MediTek D120 User manual

User Guide
(E120, D120, D160 and DSP100 Models)
All MediTek lifts are designed for use by one person only during travel. Any misuse of the stairlift may result in serious injury or death. It is recommended that your
stairlift is serviced annually by a competent person - speak to your stairlift supplier to arrange this. Use of spare parts for your stairlift other than ofcial MediTek
products are not permitted and may affect the safety of the stairlift. MediTek stairlifts are not deemed to be suitable as a means of evacuation transport during a re.
Using Your Joystick
Whilst sitting on the stairlift (with your
seatbelt fastened), push and hold the
joystick in the direction you wish to travel.
After a slight safety delay, the stairlift will
begin moving in the desired direction.
The lift will continue to move until the
user releases the joystick, or the lift
arrives at its destination at the top or
bottom of the stairs.
Using Your Remotes
You can also use your remote control
units to operate your stairlift. Press the red
button on the remote to move upwards
and the bottom black button to move the
stairlift down the stairs.
PLEASE NOTE: The sensor for the
remote system is located in the arm of
the seat. Ensure the remote is pointed at
the arm to allow optimum performance.
The isolation switch
The isolation switch enables you to switch
off the stairlift and disable the use of any
of the controls. When the switch shows
the green band (as shown in image) the
lift is ON. If there is no colour showing, the
lift has been turned OFF.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not advise you to
turn off the lift as it will NOT be able to
charge.
How does my
Stairlift Charge?
Your stairlift is continuously charged
along the full length of the rail by the
copper charging strip. If you have a
power-folding hinge please see section 8
for more details on charging your stairlift.
.
What do I need to know
about the hinge?
(D160, D120 and DSP100 only)
If your stairlift includes a powered-hinge, this
will raise on arrival at the top of the stairs and
gradually lower on your request to go down the
stairs before your journey begins.
Your rail will have a charging strip along the
larger part of your rail up until your hinge starts.
You will need to keep your lift above the folding
section of the hinge to keep the stairlift on
charge. You can do this by using the remote
control unit to send the lift upwards.
If the stairlift is not parked on the charging strip
you will hear an intermittent beep from the
carriage and the Digital Display will show “OFF
CHARGE”.
Barrier Arm
Every lift has a tilt switch incorporated in
to the downside arm for safety. If your arm
is not in the correct downwards position
your stairlift will not move.
Key Switch
On the underside of the digital display arm you will nd a key switch,
this must be turned to the ON position for your stairlift to be used.
Your display will show “SWITCHED OFF” if it is in the OFF position.
If you remove the key, please keep it a safe location.
Holding Button
The holding button (underneath the
opposite arm to the key switch) can be
used in an emergency to immediately
stop the stairlift during travel, should the
need arise. When used, your display will
show “HOLDING SWITCH” and the light
will come on. You will need to re-press the
switch to start using your stairlift again.

Powered-Swivel
If your lift has a powered-swivel option your seat can
be automatically swivelled at the top of the stairs by
using your joystick or remote control.
On your arrival at the top of you stairs, release the
joystick and then re-press it in the same direction
(this will be the same with your remote). Your chair
will begin to swivel automatically. Once the turn has
completed, you can safely vacate your chair.
When you are ready to go back downstairs press
the joystick and your seat will rst swivel back to its
regular position, then once you release the joystick
and re-press in the same direction your stairlift will
begin to descend the stairs.
Handwinding Operation
In the event of a mains failure your stairlift should
be able to run for several journeys. However, if your
stairlift is in an inconvenient location it is possible to
manuallywindthestairliftwiththehandwinderprovided.
Please follow the below steps:
1. Turn the stairlift off using the ON/OFF switch
2. Remove the white stopper from the cream cover
3. Insert the handwinder in the hole
4. Turn clockwise to move the stairlift upwards and
anti-clockwise to move the stairlift down.
Changing Remote Batteries
MediTek recommends the batteries are
replaced frequently to enable optimum
operation of your stairlift.
To change the batteries, please follow the
below steps:
1. Remove the rear battery
compartment from the unit
2. Remove the batteries
3. Replace with a fresh set of 2x 1.5v AAA
batteries
4. Replace the rear battery
compartment
Using Your Seatbelt
MediTek provides a seatbelt with every
stairlift for your safety. You must wear your
seatbelt on every trip.
For retractable and lap belts simply click the
two halves together around you whilst
sitting in the travel position. You will hear an
audible click, indicating that the belt has
locked into place.
When you have arrived at your
destination depress both sides of the
clasp (lap belt) or press the release
button (retractable) allowing the two halves
to separate.
For a ve-point harness, your dealer will
demonstrate this on installation.

for you to exit.
Just lift the lever and turn the chair until it locks in
one of the two available positions. Ensure the lever
has locked back into position before you vacate your
chair.
Please note, the stairlift will not move up or down the
stairs whilst the chair is swivelled out.
