Quick Reference Guide
Refer to the SMR100 Soil pH and Resistivity Meter
User Guide (part number 122221-000) for complete
instructions.
1Remove the meter and probes from the carrying case.
2Select measurement probe; connect probe to the meter.
3Turn the SRM100 on by pressing and holding the POWER button for 5 seconds. The SRM100
will perform an auto-check and then display SRM RDY, select RES or pH Mode when ready
to take measurements.
4Push probe into the soil to the depth of the desired measurement (the measurement sensors
are located at the tip of the probe).
5Press the OHM-CM measurement button for the resistivity measurement. The soil resistivity
displays in about 20 seconds. Record measurement.
6Press the pH measurement button for pH measurement (do not move probe). The soil pH
measurement displays in about one minute. Record measurement.
7Remove the probe, and wipe the sensor array clean. See reverse side of this guide for
maintenance guidelines.

CAUTION:NEVER wipe the sensor array with oils, hydrocarbons, cleaning solvents, acids, or other like
materials.
CAUTION:NEVER use steel wool, emery cloth, screwdriver, knife, or other abrasive substances or items
to clean the sensor array.

Precautions
To ensure accurate and repeatable soil pH and soil resistivity measurements, ensure that the probe is
properly maintained. Clean the probe sensor of any accumulated soils, corrosion, and scale build-up.
 Wipe the sensor array with a clean cloth to remove any accumulated and/or attached soils from
the sensor array before beginning measurements as well as before returning the probe to its
protective case.
 Should a build-up of corrosion or scale occur, first wipe the sensor array with a clean cloth to
remove any loose material. Then use a non-metallic scouring pad, such as a “Scotch-Brite®”
scouring pad, to remove any remaining materials. With medium to light hand pressure, move the
scour pad up and down the length of the sensor array until all corrosion and scale is removed.
Finally, wipe the sensor array again with a clean cloth.
