Installation
lThis hob must be installe by qualifie personnel,
accor ing to the manufacturers instructions an to
the relevant British Stan ar s.
lAny gas installation must be carrie out by a
registere CORGI installer.
lRemove all packaging before using the hob.
lEnsure that the gas an electrical supply complies
with the type state on the rating plate, locate near
the gas supply pipe.
lDo not attempt to mo ify the hob in any way.
Child Safety
lThis hob is esigne to be operate by a ults. Do
not allow chil ren to play near or with the hob.
lThe hob gets hot when it is in use.

or pots off the hob.
During Use
lThis hob is inten e for omestic cooking only. It is
not esigne for commercial or in ustrial purposes.
lWhen in use a gas cooking appliance will pro uce
heat an moisture in the room in which it has been
installe . Ensure there is a continuous air supply,
keeping air vents in goo con ition or installing a
cooker hoo with a venting hose.
lWhen using the hob for a long perio of time, the
ventilation shoul be improve , by opening a win ow
or increasing the extractor spee .
lDo not use this hob if it is in contact with water.
Do not operate the hob with wet han s.
lEnsure the control knobs are in the OFF position
when not in use.
lWhen using other electrical appliances, ensure the
cable oes not come into contact with the hot surfaces
of the cooking appliance.

the hob as unstable pans can cause an acci ent by

Operation
ob Burners
To light a burner:
lpush the electric ignition push button which is marke
by a little spark ( );
lat the same time turn the relevant control knob
anticlockwise to maximum position;
lthen a just the flame as require .
If the burner oes not ignite, turn the control knob to
zero, an try again.
To ensure maximum burner efficiency, you shoul only
use pots an pans with a flat bottom fitting the size of
the burner use (see table).

Maintenance and Cleaning
Before any maintenance or cleaning can be carrie
out, you must DISCONNEC the hob from the
electricity supply.
The hob is best cleane whilst it is still warm, as
spillage can be remove more easily than if it is
left to cool.
The ob Top
Regularly wipe over the hob top using a soft cloth well
wrung out in warm water to which a little washing up liqui
has been a e . Avoi the use of the following:
- househol etergent an bleaches;
- impregnate pa s unsuitable for non-stick saucepans;
- steel wool pa s;
- bath/sink stain removers.
Shoul the hob top become heavily soile , it is
recommen e that a cleaning pro uct such as Hob Brite
or Bar Keepers Frien is use .

As soon as a liqui starts boiling, turn own the
flame so that it will barely keep the liqui
simmering.
If the control knobs become ifficult to turn, please
contact your local Service Force Centre.
If you use a saucepan which is smaller than the
recommen e size, the flame will sprea beyon
the bottom of the vessel, causing the han le to
overheat.
Take care when frying food in hot oil or fat, as
the overheated splashes could easily ignite.

Something Not Working?
If the hob is not working correctly, please carry out the following checks before contacting your local Service Force
Centre.
IMPOR AN : If you call out an engineer to a fault liste below, or to repair a fault cause by incorrect use or installation,
a charge will be ma e even if the appliance is un er guarantee.

uCheck the mains fuse has not blown
uCheck the burner cap an crown have been
replace correctly, e.g. after cleaning.
uCheck the main jet is not blocke an the burner
crown is clear of foo particles.
uCheck the burner cap an crown have been
replace correctly, e.g. after cleaning.
If after all these checks, your hob still oes not operate
correctly, contact your local Service Force Centre.
Please note that it will be necessary to provi e proof of
purchase for any in-guarantee service calls.
In-guarantee customers should ensure that the
above checks have been made as the engineer will
make a charge if the fault is not a mechanical or
electrical breakdown.
Pan Supports
The pan supports are ishwasher proof. If washing them
by han , take care when rying them as the enamelling
process occasionally leaves rough e ges. If necessay,
remove stubborn stains using a paste cleaner.
Ignition candle
The electric ignition is obtaine through a ceramic
"can le" an a metal electro e (fig. 1, letter C). Keep
these components well clean, to avoi ifficult lighting,
an check that the burner crown holes are not
obstructe .
The Burners
The burner caps an crowns (fig. 1, letter A,B) can be
remove for cleaning. Wash the burner caps an crowns
using hot soapy water, an remove marks with a mil
paste cleaner. A well moistene soap impregnate steel
wool pa can be use with caution, if the marks are
particularly ifficult to remove.
After cleaning, be sure to wipe ry with a soft cloth.

ate of the purchase, this Moffat appliance or any part
thereof is prove to be efective by any reason only of
faulty workmanship or materials, we will, at our option,
repair or replace the same FREE OF ANY CHARGE for
labour, materials or carriage on con ition that:

only on the gas an electricity supply state on the
rating plate.
* The appliance has been use for normal omestic
purpose only, an in accor ance with the
manufacturer's instructions.
* The appliance has not been service , maintaine ,
repaire , taken apart or tampere with by any person
not authorise by us.
* All service work un er this guarantee must be
un ertaken by a Moffat Service Centre.
* Any appliance or efective part replace shall
become the Company's property.
* This guarantee is in a ition to your statutory an
other legal rights.
Home visits are ma e between 8.30am and 5.30pm
Mon ay to Fri ay. Visits may be available outsi e these
hours, in which case a premium will be charge .
Exclusions
his guarantee does not cover:
* Damage or calls resulting from transportation,
improper use or neglect, the replacement of any light
bulbs or removable parts of glass or plastic.
* Costs incurre for calls to put right an appliance
which is improperly installe or calls to appliance
outsi e the Unite King om.
* Appliances foun to be in use within a commercial
or similar environment, plus those which are the
subject to rental agreements.
* Pro ucts of Moffat manufacture which are not
markete by Moffat.
European Guarantee
If you shoul move to another country within Europe then
your guarantee moves with you to your new home
subject to the following qualifications:

purchase your pro uct.

Important safety req irements
This hob must be installe in accor ance with the Gas
Safety (Installation an Use) Regulations (Current E ition)
an the IEE Wiring Regulations (Current E ition).
Detaile recommen ations are containe in the following
British Stan ar s Co es Of Practice: B.S. 6172/ B.S.
5440, Part 2 an B.S. 6891 Current E itions.
The hob shoul not be installe in a be sitting room
with a volume of less than 20 m3. If it is installe in a
room of volume less than 5 m3 an air vent of effective
area of 110 cm2 is require . If it is installe in a room of
volume between 5 m3 an 10 m3 an air vent of effective
area of 50 cm2 is require , while if the volume excee s
11 m3 no air vent is require .
However, if the room has a oor which opens irectly to
the outsi e no air vent is require even if the volume is
between 5 m3 an 11 m3.
If there are other fuel burning appliances in the same
room, B.S. 5440 Part 2 Current E ition, shoul be
consulte to etermine the requisite air vent requirements.
Location
The hob may be locate in a kitchen, a kitchen/ iner or
be sitting room, but not in a bathroom, shower room or
garage.
Before making the cut out in the worktop ensure that the
e ges of the hob that are to be near either a si e or rear
wall have a minimum istance of 55 mm. between the
e ge of the hob an the wall.
The minimum istance combustible material can be fitte
above the hob is 400 mm. If it is fitte below 400 mm. a
space of 50 mm. must be allowe from the e ges of the
hob.
The minimum istance combustible material can be fitte
irectly above the hob is 700 mm.
A minimum istance of 100 mm. must be left between
the si e e ges of the hob an any a jacent cabinets or
walls.
Installation
IMPOR AN
This hob must be installe by qualified personnel
to the relevant British Stan ar s.
Any gas installation must be carrie out by a
registere CORGI installer.
The manufacturer will not accept liability, shoul
the above instructions or any of the other safety
instructions incorporate in this book be ignore .
When the ho is first installed
Once the hob has been installe , it is important to
remove any protective materials, which were put
on in the factory.
On the en of the shaft, which inclu es the GJ 1/2"
threa e elbow, a justment is fixe so that the washer
is fitte between the components as shown in the
iagram. Screw the parts together without using excessive
force.

Building over a cupboard or
drawer
If the hob is to be installe above a cupboar or rawer
it will be necessary to fit a heat resistant boar below
the base of the hob on the un ersi e of the work
surface.
It is also recommen e to carry out the electrical
connection to the hob as shown in iagrams 1 an 2.
Building over a kitchen unit
with door
Proper arrangements must be taken in esigning the
furniture unit, in or er to avoi any contact with the
bottom of the hob which can be heate when it is
operate . The recommen e solution is shown in
iagram 3.
The panel fitte un er the hob ("a") shoul be easily
removable to allow easy access if technical
assistance is nee e . The space behin the kitchen
unit ("b") can be use for connections.

It is important to install the elbow correctly, with
the shoul er on the en of the threa , fitte to the
hob connecting pipe.
Failure to ensure the correct assembly will cause
leakage of gas.

Gas Connection
Connection to the gas supply shoul be with either rigi
or semi-rigi pipe, i.e. steel or copper.
The connection shoul be suitable for connecting to RC
1/2 (1/2 BSP male threa ).
When the final connection has been ma e, it is essential
that a thorough leak test is carrie out on the hob an
installation.

Permanent Connection
In the case of a permanent connection, it is necessary
that you install a ouble pole switch between the hob
an the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap
of 3 mm. between the switch contacts an of a type
suitable for the require loa in compliance with the current
electric regulations.
The switch must not break the yellow an green earth
cable at any point.
Ensure that the hob supply cord does not come
into contact with surfaces with temperatures
higher than 50 deg. C.

his hob is designed to be connected to a 230-240V
50Hz AC electrical supply.
Before switching on, make sure the electricity supply
voltage is the same as that in icate on the hob rating
plate. The rating plate is locate on the bottom of the
hob. A copy is attache on the back cover of this book.
The hob is supplie with a 3 core flexible supply cor
incorporating a 3amp plug fitte . In the event of having to
change the fuse, a 3amp ASTA approve (BS 1362) fuse
must be use .
Shoul the plug nee to be replace for any reason, the
wires in the mains lea are coloure in accor ance with
the following co e:
Green an Yellow - Earth
Blue - Neutral
Brown - Live
 Connect the green an yellow (earth) wire to
the terminal in the plug which is marke with
the letter 'E' or the earth symbol or coloure
green an yellow.
 Connect the blue (neutral) wire to the terminal
in the plug which is marke with the letter 'N' or
coloure black.
 Connect the brown (live) wire to the terminal in
the plug which is marke with the letter 'L' or
coloure re .
Upon completion there must be no cut, or stray stran s
of wire present an the cor clamp must be secure over
the outer sheath.
A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is
a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure that
the cut off plug is disposed of safely.

Fitting the ob into the worktop
Carry out the buil ing in of the hob as follows:
 put the seals supplie with the hob, on the
e ges of the cut out: place them exactly on
the front an rear e ge an at 50 mm. from the
si e e ges, taking care that the seals meet
without overlapping;
 place the hob in the cut out, taking care that it
is centre ;
 fix the hob with the relevant fixing clamps an
screws, as shown in the iagram. When the
screws have been tightene , the excess seal
can be remove .
The e ge of the hob forms a ouble seal which prevents
the ingress of liqui s.

A. EARTH CONTINUITY CHECK - Appliance must be
electrically disconnected - meter set on W (Ohms) x
1 scale and adjust zero if necessary.

all contacts are clean and tight.
B. INSULATION CHECK - Appliance electrically
disconnected, all switches ON.

but no fault is indicated - a detailed continuity check
(i.e. by disconnecting and checking each
component) is required to trace the faulty component.
It is possible that a fault could occur as a result of
local burning/arcing but no fault could be found under
test. However a detailed visual inspection should
reveal evidence of burning around the fault.

Commissioning
When the hob has been fully installe it will be necessary
to check the minimum flame setting. To o this, follow
the proce ure below.
- Turn the gas tap to the MAX position an ignite.
- Set the gas tap to the MIN flame position then turn
the control knob from MIN to MAX several times. If
the flame is unstable or is extinguishe follow the
proce ure below.
Procedure:
Re-ignite the burner an set to MIN.
Remove the control knob.
To a just, use a thin bla e screw river an turn
the a justment screw (see iagram) until the flame
is stea y an oes not extinguish, when the knob
is turne from MIN to MAX. Repeat this proce ure
for all burners.
Pressure esting
Remove left han pan support an front left burner
cap an crown.
Fit manometer tube over the injector.
Turn on the burner gas supply an ignite another
burner.
The pressure rea ing shoul be nominally 20mbar
an must be between 17 mbar an 25mbar.
Turn off the burner supplies.

Conversion from Nat ral Gas to LPG
It is important to note that this mo el is esigne for use
with natural gas but can be converte for use with butane
or propane gas provi ing the correct injectors are fitte .
The gas rate is a juste to suit.
Method
 Ensure that the gas taps are in the 'OFF' position
 Isolate the hob from the electrical supply
 Remove all pan supports, burner caps, rings, crowns
an control knobs.
 With the ai of a 7mm box spanner the burner injectors
can then be unscrewe an replace by the
appropriate LPG injectors.
To adjust the gas rate
With the ai of a thin bla e screw river completely
tighten own the by pass a justment screw. Upon
completion affix the replacement rating plate on the un er
si e of the hob.
IMPOR AN
The replacement/conversion of the gas hob shoul only
be un ertaken by a competent person.
