M1401 Tete-a-Tete Glider Assembly Instructions
NOTE: Please check contents and read directions carefully before assembly. If any items are missing or damaged, do
not take the product back to the store. Call Moon Valley customer service at 313-766-4950 and we will correct the
problem as promptly and as efficiently as possible. Also, checking or cracking of the logs is a natural part of the
drying aspect of cedar. This does not affect the structural integrity of the wood. This natural occurrence enhances the
rustic beauty of the product.
Tete-a-Tete Components

Tools Needed: Rubber Mallet or Hammer, ½” Socket and
Socket Wrench, Drill or Screwdriver
Section 1:Tete-a-Tete Assembly
Step 1: Lay pre-assembled seat bottom (A) onto flat padded surface.
Note: For convenience a bench or table may be used to build on.
Step 2: Insert pre-assembled seat back (B) into pre-drilled holes of pre-assembled seat
bottom (A). Use mallet or hammer with padding to prevent damage to the unit to secure
dowels into holes. Note: Each seat back (B) has a pre-drilled hole on one side only. Be
sure these holes on each chair face inward for table (E) (step #3) to attach to.

Step 3: Insert pre-assembled table top (E) into hole on each side of seat
back (B) (as shown). Next, repeat Step 1 for the remaining seat back (B).
Step 4: Attach angled end of table brace (K) to bottom of table top underlay
(E), and be sure to center the brace (K) as much as possible. Use 2 ½” lag
bolt (I) to secure (as shown). Use a 1/4” washer (W) when inserting lag
bolt.

Step 5: Insert 9” dowels (C) into pre-drilled holes in seat bottom (A).
Fold table (E) down and insert braces (C) into pre-drilled holes in table
top (E) underlay. Use 2” screws (O) to secure both ends to the table top
brace (K) to seat bottom (A) (as shown below).Be sure table brace (K)
from Step # 4 rests on top of seat bottom (A) when folding table (E)
down (see picture below for visual). Note: It may be necessary to turn
dowels (C) while in holes to line up with holes in table(E) underlay. If
there is still a gap after doing this try pulling the chair backs (B)
forward and dowels (C) will line up to table (E) underlay holes. This
may require the help of an additional person.

Step 6: Use 2” screws (O) at both insertion points to attach seat back (B) to
seat bottom (A) (as shown).
Step 7: Use 3 ½” lag bolt (H) to secure angle brace (K) to seat bottom (A).
Use a 1/4” washer (W) when inserting this lag bolt.

Step 8: Secure table (E) to seat back (B) using 2” screws (O).
Step 9: Insert doweled end of single-hole leg (G) piece into double-hole leg
(F) piece. Be sure that both remaining holes are facing the same direction (as
shown). Repeat process with remaining two leg pieces.
Step 10: Attach leg assemblies to dowels on both sides of pre-assembled seat
(A) (as shown). Use rubber mallet to ensure secure fit. If using a hammer, be
sure to pad impact area to prevent damage.
Step 11: Attach both arm pieces (J) to exposed dowels on the leg assemblies (as shown). At
this point, set chair on a flat surface to ensure that all components are aligned and the chair is
level. Be firm when setting chair on flat surface as it will help level it out. Use rubber mallet
or hammer (with padding) to ensure all dowels are secure in each receiving piece.

Step 12: Using 2” screws (O), secure all doweled points (as shown in photo
series). Repeat process for both sides of item.

Step 13: Using pre-drilled holes on seat back (B) side pieces, install a 3 ½” lag
bolt (H) to secure the arm pieces to the seat back (as shown). Use 1/4” washers
(W) when inserting lag bolts.
Step 14: In pre-drilled holes, use 2 ½” screws (N) to attach each 9” brace (D) to
front of seat bottom (A) and to the leg assembly (as shown).

Section 2: Glider Base Assembly
Step 1: Insert 74” support into pre-drilled holes on glider base ends. The rail should be off-center
and towards the back of the glider base. Use 2 ½” screws (N) to secure this rail to the glider base
ends. Next, attach the 9” braces. The braces are placed on top of and in front of the 74” support rail,
connecting them to the glider base ends. Use a 2 ½” screws (N) on each end of the 9” braces to
secure them to glider base ends and 74” support rail.
Step 2: Place tete-a-tete into base and attach bottom of the glider strap
to the tete-a-tete legs at pre-drilled holes. Use 2 ½” lag bolts (I) and
¼” washers (W) to secure. Be sure that washer is on the inside of the
glider strap (between the metal and the wood).
Step 3: Check to make sure all doweled joints have been secured with
screws, and that all lag bolts are tightened properly.
