BEFORE LIGHTING
Inspectthegassupplyhosespriortoturning onthegas.Ifthereisevidenceofcuts, wear, orabrasion,it must
bereplaced priortouse. . Itmustbeusedwitha2, 8kParegulator thatcomplieswiththerequirements
ofSANS1237.
Onlythepressureregulatorandhoseassemblysuppliedwiththeunitshouldbeused.Neversubstitute
regulatorsforthosesuppliedwiththegrill.Contactcustomerserviceforproperreplacement.
Screwthe regulatorontothe cylinder.Leakcheckthehoseandregulatorconnectionswithasoap andwater
solutionbeforeoperatingthegrill(See “LeakTesting”instructionsonpage 18).
Donotturnonthe gasattheLPgascylinderunlessthegashoseisproperlyconnectedtotheside burnergas
pipesystemand allburnervalvesareinthe “OFF”position.
Keepaspraybottleofsoapywaternearthe grillandcheck the connectionsbeforeeachuse.
WARNING
Failuretoproperlyplacethe burneroverthe orifice
couldcauseafiretooccurbehindand beneaththe
valvepanel,therebydamagingthegrill andmaking
it unsafetooperate.

When properlycaredfor,yourgrillwillprovide safe,reliableserviceformanyyears. However, extremecare
mustbe usedasthe grillproducesintenseheatthatcanincreaseaccidentpotential.
When usingthisappliancebasicsafetypracticesmustbefollowed, includingthe following:
Donotrepairorreplaceanypart ofthe grill unlessspecificallyrecommended inthismanual.Allotherservice
shouldbereferred toaqualified technician.
The grillisforoutdooruseonly.
The grillisnotintendedtobeinstalled inoronrecreationalvehiclesand/orboats.
Childrenshouldnotbeleft alone orunattendedinanareawherethe grillisbeing used.Donotallowchildren
tosit,standorplayonoraround thegrillat anytime.
Donotstoreitemsofinteresttochildrenaround orbelowthegrillorcart.Donotallowchildrentocrawlinside
the cart.
Neverletclothing, potholdersorotherflammablematerialscomeincontact withortoo closetoanygrate,
burnerorhotsurfaceuntilit hascooled.The fabriccouldignite, causingseriouspersonalinjury.
Forpersonalsafety,wearproperapparel.Loosefitting garmentsorsleevesshouldneverbewornwhileusing
thisappliance. Somesyntheticfabricsarehighlyflammableandshouldnotbewornwhilecooking.
Onlycertaintypesofglass,ceramic, earthenware,orotherglazedutensilsaresuitableforgrill use.Other
typesofmaterialsmayshatterwithsuddentemperaturechanges.Useonlylowormediumheat settingsin
accordancewiththemanufacturer’sguidelines.
Donotheatunopened foodcontainersasabuild-upofpressuremaycausethecontainerstoburst.
Useacoveredhand when openingthe grill lid. Neverleanoveranopengrill.
When lighting aburner,alwayspaycloseattentiontowhatyouaredoing. Makecertainyouareawareof
whichburneryou arelightingsothat yourbodyandclothingremainclearofopen flames.
When usingthe grill, donottouchthegrill rack, burnergrateorimmediatesurroundingsastheseareas
becomeextremelyhot andcouldcauseburns. Useonlydrypotholders. Moistordamppotholdersonhot
surfacesmaycausesteamburns.Donotuseatowelorbulkyclothinplaceofpotholders. Donotallow
potholderstotouchhotportionsofthegrillrack.
Greaseisflammable.Lethotgreasecoolbeforeattemptingtohandleit.Donot allowgreasedepositsto
collect inthegreasetrayat thebottomofthe grill’sfirebox.Clean the greasetrayoften.
Donotusealuminumfoiltoline thegrill racksorgrillbottom.Thiscanseverelyupsetcombustion airflowor
trapexcessiveheatinthe controlarea.
Forproperlightingandperformanceofthe burners,keep theburnerportsclean. Itisnecessarytoclean them
periodicallyforoptimumperformance. The burnerswillonlyoperateinoneposition andmustbe mounted
correctlyforsafeoperation.

useinbuildings, garages,sheds,breezewaysorothersuchenclosed areas.
Thisunit isintended foroutdooruseonly.
Keepthe areassurrounding the grillfree fromcombustiblematerialsincluding,fluids,trash,and vaporssuch
asgasoline orcharcoallighterfluid.Donot obstructtheflowofcombustion andventilationair. Iftheunit is
storedindoors,makesureitiscool.
Donotusebriquettesofanykindinthegrill.
Thisliquidpropanegasgrillisdesignedforoptimumperformancewithout theuseofbriquettes.Donotplace
briquettesontheflametamersasthiswill blocktheventtothe grillburners. Adding briquettescandamage
ignition components,thusvoidingthewarranty.
Keepthe backofthecartfree andclearfromdebris. Keepanyelectricalsupplycordand thefuelsupplyhose
awayfromanyheated surface.
Neverusethe grillinextremelywindyconditions.Iflocatedinaconsistentlywindyarea (oceanfront,
mountaintop,etc.),awindbreakwill be required.Alwaysadheretotheclearancespecifications.
PLACEMENTOFTHEGRILL
Outdoorcookingappliancesshouldnotbe usedunderoverheadcombustibleconstruction.
When determiningasuitablelocationtakeintoaccount concernssuchasexposuretowind, proximitytotraffic
paths, andkeepinggassupplylinesasshort aspossible.
Placethe grillinwell-ventilatedareas.Neverplacethe grillinabuilding,garage,breezeway,shedorother
suchenclosedareas.Duringheavyuse,the grillwillproducealotof smoke.
Beawarethat smallinsects, spiders, etc. canmakenestsinthemixing tubesand burnersoftheappliance
whichcan causeaburnbacktooccur.
Intheevent ofburnback,wheretheflameburnsbacktothe jet, immediatelyturnoff thegassupplyatthe
burnercontrolvalve.
Afterensuring that theflameisextinguished, re-lightthe applianceasdescribedinbelow. Shouldthe
applianceagainburnback,closethe valvesandexaminethemixing tube orburnerforanyobstruction.Ifthere
arenoobstructionsandthe burnback stilloccurs,call atechnician toexamine theapplianceandmakeany
necessaryrepairs.
Donotmakeanyunnecessaryadjustmentsormodificationstothisgrill, aqualifiedLPgastechnician should
doanyadjustments.

CONNECTINGTHELPGASCYLINDER
ToconnecttheLPGasSupplyCylinder:
a)Thecylindervalveshouldbeinthe “OFF”position.Ifnot, turnthevalve
clockwiseuntil itstops.
b)Makesurethe cylindervalvehasthepropertypeinternalthreadfora “bullnose”regulator.
c)Makesurethe burnervalvesareinthe “OFF”position.
d)Inspectthevalveconnections,portand regulatorassembly.Removedebrisandinspectthe hose
fordamage.
e)Whenconnectingtheregulatorassemblytothe valve,useyourhand totighten the nutclockwise
until it stops. Useofawrenchcoulddamagethequickcouplingnutandresultinahazardous
situation.
f)Openthecylindervalve fullybyturningthevalvecounterclockwise.
g)Beforelightingthegrill,useasoapandwatersolutiontocheck alltheconnectionsforleaks.
h)Ifaleakisfound,turnthecylindervalve “OFF”anddonotusethegrilluntilalocalLiquidPropane
dealercan makerepairs.

1.Turnthegrillburnervalves “OFF”and makesurethegrill iscool.
2.TurntheLPgascylindervalve “OFF”byturningclockwiseuntil itstops.
3.Detachthe regulatorassemblyfromthecylindervalvebyturningthewheelnut clockwise.
4.Placedustcaponcylindervalveoutlet wheneverthe cylinderis notinuse.Onlyinstallthetype of
dustcapon the cylindervalveoutletthat isprovided withthecylindervalve. Othertypesofcapsor
plugsmayresultinleakageofLPgas.
LEAKTESTING
GENERAL
Although gasconnectionsonthegrill areleaktestedpriortoshipment, acompleteleaktest must be
performedattheinstallationsite.Beforeeachuse,checkallgasconnectionsforleaksusing the
procedureslisted below.
If thesmell ofgasisdetectedatanytime,youshouldimmediatelychecktheentiresystemforleaks.
BEFORETESTING
Makesureallpackingmaterialshavebeen removed fromthegrill, includingtheburnertie-downstraps.
WARNING
Checkallgassupplyfittingsforleaksbeforeeachuse. Donot usethe grilluntilall connectionshavebeen
checkedanddonotleak. Donot smokewhileleaktesting. Neverleaktest withanopenflame.
Makeasolutionofonepart liquiddetergentandone partwater.Youwill need aspraybottle, brush,or
rag toapplythesolutiontothefittings.Fortheinitialleaktest,makesuretheLiquidPropaneCylinderis
full.
TOTEST
1.Turntheburnervalvesoff.
2.TurntheLPgascylindervalve counterclockwisetoopenthe valve.
3.Apply the soapsolution toallgasfittings. Soap bubbleswillappearwherealeakispresent.
4.If aleakispresent, immediately turnthegassupply “OFF”andtightenleaky fittings.
5.Turnthegasback “ON”andrecheck.
6.Shouldthegascontinuetoleakfromanyofthefittings,turnthegassupply “OFF”andcontact
customerserviceat+27 12 8021515.
7.If thereisevidenceofexcessive abrasionorwear, orthehoseiscut, itmustbe replacedpriortothe
outdoorcookinggasappliancebeing put intooperation.
Only thosepartsrecommendedbythemanufacturershouldbeusedonthegrill.Substitutionswill void
the warranty.
INSTALLER FINALCHECK
•Maintainspecifiedclearanceof24inchesfromcombustiblematerialsand construction.
•All internalpackaginghasbeenremoved.
•The hoseandregulatorareproperlyconnectedtotheLPgascylinder.

•All burnersareinstalled.

UsingtheGrill
Grillingrequireshighheatforsearingandproperbrowning.Mostfoodsarecookedata “HI”heatsetting
fortheirentirecooking time.However,when grilling largepiecesofmeatorpoultry, itmaybe necessary
toturntheheat toalowersetting afterthe initialbrowning. Thismethodcooksthefoodthoroughly without
burning the outside.
Food cookedforalong timeorbasted withasugar-based marinademayneedalowerheatsetting near
the end ofitscooking time.
Tobegin:
1.Makesurethegrill hasbeenleaktestedand isproperlyplaced.(Seepage 18.)
2.Removeanyremainingpackingmaterials.
3.Lightthe grillburnersusing the LightingInstructionsonnext page.
4.Turnthecontrolknob(s)tothe “IGNITE/ HI”setting, andpreheatthegrillfor15minutes.Thegrill lid
shouldbeclosedduringthepre-heatperiod.
5.Placethe food on the grill andcooktothedesireddegree ofpreparation.Ifnecessary,adjust the heat
setting.Thecontrolknob maybepositionedatanysetting between “HI”and “LO”.
LIGHTINGINSTRUCTIONS
BeforeLighting
Inspectthegassupplyhosepriortoturningon the gas.Ifthereisevidenceofcuts,wear,orabrasion,it
must bereplacedpriortouse.
Screwtheregulator(typeQCC1)ontothecylinder,and leakcheckthehoseandregulatorconnections
beforeoperating thegrill(seethe “LeakTesting”instructionson page18).
Only thepressureregulatorandhoseassemblysuppliedwiththe unit shouldbeused.Neversubstitute
regulators.If areplacementisnecessary,contactcustomerserviceforproperreplacement.
WARNING

TOLIGHTTHEMAINBURNERS
1. Open lidduringlighting.
2. Makesureallthe knobsareinthe “OFF”position,and then turntheLiquidPropane Cylindervalve
“ON”byslowly turningcounterclockwise.
3. Pushand turnMainBurnercontrolknobtoIGNITE/HI,at the sametime,press andholdelectronic
ignition button tolight the burner.
4. Oncetheburnerislit,releasethe electronicignitionbuttonandknob.
5.If ignitiondoesnot occurin5seconds, turntheknobtoOFF,wait5minutesandrepeat the lighting
procedureorlight bymatch.
