atlowerlisteninglevels.Thiscontourisaccurately
modeledafterthefamilyof"equalloudness"curves
identifiedbyFletcherandMunson.Atthefully
counterclockwisedetentedFLATposition,the
loudnesscontouriselectricallyflat.Asthecontrol
isturnedclockwise,bothbassandtreblefrequen-
ciesincreaseinthecorrectproportion.Thecontour
isnotaffectedbydifferentsettingsoftheVOLUME
control.AftersettingtheVOLUMEcontrolforthe
desiredlisteninglevel,adjusttheloudnesscontrol
forthepreferredcompensation.
TAPEPUSHBUTTONS:
IMPORTANT:WhentheC 30isoperatedwith
eitherMONITORpushbuttonattheINposition,the
programheardwillbethatfromthetaperecorders
only.Signalfromanyothersourcewillnotbeheard
fromtheloudspeakers.Tohearanyothersource,
makesuretheMONITORpushbuttonsareOUT.
TheMONITORswitchesaremechanicallyin-
terlockedtopreventsimultaneousmonitoringfrom
twotaperecorders.Ifonebuttonisattheinposi-

trolwillinterferewitheachother.
POWERON:
ThePOWERONpushbuttonsharesACpower
control,througha currentdetectingswitchcircuit,
withtheACpowerswitchona turntable.Ontherear
paneltheTURNTABLEAUTO/MANUALswitch
selectsthemodeofoperation.Whentheswitchisin
theAUTOpositionanda turntableispluggedinto
thegreenACpoweroutlet,theACpowertothe
preampandtotheblackACpoweroutletscanbe
controlledbytheturntableon/offswitch.Whenthe
turntablepowerswitchisturnedon,thepreamplifier
andtheSWITCHEDblackACpoweroutletsareturn-
edon.Thesystemwillremainonuntiltheturntable
isturnedoff.ThePOWERONpushbuttonswitch
parallelstheautomaticturntablepowercontrol
feature.ThePOWERONpushbuttonisusedtoturn
poweronandoffwhentheturntableisnotused.The
POWERONpushbuttonmustbeoutoroffforthe
turntabletocontroltheACpower.
IntheMANUALpositiononlythePOWERON
pushbuttonwillturnpoweronorofftothe
preamplifierandtheblackACpoweroutlets.
