Note:
The K4015 is a high performance presence detector with photocell. The photocell can be programmed to hold
lights when areas become occupied (if the daylight contribution is sufficiently high) and to switch lights in
occupied areas asthe daylight contribution falls (Active mode). By factory-default the photocellis set to Passive
mode-itwillnotturnlightsOFFwhenanareaisoccupiedregardlessofnaturallightlevels.
The K4015 is suitablefor flush mounting in a suspended ceiling tile, maximum 54mmthick and with a minimum
clearance of 125mm between the front surface of the tile and the hard ceiling behind. The K4015 should be
mounted in the centre of the group of luminaires to be controlled. Cut a 50mm diameter (64mm if using an

The K4015 is supplied with a flying lead which should be taken into the first luminaire on the circuit to be
controlled,fromwhereitwillpickupits230Vsupply. Controlofagroupofluminairesisachievedbyconnectingall

Below is a table showing the pre-set factory settings and a brief explanation of each parameter. These
parameters may be re-programmed any number of times and all settings will be retained in the event of apower
loss.
Parameter Options Pre-set Notes
Power-up on/off on Sets the luminaire state atpowerup irrespective of occupancy.
Useful in reducing start-up load following power cut. Power-up off
responds to occupancy after 30 seconds.
Response auto/ auto If set to auto, the presence detector switches the luminaire on and
semi-auto offautomatically. If set tosemi-auto,the willnotturn on
automatically when a person enters the area. It can be turned on
usingthe K4052 hand-held controller or by togglingthe power
switch. When the area isvacated, the light will turn off automatically.
Off Delay 5mins - 96hrs 20 mins Time for which the luminaire will stay onfollowing the last
detected movement. Also 10 second setting for walk-testing.
24-hour Cycle on/off off If set to ON, and there has been no movement detected for 24
hours, the load will be switched on once forthe duration of the time
delay
Photocell passive/ passive Passive - holds lights off when sufficient natural light.
Mode active/ Active - lights turn on and off as required whennatural light levels
disabled fluctuateand area is occupied.
Disabled - the photocell has noeffect.

Setting the Photocell
1. Wait until the time of day when the ambient light level is equal to the level at which you want the photocell to
becomeactive.
2. UsingtheK4053,select‘SetLightLevel’fromtheUtilitiesmenuandpressOKwhilepointingatthedetectorto
storethecurrentlightlevel- thelightsmustbe on priorto startingthisprocess.Thedetectorstorestwovalues
inLowerThresholdandUpperThreshold.
3. If required, these values can be manually edited via the K4053. Please note, theseare not Lux levels but a
representationofthelightlevelsperceivedbythedetectoratthetimeofthestorecommand
Note:IfthephotocellissettoPassive,onlythevalueintheLowerThresholdisrelevant
If the photocell is set to Active, once the ambient light level drops below the Lower Threshold value, the
lights will turn ON. If the ambient level exceeds the value of the Upper Threshold forthe duration of the off-
delay(PassingCloudTimer)thenthelightswillturnON.
If the photocell is set to ‘Disabled’ when a Set Light Level operation is made, it will revert to operating in
Passivemode.

2. Thisequipmentswitcheslightsno morefrequentlythanwould a responsiblehumanoccupant. However,manufacturersof
some lighting types (e.g. ‘2D’ luminaires) may specify a maximum number of switching cycles in order to achieve a
predicted lamp life. Please check with the manufacturer of the luminaires to ensure that they are compatible with
automaticcontrolsin thisrespect.
Washroom Mode
If the detector has seen no movement for 24 hours, the load will be switched ON for the duration of the time
delay, if Washroom mode is set to ON. Used in conjunction with a suitable valve the need for separate urinal
flushcontrolisremoved.
