NOTE: This buckle guard is
designed to prevent the
occupant from releasing the
buckle.
NOTE: Do not use this
product if caregiver is
unable to release the buckle
with the buckle guard
installed.
NOTE: This buckle guard
(Figure ) must only be
used with the buckle shown
in Figure B. If there is any
doubt, call customer service
at Merritt Manufacturing,
Inc. at 317-409-0148 for
assistance.

Installation of the Buckle Guard
1. Remove the buckle from
your child safety seat, per
the instructions provided
with it.
2. Remove the Buckle Guard
( igure D) from its
packaging.
3. Insert the buckle anchor
through the top of the
Buckle Guard ( igures E and
).
4. Using the palm of your hand,
snap the Buckle Guard onto
the buckle ( igure G).
NOTE: Make sure the
buckle guard fits flush as
shown in Figures H and I. If
it does not fit flush, call
customer service at Merritt
Manufacturing, Inc. at 317-
409-0148 for assistance.
5. Install the buckle, according
to your child safety seat’s
instructions.

NOTE: This Buckle Guard (Figure ) will not work with any
of the buckles pictured above. It will only work with the
buckle shown in Figure B below.

Opening the Buckle
NOTE: There are two ways to open the buckle.
1. To release the buckle, simply slide your thumb under the buckle guard and press the red release
button on the buckle ( igure J).
2. Or, while lifting up on the front of the buckle guard with one hand, insert the end of the tool
provided through the hole on the front of the buckle guard and use it to press the red release
button on the buckle ( igures K and L).
NOTE: Do not use this product if caregiver is unable to release the buckle with the buckle
guard installed.
Removing the buckle guard from the buckle.
If you decide that you no longer want to use the buckle guard, the following steps demonstrate how to
permanently remove it.
NOTE: Once the buckle guard has been removed, it is not safe to use again. It must be
discarded.
NOTE: While removing the buckle guard, be careful not to damage your buckle. If you
do damage it, do not use the child safety seat. Immediately order a new buckle from the
manufacturer of your child safety seat.
1. Obtain a flat head screwdriver.
2. Slide the screwdriver between the back of the buckle and the buckle guard ( igure M).
3. Pry the buckle away and up from the buckle guard ( igure N).
4. Remove and discard the buckle guard.
5. Install your buckle back onto your child safety seat.
