ATTENUATOR II
Some customers have asked for a step less ATTENUATOR so here it is. Here you have all
common impedances available together with a step less control. Add both a speaker
simulated and a full range line out and you have a unit that will work both live and in the
studio.

DIRECT Recording
1) Connect amp speaker out to ATTENUATOR input
2) Set impedances to match
3) Set Attenuator level pot to minimum
4) Connect Line Out to mixer/audio card and adjust speaker simulation
ATTENUATOR
1) Connect amp speaker out to ATTENUATOR input
2) Make sure your amp is matching your ATTENUATOR
3) Connect ATTENUATOR speaker out to speaker cab
4) Adjust attenuation level
Do not block the ventilation holes.
Avoid mismatching impedance as that will put unnecessary strain on your amp
and can lead to damage of transformers and tubes.
Be aware that most 100W amps can reach 150W when cranked.

FAQ
Can I use this unit with any amp or speaker?
It supports 2Ω-4Ω-8Ω-16Ωamplifiers and for safest operating, the speaker should match
amplifier and attenuator. 2-1 speaker mismatch with modern amps will in most cases be
acceptable.
Is there a Load position?
Yes, set the volume control to minimum and you can now remove the speaker cable.
Will impedance stay constant regardless of level settings?
No, impedance will vary slightly depending on the setting of the volume pot. It’s
reactance will also vary with attenuation.
Will this unit work with hi power amps such as a Marshall Major?
With hi powered amps there is a 200W version available, which is a better choice.
Can I connect Line Out to a microphone input?
Yes, units produced from 2016 and forwards will have a low impedance output that will
work with low impedance inputs such as a microphone input. If you need speaker
simulation with more fine control and a balanced output you can always use our
dedicated speaker emulator “SIM” with the ATTENUATOR.

2 year limited warranty
The warranty applies to defective material and workmanship and for the original purchaser when
bought from MASTERPLANT or authorised dealer. Opening the unit will void the limited warranty and
any required service or update must be performed by MASTERPLANT. A copy of the original receipt
must be included with the unit. Warranty will not cover damage caused by misuse or accidents. It will
not cover any damage inflicted to other equipment resulting from impedance mismatching or any
other faulty use.
