1INTRODUCTION
This 3D scanner product type is MD7000.
MD7000 3D scanner is an end-to-end solution that enables device to perceive the world in
3D sense. There are totally 3 sensors in 3D scanner, the right one is IR light projector, the
left one is depth camera and the middle one is RGB camera.

1.2 Features
Multiple 3D Scanners Support
Real-time 3D reconstruction from multiple 3D scanner. This is particularly useful for use
during events when lots of people need to be scanned in a short time. More faster scan
speed and more higher scan accuracy. Please let manufacturer and distributor know if
you are interesting in it for the detail extension scheme.
Real-time Performance
3d scanner usage concept is similar to that of an ordinary video camera – simply move
around the object to be captured. However, instead of a video stream you get a complete
3d model in real-time.
Plug and Play Support
Use a high speed USB2.0/3.0 data cable to support data communication and power
supply.
Across all Scales
Modeling with 3d scanner scales from smaller objects such as human faces up to entire
rooms.
Metric Units
3D scanner performs the entire reconstruction in metric space. No need for freaky scaling
attempts. The result can be exported to various formats such as STL, OBJ, and PLY etc.
Texture Support
3d scanner is capable of capturing and processing the color information of the object
being scanned, as long as the sensor provides the necessary color stream.

2SYSTEMREQUIREMENTS
2.1 Hardware
It is strongly advised customer to configure the computer which meets the following
requirements at least.
CPU Reconstruction: 2 GB RAM, Quad core processor.
GPU Reconstruction: 2 GB RAM, Intel Core 2, CUDA 2.0 compatible graphics card,
with 1 GB of memory
Recommended PC: Windows 7 or later (64 bits), Intel i7, 4 GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX
560 or higher.

3. INSTALL DRIVE AND APPLICATION SOFTWARE
Please install all the related software at default C disc.
3.1 Update Graphics Drive (Optional)
Update graphics driver to the latest version. Choose custom installation and clean
installation. The website address of the driver of NVIDIA is as follows:

3.2 Install 3D Scanner Drivers
1. Install driver according to the configuration of computer system;
2. Ensure computer is not connected to the scanner;
3. Double click the driver of 3D scanner, enter into the follow interface;
Click “next”.

Do not change the installation address, click “Install” only.
Wait for a moment.

Click “Finish”;
4. Restart Windows system;
5. Connect 3D scanner, if there is no notice about driver installation failed, then the
installation is succeed.
3.3 Install 3D Scanner Application Software
Double click the application software of 3D scanner and make sure DO NOT modify the
install path. Follow the install wizard to click "NEXT" to the final finish step.

4.OPERATEAPPLICATIONSOFTWARE
Note: all the screenshots are from less application software version , a slightly different
software will show in higher version, screenshots can be referenced.
4.1 The First Start
After the success of installation according to above steps, and make sure the
scanning instrument is connected to the computer, double click the desktop shortcut
to start the scanning instrument applications.
Activate the fully functional license (the steps need to contact the manufacturer or
distributor).
On the left of main interface of application software, input license information by click
"License" as follows,
License Email: input information, please contact the manufacturer and distributor.
License Key: input information, please contact the manufacturer and distributor.
After the success of the activation and continue the following steps.
4.2 The Main Interface of Application Software
Wait a few seconds, until presents the below diagram.
4.3 Prepare Status

Examine whether the state is prepared or not.
The main interface is paged out after a few seconds, if the top right-hand corner of
the main interface presents, which means the scanning instrument is already
prepared. See below diagram.
If OpenNI 2 Sensor presents green means scanning instrument is ready, if it presents
red, please close the software, try to change the scanning instrument and computer
USB interface.
If GPU Available presents green means the graphics card is ready. If it presents red
indicates that the graphics card does not support, please see the section 2 of this
manual for more hardware requirements. If it presents red, the scanning instrument
could be worked, but accuracy and speed of scanning will be severely affected, and
even do not support the normal operation of the scanning instrument. If it presents
yellow, you can open the GPU in the Settings option to turn green.
If "Skanect Pro" presents green indicates the applications license is
normal.
Click on Settings, enter into the setting interface and make a set based on the
following configuration information.

If selecting GPU in the option of Recording Feedback indicates open GPU
acceleration, it will make the scanning accuracy higher and run smoother. It is
recommended to always open this option;
The “Low” in the function of Feedback Quality means the speed of collection is fast ,
but Low precision. “Medium” means considering the scanning speed and accuracy.
“High” means increase the scanning precision, but reduces the scanning speed,
require the user to scan steady and slowly. It is advised to choose “Medium”.
“On” in the option of “track Loss Detection” means if scanning instrument collects
deviation data, the system will be alarm. If there always is a indication "Go back to the
last pose" during scan process, it is recommend to choose OFF.
4.4 New
Click on “Start” in the main interface.
Select the size of scene according the scanning object.

Select the "Body" scene size defaults to the space of 1 x1x1(dimensions) meter;
Select the “Object” scene size defaults to the space of 0.6 x0.6x0.6(dimensions)
meters;
Select the “Room” scene size defaults to the space of 5 x5x5(dimensions) meters;
Select the “Half Room” scene size defaults to the space of 3x3x3(dimensions)
meters;
Custom scene size.
Users may click “Body”,“Object”,“Room” and“Half Room” to select scene size quickly.
Users may also define the custom scene size by dragging the mouse. The size of
custom scene is adjustable from 0.1 X 0.1 X 0.1 (dimensions) meters to 12 x 12x 12
(dimensions) meters. The smaller the scene, the higher the precision of scanning.
Increase the longitudinal scan range
Click “Height x 2”to increase the longitudinal scan range. For whole body scanning,
please select this option.
Default Settings.
These two options keep default Settings.
Record
Through the above configuration, the user can finish the settings before scanning.
Click on "Start".

Enter in to the scene of scanning,
In the middle of the three-dimensional frame is "scene", the scanned person or object
cannot exceed the scene.
Using left mouse button to rotate the scene.
Using right mouse button to zoom into or zoom out of the scene.
Using middle mouse button to make a translation.
4.5 3D Scanning Process
Adjust the distance between scanning instrument and human body, until the portrait
almost clear in the scene, this means you transferred to the best distance (reference data
is about 0.5 m) and keep the body motionless, click on . After clicking, the
system default countdown 3 seconds (adjustable), the scanning instrument revolve
around people after a circle ,then scanning process could be end, click on .
After scanning, software interface will appear data progress bar, waiting for a few seconds,
the interface appears the following picture to end the scanning process.

NOTE,
1. Please always keep the best scanning distance between scanning instrument and
human body (reference data is about 0.5 m).Changing the distance time to time will lead
to accuracy to be reduced.
2. It is suggested to control the rotation time in 20-30 seconds, and to make sure the
portrait in the software presents a large area in the scanning process.
3. If scanning instrument lose focus, and a large area of green disappear because of
moving too fast, you may stop and give up this time and start a new one.
When scanning for the portrait, recommend the following Settings.

The setting of body portrait scan is as following,

Please pay attention during body scan, the initial point is at the point of the box by default.
Therefore in the whole body scan, it is better to scan from the waist to head, then to feet,
or you may scan from waist to feet, and then move to head. Above all, the whole portrait
will be packed in the box. Please make sure the whole body scan is completed within 2
minutes.
Please try to slow, steady and keep close to face when moving scanning instrument and it
is best not to repeat scanning (means do not repeat twice even several times). It is
recommended to start from back of the head, through the face one-time and return back.

Highly precise face scan, see below setting,

The more accurate scanning, the more requirements when scanning slow and steady.
Therefore, we should make sure to close the face as far as possible, smooth and slowly
operation when highly precise face scan. Please don’t back and forth scan several times,
try to operate once or twice. It is recommended to begin with an ear, through the face
one-time, and then to the other ear.
4.6 Colorize
After finishing data fusion, click on “Process”,
Click on “Colorize”, see below diagram,

Click on the "on", and then click "Run", the system will start to color in model
automatically.
If the model is just scan face, open the state of the Face Mode. It is the way to promote
facial scan color accuracy.
In this interface, application software also provides other processing functions of 3D
model. We do not recommend using this functions here and it may reduce the accuracy of
3D model. It is recommend to repair the model after save model through repair software
by a third party.
4.7 Save
The format of export model of 3D scanning instrument is including PLY, OBJ, STL, etc. It
is needed to use 3D scanning instrument and 3D printers together usually. The format of
general export model is STL and OBJ.
No color model export
After finishing the step of 4.7, click “share”,
