Commissioning
The K4011 has a fixed 20 minute off-delay and is designed not to be re-programmed. It is possible, however, to
settheunitintowalk-testmodeandtosetthephotocellswitchinglevel,forwhichaninfraredprogrammer(K4050
orK4053)maybeused
Walk-test Mode
Setting the Photocell
Multiple K4011
Walk-test mode is used to check that the range of the presence detector is appropriate for the application. The
short off-delay enables the installer to check that lights areswitching on when movements are made at the edge
ofthedetectionzone. Itiseasiertocarryoutawalk-testwhenthephotocellisnotholdingthelightsoff.
1. Using an K4050BasicProgrammer, point the unit atthedetector and briefly press ButtonA.Alternatively, set
a 10 second off-delay using the K4053: From the utilities menu, select ‘Walk Test’ and whilst pointing the
programmeratthedetector,brieflypresstheOKbuttontoenterwalk-testmode.
2. Move aroundtheareathatisbeingcontrolled, stoppingfor10secondstoallowthelightstoswitchoff, before
movingandtriggeringthelightsbackon.
3. After5minutes,oraninterruptioninthemainspowersupply,theoff-delayreturns to20minutes.Alternatively
theoff-delaycanbereprogrammedto20minutesusingtheK4053.
The photocell is ideally commissioned at a time when ambient conditions are just insufficient for user
requirementsandassuch,artificiallightingwouldberequired.
With an K4050, point the programmer at the detector and briefly press the ‘Store’ button to set the current light
level as the photocell switching point. This ensures that whenever the controlled area is brighter than this level,
the lights will switch on when entering the area. Note that the lights will not turn OFF if an area is occupied,
regardlessofnaturallightlevels
With a K4053, from the Utilities menu, select Set Light Level and press the OK button to store the current
perceivedlevel.TheprocedureisthesameaswiththeK4050programmer.
A numerical value (0-254) is stored in the Threshold parameter (viewable with an K4053) and can be edited if
necessary.Alower value indicates that the area must be progressively darker before the controlled lighting will
switchON.
