Howtoavoid damaging yourappliance
DDo notusethe hob surface asaworking surface
orforstorage.
DDo notusethe cooking zoneswith emptypansor
withoutpans.This couldcause damage tothe
pansorthe hob.
DCeramicglass isinsensitivetotemperatureshock
and veryrobust, however,itisnotunbreakable.
Hard and sharp objects,in particular,can damage
the cooking surfaceif theyfall on it.
DDo notusecastiron potsorpanswith damaged
basesthatarerough orburred.Scratching may
occurwhen the pansareslid.
DDo notplace anypanson the hob frame.Scrat-
ching mayoccurorthe paintdamaged.
DEnsurethatliquids containing acids,e.g.vinegar,
lemon limescaleremoving agentsdo notcome
intocontactwiththe hob frame,otherwisematt
spotswill appear.
DIf sugarora dishcontaining sugarcomesintocon-
tactwith a hotcooking zone and then melts,re-
movethe soiling immediatelywhilststill warm,
using a glass scraper.Ifitcools,damage tothe
surfacemayoccur.
DKeep all itemsand materialsthatmeltawayfrom
the ceramicglass surface,e.g.plastics,alumi-
niumfoil oroven foils.Ifsomething of thisnature
shouldmeltontothe ceramicglass surface,it
mustbe removed immediatelyusing a glass scra-
per.

Disposal
Disposalofpackaging material
All partsof the packaging can be recycled and
hardfoampartsare appropriatelymarked.

Beforethe firstuse
Cleaning forthefirst time
The hob hasto be cleaned thouroughlybeforeitisfirst
used.
DWashthe ceramicglass surface and the frame
withwarm waterwith a littlewashing up liquid ad-
ded and wipe dry.
Neveruse aggressive orabrasivecleaning
agents, theymaydamage the ceramicglass and
hob frame.

Operating instructions
General information
The cooking surfaceismade ofproven ceramicglass.
and consistsof4cooking zones.The rapid glowing
cooking zoneswiththat the especiallyefficientradiant
heating elementswill considerablyreducethe duration
ofheating--up.
The cooking surfaceispore--free and alsoinsen-
sitivetorapidchangesintemperature.Pots can
thereforebemoved froma hot tocoldzone.
When switchingonacooking zone you mayhear
ashortbuzz.Thatisacharacteristicofall ceramic
glass cooking zonesand doesnotimpairthe func-
tion orthe lifetime of the appliance.
Always putpotsand pansontothe cooking zone
beforeswitching on.
HeatControlKnobs
The controlknobsregulatesthe heating capacityof the
cooking zones.
Switching on the cooking zones
DTurnthe controlknobstothe rightortothe left to
the desired position.
DYou may set the cooking zone selection between
positions1 and 9.
1=minimumsetting
9=maximumsetting.
Switching off the cooking zones
DTurnthe controlknob aftercooking always tothe
OFF--position.
Residualheatindicator
The warning lamplightsup when the surface of the cor-
responding cooking zone reachesatemperaturewhich
couldcause burns.
Thislightremainslitafterthe heated-up area hasbeen
switched off aslong asthe residualheatof the corres-
ponding cooking surfacecan cause burnings.The light
will go outonlyafterthe cooking zone has sufficiently
cooled down.
The residualheatcan be used forthe melting and
keeping disheswarm.
Caution!Whilethe indication lampisilluminated
the hob ishotand thereisarisk ofburning.
Caution! If thereisa powerfailurethe indication
lampwill go outeven if thereisresidualheatinthe
hob.Carewill havetobetaken until thereisno
longerarisk ofburning.

Cooking and frying utensils
The betterthe potorthe pan, the betterthe boiling
orfrying result.
DYou can recognise good qualitypansbytheir
base.The baseshouldbethick and asflataspos-
sible.
DRough bases(i.e.burrsand sharp edges)will
scratchthe ceramicglass surface.
DUtensilswith aluminiumand copperbases can
leave behind metallicdiscolorationswhichcan
onlybe removed with difficultyorsometimesnot
atall.
DSaucepansand frying pans should notbe smaller
than the cooking zone,and preferablynotmore
than 10--15 mm largerthan the diameterof the
cooking zone.
DWhen cold,pan basesnormally curveslightlyin-
wards(areconcave). Innocaseshouldthey
curve outwards(be convex).
DWhen buying newpotsorpanspayattention to
the base diameter.Manufacturersoften statethe
upperdiameterof the edge ofa dish.
DIf you are using specialcooking utensilslike pres-
surecookersoraWOK, followthe manufacturer’s
instructions.
DFollowanyguidelinesprovided bythe saucepan
manufacturer.Ensuretheyarerecommended for
useonceramichobs.
Generalhints
DThe bases should always be clean and dry.
DTo avoidscratching ordamaging the ceramic
glass surface,potsand pans should be moved on
the hob bylifting them,and notby sliding.
DScratches can also be caused bygrainsofsand
(e.g.originating fromthe previouswashing ofve-
getables),drawn overthe cooking surfacewith
the pan,orbyburrsand the rimsofpan bases.
DUse high sided pansfordisheswith a lotofliquid,
sothatnothing boilsover.
Energy consumption
Tosave energy,you should:
Dplace potsand pansin position beforeswitching
on the cooking zone.
Duse only cooking and frying utensilswithsmooth,
flatbases.

Cleaning and care
Attention!Cleanersmustnotgetontothe hotce-
ramicglass surface!Aftercleaning all residuesof
cleanersmustbe removed withsufficientclean
water,astheymaybe causticwhen being rehea-
ted.
Neveruse aggressive orabrasive agents,such
asoven sprays,stain or rustremovers,scouring
powder,orspongeswith an abrasive effect.
Suitablecleaning materialsare:clean cloth or
household paper,hotwaterwith detergent, suita-
blecommercialcleanersand cleaning scrapers.
Cleaning scrapersand ceramicglass cleaners
are availablefromyourlocalServiceForceCen-
tre.
Ceramicglass surface
DClean the ceramicglass surface aftereveryuse
when itishand warm orcold.Thiswill avoidspills
becoming burnton.
DRemovescale and water marks, fatspotsand
metallic shimmering discoloration with a commer-
cialceramicglass cleanersuch asVitroclen.
Lightsoilage
DWipe the ceramicglass surfacewith a dampcloth,
and a littlewashing up liquid.
DThen rub drywithaclean cloth.Noresiduesof
cleaner mustbe left on the surface.
DOnce a week, throroughly clean the entirecera-
micglass surfacewith a commercialceramic
glass cleaner.Always ensurethat the hob isdry
aftercleaning.
Stubbornsoilage
DToremovefood thathasboiled overorburnton
spots,useaglass scraper.
DPlacethe glass scraperatan angletothe ceramic
glass surface.Removesoiling by sliding the scra-
per.

Sugar
DRemove burnt--on sugar,melted plastics,alumi-
niumfoil immediately-- when theyarestill warm
-- using a glass scraper,otherwise damage may
be caused.
Warning!When using the cleaning scraperon the
warm cooking zone careshouldbetaken.
DAfterwards clean the cooking surface normally.
If the cooking zone and melted materialhas coo-
led down,reheat the cooking zone gentlyto aid
the cleaning process.
Dark spots,decordamages
If aggressivecleanersorpanswith abrasive ba-
sesare used, then the decorwill take on an abra-
ded appearence and dark spotswill appearover
time.
Thesemarks cannotbe removed.However, they
do notimpairthe fuctioning of the hob.

Scratches inthe ceramicglass surface
Scratchesinthe ceramicglass surfaceresulting
fromburrson a pan base orsand grains cannot
be removed.
However, theydo notimpairthe fuctioning of the
hob.
Thehob frame
Do notallowvinegar,lemonsorscaleremoversto
comeintocontactwiththe hob frame,matt spots
will appear.
DClean the hob framewithwaterand a littlewas-
hing up liquid.
DSoften dried dirtwith a wetcloth.Then wipe off
and rub dry.

Something NotWorking
If the hob doesnot function correctly,pleasecarryout
the following checks,asitmaybe something you can
remedy yourself.

This appliance mustbeinstalledand connec-
ted byqualified personel. Please observe this
instruction,otherwise theguarantee will not
coveranydmagewhichmay occur.
During the installation and incase ofaservicefai-
lurethe appliancemustnotbe connected tothe
mains.
The generalrulesforthe operation ofelectricap-
pliances, the provisionsbythe competentelectri-
city supplyboard and the specificationsof these
instructionsforinstallation havetobestrictlyad-
hered to.
Building intothe kitchenworktop
Electricalsafetyisto be ensured byprofessional
installation.
Protection againstaccidentalcontactaccording
tothe regulations setbyVDEorotherlocalautho-
ritiesmustbe ensured by correctinstallation of
the appliances.The samereferstothe back of the
appliancewhich,even incase ofbuilt--insolutions
awayfromthe wall,mustnotbe freelyaccessible.
Built--incupboardshaveto be located and faste-
ned inawaythat theyarestable.
DNote downthe datafromthe rating plate ofyour
applianceinthe printed rating plateform inthis

Installation dimensions
The opening inthe cabinetmustcorrespond tothe

Withregardtothe protection againstoverheating
ofsurrounding furnituresurfacesthisappliance
correspondstotype Y.Thisappliance orthe built--
incupboardforthe appliancerespectivelymaybe
located withthe rearwall and one side wall towha-
teverhigh wallsorfurniturerespectivelyand with
the otherside to anotherappliance orfurniture of
the same heightasthisappliance.
Hob installation
DCutout the worktop withthe cut--outsize as sta-
ted.The toleranced sizesmustnotbe exceeded..
Sawexactlyat the marking line.Recommenda-
tion:Markthe cut--outwith a steelneedle.Cover--
glue the line in orderto avoidsplintering of the
coating when cutting.
DWithtiled worktopsthe grooveswithinthe contact
area of the cooking area mustcompletelybe filled
up with groovematerial.
DClean the worktop inthe cut--outsection
DFromthe top laythe cooking area intothe cutou-
tand adjustconcentrically.
D4 holesinthe bottomof the build--incase are pro-
vided forthe screwsof the fitting plates.
DAt firstscrewon the fitting platesbyascrewdriver
and afterwardsregularlytighten the platesalter-
nativelyand diagonallyoffset, until the frame of
the cooking area isperfectlylaying on the work-
top.
DAtoo strong and one--sided tightening isto be
avoided!Electric screwdriversorpusherair-
screwsto be exclusivelyused withslipclutch(set-
ting value 1 -- 1.1Nm).4
DCheck the seal inthe supporting frameforperfect
seating and gapless support. Please do notapply
furthersilicone sealing matterasthiswill compli-
catethe removalof the hob ifservicing isneces-
sary.

Electricalconnections
Beforeconnecting the appliance,check that the
voltage quoted on the rating plate-thatis, the no-
minalvoltage of the appliance-correspondsto
the availablemains voltage.The rating platecan
be found on the lowerhousing of the ceramic
glass hob.
DThe mains connection mustbe carried outbyan
expertelectrician.The VDE-regulationsand the
valid prescriptionsbythe localpowersuppybo-
ardshavetobecompiled with.
DPriortoconnection itshould be checked whether
the voltage stated on the rating plate-- i.e. the no-
minalvoltage of the appliance and of the oven/
controlbox-- isidentical withthe prevailing mains
voltage.The rating plateislocated on the lower
housing of the hob.
DThe heating elementvoltage amountsto 230 V~.
The appliancewill also perfectlyperform withthe
former mains voltage of220 V~.
DThe mains connection mustbe carried outin a
waythatan all--poleinsulating deviceisexisting
