GettingStarted
Unpacking
TheFlo1700 Series MobileComputing Workstation willarrivefullyassembled and fully
functionalatthe customer’ssiteinacardboardbox. Aftercuttingthe strappingbands, lift the
top ofthe boxoverthe MobileComputingWorkstation.Inordertoavoidanyinjury, two(2)
peopleshall lift the MobileComputing Workstationfromthepaddingblocks.The workstation
mayweighbetween 110 and 135 lbs depending ontheconfiguration.
Inspection
AftertheFlo1700SeriesMobileComputingWorkstation hasbeenunpacked,the usershould
inspectthe unit for anyshippingdamage.If thereisanydamage, pleasecontactInterMetro
Customer Service immediately.
PowerSupply Preparation
BeforeplacingaFlo1700Series MobileComputing Workstation intoservice,the Power Supply
batterymayneed tobeconnected andshouldbeinitiallychargedfor afull 24 hours.
ImportantNotice:
Please refertothe respectivesupplementaloperations manualincluded withthe Mobile
ComputingWorkstation forthe Power Supplyinstalled forrequirementsanddetailson
batterypreparation andinitialcharging of thePower Supply.
Tochargethebattery,plug thecoiled AC power cordintoan AC outletandputthe
ON/Extended StorageSwitch intothe “ON” position (see“Turning on thePower Supply” below).
Notice:Forfurtherinformationonpower supplychargetimes andon thechargeindicator
lightsof theRemoteFuelGauge, pleaserefertothe respectivePower Supply

Turning onthe PowerSupply
If so equipped,the Power Supplyofthe Flo1700 Series MobileComputing Workstation mustbe
turnedon topower all theworkstation equipment. ThePower Supplyiscontrolled bythe
“ON/ExtendedStorage” Switch located onthe Power Supplythat istypicallymounted onthe
bottom ofthe workstation.

StorageSwitch Inthe “ON” position,the power supplyprovides power totheFlo1700
Series MobileComputing Workstation systems. If theworkstationisnot
used for anextended period oftime,the ON/Extended Storage Switch
shouldbe put inthe “Extended Storage”(OFF)position.The switch
position disconnectsthe batteryfrom anyinternal or externalequipment
and avoids deep dischargesof thebattery,which can causedamageto
the battery.

computer

You can power uptheMobileComputingWorkstation duringtheinitial
charge.Theequipmenthas been designedtooperatewhilemobileor
when pluggedintoanACoutlet.

TheON/OFFswitch forthe computerislocated inthefrontunderneath
the writing surface.Dependingonyour computerconfiguration,the
switch maybe on the left,middleorrightside.
Poweringup the
monitor Depress the power switch on the monitortoturnon themonitor. The
monitorcanbe left onat all times,becauseapower saving modeshuts
downthe monitor when no video signalispresent.
Starting Windows and Wireless Network
ThecomputerstartswithaWindowsoperating systempreinstalled.
Dependingontheconfiguration,you mayhaveastandardinstallation
or acustominstallation for your location thatmayrequireyou toenter
Windowsauthorization codes.All codes alongwithaWindows
installation CD areshipped withthe MobileComputing Workstation.
For setting-upthewireless LAN andconnecting tothehospitalnetwork,
consult yourITdepartment.
