.
- LEFT STOP Key RELEASES the Emergency-Stop.
Loco Operation:
Press M2 to enter the loco selection mode and
enter a loco address. Confirm with M3.
The selected locomotive may now be run
with the dial knob. Turning the knob right
& left controls direction/speed of the loco.
If the knob is in centered position the loco
stands still ("speed step 000" is shown in
the display). The loco direction is shown
with arrows in front of the speed steps.

Function Key #9 (lower left side) triggers the light function of the assigned
locomotive.
Functions are triggered with the keys F1 to F8. Press the F key to
switch the function layers from F1...F8 to F9...F16 and back again.

Pressing and briefly holding M2 enters the "Loco Selection Mode". Enter
the loco address using the keyboard, for example press "25", and press M3
to select the locomotive with the address of "25". (The locomotive is assigned
to the Navigator by an address previously set in the decoder.) The Navigator
will automatically start running loco "25".
Changing the Loco Selected by Using Its Address:
Previously configured locomotives are stored in
the Central Station & the Navigator, and may
be selected using the Loco Selection Mode.
Saved locos may be selected by pressing M1
(up) & M2 (down) to scroll the database.
Confirm your selection by pressing M3.
Change Loco and/or Configuration
Re-selecting running locomotives ("catching"): When changing operation
between running locomotives you will have to catch up with the actual
speed of the re-selected locomotive. After re-selecting a locomotive, the
display will show the actual speed of the locomotive (speed steps) and the
driving direction. The wheel knob will flash in the driving direction. To
catch up with the locomotives speed turn the dial in the flashing direction
until the flashing stops (and the speed step setting changes). The locomotive
is now re-selected and can be operated as usual.

Operating an Analog Locomotive:
The Navigator supports operating an
analog loco using “0” as its address.
The analog operating feature will show
an analog throttle as loco picture. Loco
configuration programming is not
available for analog locos. Analog Loco Screen

Press the M1 button until “Switchroute”
shows in the Secondary Function area.
Enter the number of the desired
switchroute, and press the Left or Right
Secondary Function arrow keys to
trigger both switches in the route. Verify

Number of the individual switch, and

Navigator Configuration (for Reference Only)
Backlight: This menu sets the intensity of the
backlight withM2.Thefollowingsettingsareavailable:
•0 = no backlight
• 1=Display+dialknobilluminated
•2 = Keyboard also illuminated
• 3=everythingwith50%dimming
The backlight of the centered zero point is always lighted and cannot be turned off.
Language Settings: DO NOT USE / CHANGE THIS FUNCTION!
EMERGENCY STOP: This configuration has been preset!
- RIGHT STOP Key triggers Emergency-Stop and cuts current to the track immediately,
both STOP keys will flash & the auxiliary display will shpw "STOP" as system message.
- LEFT STOP Key RELEASES the Emergency-Stop.
Device ID (Identification number):
- Cable Connection: IDs are assigned automatically.
- Radio Control operation: IDs need to be assigned manually.
- R/C IDs & cable Connection IDs are independent from each
other. After entering the IDs and confirmation with M2 the
Navigator will restart automatically.
Preprogrammed Assignments are:
Club Unit #1; Club Unit #2; Rich D. #3; Bob R. #4.
Locking Function: DO NOT USE / CHANGE THIS FUNCTION!
Frequency Band: US - for US / North America (915MHz)
R/C Configuration:
Channel Selection: Four (4) R/C channels are available. After
selecting a new radio channel the Navigator will automatically
shut down and needs to be started manually. Make sure the
radio channel of each Receiver is also set to the same channel!
Preprogrammed Club Channel Assignment is Channel 1.
Navigator R/C Shutoff Time: The shut off time
defines a timer that counts down when not used until the
Navigator shuts off in order to save battery. All active
locos will be canceled when shutting down.
Preprogrammed Club Time is 15 Minutes.
Recharging Function: With rechargeable batteries
(NiMH or NiCd) use only in teathered /cable mode -
never use non-rechargeable batteries. This may destroy
batteries & Navigator. Danger of Explosion!
Preprogrammed Club Setting is "Off" (X), for operation
with 3 x 1.5V Type AA Batteries..
