The Cable to Connect
You can connect MEDELI module to a computer (or a USB host device) by using MIDI
Cable or USB Cable.
If you would like to use USB port to transmit MIDI data, we suggest you use USB Cable
like this:
If you would like to use MIDI port to transmit MIDI data, you are allowed to use MIDI Cable
like this:
You will find a MIDI OUT port and a MIDI IN port on the rear panel of MEDELI module. If
your computer or USB host device has a USB jack, you can simply connect the USB
interface to the USB jack and plug the MIDI IN and OUT cables into your MEDELI module.
yBe sure that if you would like to transmit MIDI data to computer and record your
song to MIDI sequencer software that has been installed on computer. You
should plug MIDI IN cable to MIDI OUT port.
yIf you would like to use MEDELI module as a sound source, and you should plug
MIDI OUT cable to MIDI IN port.

How to Connect to a Computer Successfully
Step1a. Connect MEDELI module to your computer (WinXP,VISTA,Win7,Mac) by using
USB cable. The USB port on MEDELI module is a plug&play interface, you do not need to
install any software driver.
Step1b. Connect MEDELI module to your computer (WinXP,VISTA,Win7,Mac) by using
MIDI cable.
Be sure that your windows OS is compatible to your MIDI cable, if your OS does not been
supported by your MIDI cable, you’d better to visit the MIDI cable website and see if there
is an updated driver for your MIDI cable.
Step2. Power on MEDELI module.Then the MEDELI MUDULE will be recognized by your
computer as “USB Audio Device”. When you open the “Device Manager” window, “Medeli
e-Drum“, “Medeli e-Organ” or “USB Audio Device” will appear on it.
For example, when I connect MEDELI drum module to a computer, it firstly prompt
“Installing device driver software”, then to show “Medeli e-Drum Device driver software
installed successfully”, and when I open the “Device Manager” window, “Medeli
e-Drum“ appears on it.

yIf you are the first time to connect the MEDELI module to your computer, the
Windows OS will ask you search the driver online(Internet), it will give a window
prompt “Windows needs to install driver software for your e-drum”, and you are
allowed to press the msg “locate and install driver software” , then Windows will
guide you through the process of installing driver software for the USB device.

yIf you are the first time to connect, but the Windows OS does not ask you search
the driver online(Internet) automatically, you should open “Device Manager”
window, press “Scan” button.

yThen, you will see “USB Audio Device” (when the driver be installed, it display
“Medeli e-Drum”), press the icon “USB Audio Device” and check to select
“Update Driver Software”.

yAfter that, it will gives a window prompt ”Update Driver Software”, and the
Windows will guide you through the process of installing driver software for the
USB device.

How to Use MIDI Sequencer Software to Record Song
Step1. Before open your MIDI sequencer software, please make sure that the MEDELI
module be connected to your computer successfully.
Step2.Open your sequencer software, then “USB Audio Device” will be shown in the list of
input MIDI devices.
Step3. Check to select the “USB Audio Device”, then it’s ready to record your own song.
Common MIDI sequencer software, including Reason, Cakewalk, Sonar, Ableton Live and
etc. Here, we will introduce you how to select "USB Audio Device" for Input.

Step1. Pull down options menu and choose surface locking. You will see the popup like

Step2. Press the button “open surface preferences”, you will see the popup like Fig7.

Step3. Press the button “add”, you will see the popup like Fig8. Choose <others> in
manufacture menu, and choose ”USB Audio Device” in MIDI Input.

How to Use MEDELI Module as a Sound Source -Connect to Other
USB Host Device
Step1. Connect MEDELI module to other USB host device by using USB cable or MIDI
cable.
Step2. Power on MEDELI module. And make sure that the MEDELI module be connected
to other USB host device successfully.
Step3. Play the MIDI song through other USB host device.
Step4. The music data (MIDI data) will be transmitted from other USB host device to
MEDELI module through MIDI cable or USB cable, the USB host device music sound will
be heard by MEDELI module.
How to Use MEDELI Module as a Sound Source -Connect to a
Computer
Step1. Connect MEDELI module to your computer by using USB cable or MIDI cable.
Step2. Power on MEDELI module. And make sure that the MEDELI module be connected
to your computer successfully.
Step3. Play the MIDI song through the MIDI player on your computer.
Step4. The music data (MIDI data) will be transmitted from computer to MEDELI module
through MIDI cable or USB cable, the computer music sound will be heard by MEDELI
module.

Trouble Shooting
yThe MEDELI module can’t be seen on the list of Device Manager(can’t be recognized
by computer)
Please take How to Connect to a Computer Successfully for reference.
yThe MEDELI module can’t be seen on the list of MIDI device of MIDI sequencer
software
Please make sure that the MEDELI module has been connected to your computer by
using MIDI cable or USB cable at first, then to power on MEDELI module, at last to open
the MIDI sequencer software.
yNothing be recorded to MIDI Sequencer Software
Please check if you select the MIDI device on MIDI sequencer software or not. You can
take How to Use MIDI Sequencer Software to Record Song for reference.
yLocal kit can’t be playback (drum module only)
Please make sure the GM mode you select.
If you choose “GM ON” mode to receive midi message, the MIDI message the drum
module received will be recognized as “GM kit” sounds and play.
If you choose “GM OFF” mode to receive midi message, the MIDI message it received will
be recognized as “local kit” sounds and play.
For example, the kit sound will be processed in accordance with the MEDELI MIDI note
arrangement. That is, if “36” be received, it will sound the KICK voice. Please take MIDI
Note Table for reference.
