A 5KV Disconnect is recommended on the line side to assure the ability to service the WS-Series product safely and
expediently.
Disconnect must be “off” during installation. Do not install SPD (Surge Protective Device) with power ‘hot’.
Do not connect any two SPD conductors to the same bus. The SPD may be damaged and warranty voided by im-
proper connection
Approximately 36 inches of conductor is provided for installation. Cut wires as short as possible and keep free of
sharp bends. Sharp bends in the wire create impedance. For optimum performance lead wire should be as short as
possible and free of sharp bends
Do not add wire to the SPD device. This will impair the performance of the SPD, and will void warranty. Do not use
wire nuts, kernies, etc. when installing SPD.
ALWAYS RUN CONDUCTORS IN RIGID CONDUIT. DO NOT USE FLEX. The flex could “nick” the wire and cause
significant problems with the performance and safety.
Do not modify the VSPD in any way. The VSPD may be damaged and void warranty.
Delta to Wye or Wye to Delta transformers shield your system from utility faults.
Issues Concerning Proper Grounding
Grounding Systems are very important for the optimum performance of your electrical system. It is mandatory
that a system ground be of low resistance and impedance with no potential difference. Having a proper grounding
system, in conjunction with quality surge protection, can ensure a longer life to your equipment. Your grounding
system should meet NEC requirements
