BEFORE USE
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
■INDICATIONS
This instruction manual and the product use various indications to help you use this instrument
safely and properly. The following describes those indications.
WARNING: Negligence of this could lead to a death or serious injury.
CAUTION: Negligence of this could lead to an injury, damage your proper-
ties, or cause created data lost.
Describes operations which may cause damage to the instrument and require a
repair, or operations which require resetting the machine, etc., to restore the
condition of the instrument.
Describes the points of operation and tips.
Describes a functional precaution.
■SYMBOLS
Denotes “What you should be aware of”.
Denotes “What you must not do”. An indication in or near this symbol shows a
specific prohibition.
Denotes “What you must do”. An indication in this symbol shows a specific in-
struction.
WARNING
Clean regularly the plug of power cord. Dust on the plug could cause a fire.
Obtain the power directly from a single plug socket. Avoid connecting many wires to
one plug socket. It could lead to a fire.
Do not connect/disconnect a power plug with a wet hand. It could cause an electric
shock.
Do not operate the instrument which is still out of order. If it is operated in an out-of or-
der state such as it is smoking, emitting an abnormal sound, or smelling funny, it could
cause a fire or electric shock. Disconnect a power plug immediately from socket and
contact your dealer/distributor for a repair.
The lithium battery is used inside for memory backup. Never replace the lithium battery
by yourself.
Contact your dealer/distributor for replacement.

CAUTION
●The data stored in the internal memory or the memory card cannot be stored per-
manently. We will not be responsible for damages and lost profits caused by loss of
data attributed to battery consumption, trouble, repair, and so on.
●Use the memory card only for ER-2200PC. Storing other data in the memory card
may cause damage to the data.
●Do not remove the memory card while exporting time data to it.
Removal could cause damage to the data in the memory card.
●Format the memory card by Windows 98, Me, NT or 2000.
Do not format the memory card by Windows XP.
If you format the memory card by Windows 2000, be sure to choose “FAT” as
the ”File sytem”.
Never disassemble or modify this instrument. It could cause a fire, electric shock, or
trouble.
●Do not insert foreign substances such as finger, pen, wire, paper into this instru-
ment. It could damage the instrument or cause a fire.
●Operate the instrument only on a correct supply voltage. Otherwise, it could trouble
the instrument.
●Do not splash water or chemicals on the instrument. If water gets inside the instru-
ment, disconnect the power plug immediately from the plug socket and contact your
dealer/distributor for a repair. It could damage the instrument or cause a fire or elec-
tric shock.
●Do not put paper or cloth on the instrument. It could cause a fire.
●Do not place any heavy material on power cord. It could cause a damage and a fire.
●Never touch metallic part of the instrument.
●Never touch the printer head. It is very hot just after printing and you could get
burned. Also stain of your hand could cause a trouble to the printer head.
●When the instrument is not going to be operated for a long time period, be sure to
disconnect the power cord from the power socket for your safety.
●When disconnecting the power cord, be sure to hold the power plug. Do not pull on
power cord, or the cord could be broken and cause a fire or electric shock.
ACCESSORIES
This instrument comes with the following accessories. Confirm them before use.

◆Do not drop or hit the instrument.
◆Install this instrument away from the following places:
A Any place that is not level or that is subject to vibration.
B Any place that has dust or high humidity. Keep beverages and
liquid containers away from this instrument.
C Any place that the temperature goes below 0 C/32 F or over 40
C/104 F.
D Any place that catches direct sunlight or is located close to a
heat source.
◆Do not insert cards or paper other than the specified time card
for this instrument. Do not use time cards that are bent or torn.
◆Be sure to use a dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use solvents (al-
cohol, benzene, thinner, etc.) or a damp cloth.
◆Do not re-ink cartridge. Replace with ink ribbon cassette
ER-IR101.
◆Do not hang this instrument on a wall using anything other than
the included plate for wall mounting.
◆The socket outlet should be installed near the instrument and be
easily accessible.

DISPLAY LAYOUT
OPERATION
WARNING
Install this instrument on a level place.
Do not install on or near a place subject to vibration.
1. REGISTRATION OF TIME CARD
Before using ER-2200PC, you have to register the time cards for every period. The Card
Number and the Period are printed on the registered time cards. ( →See on page 17)
2. AUTOMATIC OPERATION
ER-2200PC shifts the column for printing automatically in the order of IN1, OUT1, IN2, OUT2,
IN3 and OUT3 without the user pressing any external keys.
AInsert time card to the position where automatic feed starts.
BTime card will be ejected automatically after printing the time.
3. MANUAL OPERATION
ER-2200PC allows manual operation for shifting the column to print.
A Select a desired column to print on the time card by pressing ,
, , , , or key.
B symbol appears at the selected column on the display.
C Insert time card to the position where automatic feed starts.
DTime card will be ejected automatically after printing the time.

4. EXPORTING TIME DATA
ER-2200PC can export the time data to the memory card (Compact flash card).
You can calculate this data on your PC. ( →See on page 18)
AInsert the memory card (Compact flash card) into the Card Slot.
BPress the [MEMORY CARD] key for 3 seconds. The time data is then exported to the
memory card.
1. Do not keep holding the time card during printing.
2. Do not pull or push time card by hand.
3. Do not cover any of the small holes at both edges on time card.
1. ER-2200PC doesn’t allow printing in the same column
repeatedly in the same day.
2. When “”appears on the display, the time card was
inserted incorrectly.

TO SET OR CHANGE DATA
When setting or changing any data, the “Key-Card” must be used to
initiate the change.
Operation
A Insert the “Key-Card”. The symbol appears on the display.
B After setting or changing the data, insert the “Key-Card” again.
The symbol disappears.
Keep the “Key-Card” in a safe place to prevent it from
being damaged, lost or used by an unauthorized per-
son.
If you do not touch any keys for 60 seconds,
the symbol disappears automatically.

SETTING MACHINE NUMBER, MACHINE MODE NUMBER AND
PAY CLOSING DATE (MODE 1)
Operation
AInsert the “Key-Card”. The symbol appears on the display to indicate the setting mode
is on.
BPress the “MODE 1” key. The symbol appears at “MODE 1” on the display.
CPress the or key to set or change each item.
DPress the “SET” key after changing each item. The display will move to next item in the or-
der of Machine Number, Machine Mode and Pay Closing Date. When the “SET” key is
pressed at the end, the buzzer beeps twice and the display returns to the start of the setting
mode.

1. Setting Machine Mode Number
After setting the “Machine Number”, “Machine Mode Number” is shown on the display. Press
the or key to select the desired “Machine Mode Number” from the following table.

2. Setting Pay Closing Date
After setting “Machine Mode Number”, “Pay Closing Date” is shown on the display.

Press the or key to select the Pay Closing Date. When the display shows the desired
closing date, press the SET key.

Weekly
Press the or key to select the Pay Closing Date (from today to the next 6 days). When
the display shows the desired closing date, press the SET key.

Bi-weekly
Press the or key to select the Pay Closing Date (from today to the next 13 days).
When the display shows the desired closing date, and press the SET key.

1. The time is printed only in 24-hour format.
2. When setting in the Laid Down Position, only 24-hour format is displayed.
3. If the “CANCEL” key is pressed while setting data, the display returns to the
start of the setting mode without registering the changes.

Operation
AInsert the “Key-Card”. The symbol appears on the display to indicate the setting mode.
BPress the “MODE 2” key. The symbol appears at “MODE 2” on the display.
CPress the or key to change Year, Month, Date, Hour and Minute.
DPress the “SET” key after changing each item. When the “SET” key is pressed at the end,
the buzzer beeps twice and the display returns to the start of the setting mode.

Clock starts every “00” seconds, when “SET” key is pressed at the end.

AInsert the “Key-Card”. The symbol appears on the display to indicate the setting mode is
on.
BPress the “MODE 3 key. The symbol appears at “MODE 3 on the display.
CPress the or key to set each item.
DPress the “SET” key after changing each item. The display will moves to next item in the
order of Machine Number, Machine Mode and Pay Closing Date. When the “SET” key is
pressed at the end, the buzzer beeps twice and the display returns to the start of the setting
mode.
NOTE : The time is displayed in only 24-Hour Format.

2. Setting Daylight Saving Time
After setting “Starting time of Overtime work”, the display moves to ”Starting Date of Daylight
Saving Time”.
NOTE : When setting the last week of the month, set “L” for the last week even if the last week is
the 4th week.
[Example] Starting Date of Daylight Saving Time : Sunday of the last week in March.
Ending Date of Daylight Saving Time : Sunday of the last week in October.
NOTE :1. During the period of Daylight Saving Time, the symbol appears on the display.
2. Once set, Daylight Saving Time will be adjusted automatically from the following year,
in accordance with the set data.

LATE-IN, EARLY-OUT, OVERTIME WORKING AND NEXT DAY
OVERTIME SYMBOLS
ER-2200PC can automatically print the symbols Late-In ( ), Early-Out ( ), Over Time
Working ( ) at the right position, in accordance with the set time of IN1 ~OUT3 (Code No. 2
~07) and the start time of Overtime Working (Code No. 8).
Also, when leaving work over the Line Shift Time during or after a midnight shift, ER-2200PC can
print the time on the same line of the day by pressing the key. ( →See on page 7)

REGISTERING TIME CARDS
Registering time cards is required before you use them with ER-2200PC.
You can register 50 time cards for the current period and/or the next period.
The card number and the period are printed on the registered time cards.
Operation
APress the “THIS PERIOD” or “NEXT PERIOD” key for 3 seconds. The buzzer beeps once
and the display turns to the “REGISTERING TIME CARD” MODE.
BPress the or key to change the desired Card Number.
CInsert a new time card. The Card Number and the Period are printed on the time card. The
displayed Card Number changes automatically to the next number.
When continuing to register, insert after card.
DPress the “CANCEL” key to end registering time cards. The display will show the time and
date.
1. When the display turns to the “REGISTERING TIME
CARD” MODE, the number of following the last regis-
tered number is displayed automatically.
2. When the Card Number is blinking, the displayed
number has been already registered. In this case, if you
insert a new time card, the Card Number is printed with
a *mark. This means that the card was reissued. Af-
ter that, you cannot use the old card with the same
Card Number and without the *mark anymore.

EXPORTING TIME DATA TO THE MEMORY CARD
Operation
ARemove the Connector Cap and insert the
memory card (Compact flash card).
B Remove the front cover.
CPress the “MEMORY CARD” key for 3 seconds. The buzzer
beeps once and [CArd] is shown on the display.
DAfter about 60 seconds, the buzzer beeps twice, and the display shows time and date
automatically.
EPush the eject button to remove the memory card.
While [CArd] is displayed, the time recorder cannot be operated.
CAUTION
•Use the memory card only for ER-2200PC. Storing other data in
the memory card may cause damage to the data.
•Do not remove the memory card, while exporting time data to it. Re-
moval could cause damage to the data in the memory card.
•Format the memory card by Windows 98, Me, NT or 2000.
Do not format the memory card by Windows XP.
If you format the memory card by Windows 2000, be sure to choose
“FAT” the “File system”.

REPLACING THE INK RIBBON CASSETTE
Use only ER-IR101 ink ribbon cassettes.
Replace the ink ribbon cassette every 8 to 12 months as follows.
WARNING
Never touch the printer head. It is very hot just after printing and you
could get burned.
Disconnect the power cord from the plug socket.
Wash your hands/body immediately with soap if the ink ribbon rubs off
on them.
Procedure
A Disconnect the power cord from the plug
socket.
Open and remove the front cover.
BHolding (A), (B) and (C) as shown, lift
the cassette out. And pull up together.
CTurn the knob of the new ink ribbon cas-
sette in the direction indicated by the
arrow to remove any slack in the ribbon.
DInsert the cassette properly as illustrated
so that ribbon tape is set between the
Mask Plate and the Printer Head. Then
turn the knob again to remove the slack
in the ribbon.
EClose the front cover and connect the power cord.
